The Rajbari Bawali

We were newly wedded couple and my Japanese wife was visiting India for the first time. Being a Bengali, I want her to experience the royal culture of Bengal. Therefore, we booked for one night at the property and the experience was amazing. Starting from the entry , till we left the property, everything was beautifully organized and managed. When our wing manager Mr. Sandip came to know about us, he specially took care of us (a beautiful cake and hand drawing were presented) till the whole time. The food was undoubtedly delicious, the coffee was of good quality, the live music program was enjoyable. Every corner of the property was clean, every staff greeted with smiles and every where one can experience the royality. Thank you everyone at The Rajbari Bawali for making the experience a wonderful one.

It is hard to describe the hospitality at the Rajbari Bawali, from the welcome blessing ceremony, to the incredible peaceful and luxurious grounds and rooms. The manager Sandip sir really worked around the clock to make us feel welcome as family. This place perfectly weaves Bengali tradition (beautiful staff saris, fish thalis on the menu, puja and cultural show every evening) ***** with international luxury (single-origin tea, fresh fruit, robes and fluffy pillows in the room). The swimming pool is huge and perfectly clean, there is a spa on the premises, and extensive room service. The sunset Ganges tour with fresh snacks and hot drinks was unforgettable. This place alone is worth a visit to south Kolkata.

Keeping a limited number of guests to allow great attention to all residents. Subhrojit was a great host. Evening show by Anirupa and Pritam was beautiful and mesmerizing. Food was delicious. Historical vibe everywhere inside the property. Liked the independence given to me to go anywhere inside the property. I understand the prices are high but the services are comparable

Charming, laid-back and serene! Rooms are well maintained and the food is top notch. The water bodies and the greenery is soothing and it was such fun to sit out for our coffee breaks, board games or just catching up on our reading. The evening Arati and the live music that followed was classy and thank god there no blaring speakers or dance floors. All this was topped off by truly great service! Will have to visit again

From passing the portal onwards one feels as being a maharaja…warm greetings from the entire staff, grandezza style buildings in wonderful setting, stylish accomodations and…to top it off … a personal butler „wingman“ who takes care if all your needs and wishes - even before you mention them. The multi-building layout is perfect for groups that wish to stay amongst them, well managed by Alexa ( not the chatbot ) and her staff. Meals are excellent wether indian, asian or european, served in good style and beautiful settings. It is an oasis in the „outback“ not to be missed when traveling the area. TOP - we loved every minute!

Rajbari Bawali ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ A beautiful Heritage property restored and reused, it's gates thrown open to one and all to come and savour it's gorgeousness as a beautiful Heritage Resort...but not just that... it takes you back in time...to a hospitality where you feel almost like you are visiting a relative, where you are looked after with care and courtesy, where a " wing ***" , a designated staff member, gives you his number and says he will be there to address any requirements...where the "shandhya aroti" followed by the restoration video is a ritual one looks forward to...and the evenings are a play of light and shade... Rajbari Bawali...less than 2 hours from the city takes you to a world of nostalgia with all the contemporary comforts. The "kochulata with chingri" and the "kasha mangsho" are gourmet delicacies you cannot miss, neither can you miss their " ghare paata doi" and cakes...and the "narus " that are served when they bid goodbye... I took the autoride to the village and got to meet Mr Samar Mandal one of the family members who originally owned the Rajbaari. What a fascinating journey of the family... From Basudev Ram who first arrived from Rajasthan to acquiring the title Mandal or landowners, Mr Mandal takes you through time and paints a picture of what used to be... No less fascinating was the auto driver who doubles as a DJ and goes by the name "DJ AK Remix Bawali se"... A self taught DJ who can take lessons on the art of mixing music on his cell phone A meeting point of the past and the present. And to Ajay Rawla who had the foresight to convert this beautiful mansion from ruins to finery and run it as one of Bengal's first Heritage Tourist Resorts, he certainly paved the way ! Everytime I visit I find something new, something improved. If only we could convert the whole of Bengal this way. Afterall every nook and corner of Bengal has these Rajbaris, Rashmanchas, and Temple zones... Hopefully more people will come forward to take charge of these beautiful structures and Restore and Reuse our commonly inherited legacies
