Appia Antica Resort

Made reservation this summer for a one month stay at Appia Antica Resort, Rome. Contract signed and full amount (with extra security deposit!) was requested and charged way in advance by the owner. Upon our arrival (after very long drive and spending hundreds of euros on travel) we were shocked by the fact that we are accommodated in an extremely dark semi-basement flat instead of the ground floor apartment we were entitled to according to the written contract. Probably due to its position within the villa the apartment intensively smelled mouldy and musty. When addressed these complains to the owner he „could not do anything about it”. After three restless nights, sadly, we had to return home. As an „apology” for his deliberately misleading and clearly irresponsible behaviour, the owner did not even refund all our money. I wonder who should be covering our travel expenses wasted in vain... Considering all the above mentioned shortcomings the fantastic reviews they have from before are a mystery and unfortunately only history.

Words cannot express the charm and beauty of Maurizio’s vacation home. Our rental was fully equipped for every possible need, but the amazing part is the quality, workmanship and artwork throughout. Maurizio is an amazing host. He is warm and inviting, in addition his knowledge of Roman art and history was utterly incredible. His family’s roots snd his love for Rome gave us a tour guide experience like no other. His care and compassion is beyond anything I have experienced in all my rental travels. I highly recommend this rental home. It is close to cafes, restaurants and historical site. Close to public transportation and feels like living in a luxury hotel but so much better because it is a home. I am definitely going back. Thank you Maurizio for a magical experience and your exceptional kindness!

I came here with my mom to relax and it was absolutely exactly what we needed! Such and Amazing and Peaceful Property with the most generous hospitable Hosts, truly made our experience in Rome soo amazing!! We were in such a calm quiet area but had everything we needed around every corner! There’s a close by market, wonderful restaurants with kind local Romans, great bread and gelato for all your cravings! And was able to see and learn so much about the city, very very easy to travel to the city and back to go see all the sights and experience the magic of Rome! Definitely recommend staying here and going on tours with the Host! You will learn so much!!

I had the pleasure of staying at the resort back in 2014. When we planned our trip to Rome, I knew I had to come back. We are a family of 5. My husband and I travelled with our 3 children (5, 3 and 7 month old) Maurizio is the most dedicated, accommodating and helpful host. We had everything we needed for our stay. The resort is just as great if not better than 8 years ago. Comfortable, clean and practical-which is super helpful when traveling with little ones. The grounds are beautiful and only 15 minutes away from the main sights. I appreciate all of Maurizio’s help with arranging our stay. He’s the best!! We can’t wait to come back to Appia Antica Resort soon.

Having spent six months in Rome I could not have stayed in a greater place. The hosts, Maurizio and Luisa, made me feel most welcome and at home from day one onwards. I was introduced to the Appia Antica Parc and its surrounding neighbourhood, given most valuable hints to ease the start in Rome soon after my arrival. Being a born Roman Maurizio shared an incredible amount of Roman history, including an introduction to some special places to visit in the city of Rome, with most valuable hints on the best museums to visit - also on colder rainy days -. All of this helped me to make the most of my stay, walking the streets of Rome on many weekends, visting the Villa D'Este in Tivoli etc. etc. I will definitely not forget the Buffalo mozarella from IL GRANATO, certainly the best I have ever had, the home-made tiramisu amongst others, and the perfect Merlot from Umbria 😋😋😋. The city of Rome can be easily reached by bus which leaves across the street or by a great walk along the VIA APPIA ANTICA, with most fascinating historic sights along the way, welcoming places to have a coffee or more. I can recommend APPIA ANTICA RESORT for both short and longer stays in Rome and will never forget the perfect appartment, the magnificent garden and its hosts😊

A place to feel good. The host Maurizio cares about you, gives advice, makes reservations, even gives rides with his car if needed etc. Fully equipped flat in a villa, bus stop before the house, wonderful surroundings, yet close to centre (by bus within 10 minutes).

Abbiamo soggiornato una notte in questo resort. Location bellissima e molto comoda al centro, bellissimo l'appartamento in cui siamo stati! Il proprietario è una persona estremamente cordiale e gentile, ci ha raccontato un sacco di aneddoti (storici e non) molto interessanti!

Maurizio est incroyable, il saura vous recevoir comme il se doit. Attentionné, impliqué eh passionné il vous aiguillera vers les meilleurs en droits de Rome. Passionné d’histoire il vous racontera les choses que seul un vrai romain fervent d’histoire connaît. Tout cela se retrouve particulièrement à la villa pour laquelle il apporte un grand soin, propreté chirurgicale, chambres grandes et confortables, vous aurez tout ce qu’il vous faut pour vivre au mieux la « dolce vita ». Le grand plus est le superbe jardin, qui saura vous accueillir pour un moment de calme après une journée grouillante dans Rome. Enfin le lieu est très bien desservi par bus pour le centre de la ville. (10 min en temps normal). Vous l’aurez compris je recommande vivement la villa de Maurizio et vous souhaite de passer un aussi agréable séjour que moi !

La prima impressione che si riceve arrivando al Resort è quella di un luogo fuori dal tempo. La bellezza e la ricchezza dell'Appia Antica si rispecchiano perfettamente in ogni aspetto della maison e del suo curatissimo giardino, come nell'attenzione al minimo particolare e nella solerzia con cui i proprietari e il personale vanno incontro alla minima richiesta dell'ospite. Torno abitualmente ed ogni volta non posso che complimentarmi con la gestione di questa struttura, ma ogni encomio mi pare ormai superfluo: chi svolge con amore, professionalità e consapevolezza il proprio lavoro conosce bene il proprio valore e questa vuole essere solo una testimonianza sull'eccellenza che contraddistingue questa struttura e che si aggiunge alle migliaia che la precedono.
