Casa Joaquin Boutique Hotel

Why would one stay in a big chain hotel when you can experience the amazing hospitality in Casa Joaquin . Francisco and his wife couldn’t have gone to greater lengths to make our stay memorable from arranging our transfer , welcoming us on arrival to delicious breakfasts and great restaurant recommendations .

We stayed there for 2 nights, giving us a full day to explore quito. The hotel was charming, well maintained and looked like it was recently renovated. The rooms were nicely decorated and had that feeling like we were staying with someone we knew. The bathroom was also recently renovated and did not have a cramped feeling to it. Breakfast was not your usual breakfast buffet found in chain hotels. They offered a freshly made French Toast or an omlete. The buffet had fresh fruit and bread. We enjoyed it. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We asked for a recomendation for a restaurant within walking distance that served local cuisine. They suggested a restaurant that was 2 blocks away and had excellant ecuadarian food at a reasonable price. As an retired couple, we took a taxi to the old city, as it was a little too far to walk. There was also a mis-understanding, my inquiry into pricing of the airport taxi was mis-interpreted as confirmation, which resulted in a double booking. This was quickly resolved by hotel staff.

Very clean hotel in Quito that felt like home. It served a wonderful breakfast and most of all had a lovely manager. Francesco and his wife are friendly, helpful, caring. From helping us access a medical clinic to finding a good restaurant to making car rental arrangements- we felt they went above and beyond. The owners I am sure are aware of what an asset Francesco is to the establishment!

Great central accomodation in Quito for our family of 3. Francesco was a wonderful host and very responsive to our many many questions and arranged wonderful drivers for our day tours and airport transfers to make our time that much more enjoyable. Despite what you might be reading or thinking quito feels very safe and life is going on pretty much as normal - all they need is people to stop cancelling their visits. They are very reliant on tourism and are definitely hurting from all the recent cancellations. Easy and cheap to get around whether you choose Uber & cabs + definitely recommend dining @ cire central, Miskay, and Zazu.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and we loved it!! The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, the shower was hot and strong. Francisco and his family were warm and welcoming. Francisco answered all our questions!!

This is the second time we've stayed at Casa Joaquin, and both times have been delightful. Much attention to detail, excellent breakfast and coffee, nice rooms, beautiful rooftop terrace, and unusually quiet for the neighborhood. Francisco, the manager is outstanding -- the consummate gracious and helpful host.

Our stay was enhanced by the manager, Francisco, and his wife and family (if behind the scenes). He was on hand to advise us, as when we visited Quito, violence had broken out nationwide. He made sure we got taxis, made reservations for restaurants, and knew our way about the Mariscal Sucre neighborhood near Plaza Foch. Despite its reputation as a tourist zone, it can be a sketchy area to wander in, so take care... Breakfast is provided. Eggs or French toast. Milk, tea, coffee, cereal and bread are also on hand. A little bar is on the other side of the dining room. A sitting room with a big sofa offers a chance to sit and chat with guests outside the rooms themselves. The room reminded us of a French hotel. (The owner is Belgian.) The decor gave an old-world feel to the place, immediately welcoming. On the top floor, the air could get stuffy. The window opened onto an inner atrium glassed over, so we relied on a fan, which made the interior quite pleasant, and also drowned out some street noise. The area is a bit sketchy, even in daytime. Despite Mariscal Sucre's billing as a tourist destination, hard times are evident, and around Plaza Foch as we were, be cautious. That's another reason why having a reliable manager proves a bonus, given that those unfamiliar with the neighborhood can get lost pretty easily, in our case at least. It's located convenient to streets where you can easily catch a cab. But not on a too-busy street, luckily. Recommended as a fairly priced, restful, and attractive hotel.

Couldn’t be nicer in any respect. Our absolute favorite place to stay in Quito. Wonderful management, very comfortable and excellent breakfast. Look forward to returning soon.

Very pleasant boutique hotel near Plaza Foch, that we used as a launch pad for our trip to Galapagos. Clean, quiet and a great breakfast to start your day. The service was excellent. The area is a bit dodgy but the hotel is secure.
