We were nicely surprised about Risoer hotel which was located very nicely along the harbour. When we got there the hotel manager showed us their parking space, and we got the last spot. Very nice of him! They only have 6 (or 7?) spots, but we got one the next day as well. With the Covid-19 situation we were a little sceptical due to a recent trip to Stockholm (were the breakfast buffé was a total caos). The breakfast at Risør was a dream in comparison with waiters serving everything. I haven't had such service since I was in San Francisco! The eggs were perfect and we got extra bread and bacon when we asked. I did miss some smoked salmon, but I forgot to ask for it... The room was nice and very quiet with a view to a back garden. Everything was superclean. We were told there would not be room service due to Covid, but we only spent two nights so it wasn't a problem for us. This seems to be the same all over Norway, and even in Sweden. The hotel front porch was a very nice area to spend the evening with a glass of beer (or wine for my wife). We could relax and look at the harbour with the kids relaxing by the TV. The bath facility at Risør is ok. There is a place 50 meters from the hotel with stairs into the sea. The second day we walked to a public beach, but its a 20 minute walk, so remember good shoes. The beach was small, but cosy and perfect for the kids. All-in-all we had a nice stay at a classic hotel.
