We booked and paid for a family cottage at a rate of R3500 per night, which was pretty steep in comparison to the other lodges, but based on the iconic and historical location, we decided to go ahead with the booking. The lodge required full payment upfront as well as all the personal details of the travellers. We travelled from Katse Dam via Maseru to spend a night at this iconic destination. However, on arrival, there were signs posted on the name board as well as the gate, stating that the lodge was PERMANENTLY CLOSED! A male posted ourside the gate tried to direct us to go around the property and then eventually opened the gate. The lady on duty at reception didn't expect us and had to make a few phone calls to confirm our booking despite the fact that the hardcopy of the POP was presented. We were then taken to a very run-down cottage that didn't compare to any of the photos we have seen of the lodge. It seems that management and upkeep of the lodge have deteriorated since the last post in 2020 and I would therefore not recommend it to anyone.
