Hotel Novecento

The hotel isn’t fancy but is close to the metro, quiet at night and we found it comfortable. All of the staff we spoke to were very helpful and friendly, especially Alessandro. Breakfast was simple but certainly adequate. The price, for Rome, was fair. Overall, we found it a good choice for four nights when all we needed was a comfortable bed at the end of busy days.

I would stay again but if you are looking for 5 star this isn’t for you. The staff was friendly, location was easy walk to the metro, breakfast was descent room was pretty basic but clean. We got maid service everyday, which was nice. Bed was comfortable, even if we did have kind of a tacky bedspread ;) Overall if you’re looking for budget and access to metro this works. For me I think it could have been cheaper for what we got, but it seems everything is overpriced post Covid!

This was a last minute trip to Rome, booked 15 hrs before the flight. The search for suited hotel was also quick, so our expectations where not that high. As mentioned in title it was very friendly, clean and a short walk to the Metro. Was easy to find when we first came, and the room was fine. Really small shower for big scandinavians, but it worked just fine. Housekeeping was also perfect and very friendly when we met them. Breakfast was also good.

Customer service was amazing. Very nice people, we enjoyed our stay.

Clean and nice little spot in Rome! We loved it! The travel agency recommended to us and indeed it was a great choice! It is also well connected and his staff (particularly one guy in the reception) were very nice and kind to us!

Great location near the Metro and numerous restaurants. Staff friendly and helpful. It is an old building and our room was very small with a double bed pushed up against a wall. No window in the bathroom and it was rather smelly because of this. Breakfast fast wasn’t great.

We booked a two-night stay at the Novecento for April 18-20, 2023. The Novecento holds itself out as a boutique 3-star hotel and advertises that its rooms have air conditioning. However, the room was hot and humid overnight, and the air conditioning would not turn on. We had to open a window to cool down, which resulted in an influx of mosquitos biting us, because there was no mosquito screen on the windows. In addition, the bed was advertised as a “superior double” but was actually two single beds that had been pushed together. The two beds were not attached to each other in any way, so kept slipping apart. After an uncomfortable and mostly sleepless night, we decided to move to a different hotel. We wrote to the hotel to advise of the problems and request a refund, given the room was not as advertised. The hotel’s response was dismissive from the outset. They first claimed that air conditioning is “seasonal” and they are not allowed to turn it on until June 1. When we advised that we could not find any evidence of a law restricting air conditioning, and that the hotel we moved to provided it, they admitted they choose not to use it. The hotel staff said “we have to coexist with” the mosquitoes, and claimed to have mosquito repellent machines in the rooms. The dozens of bites we received show that the machines were either not operating or ineffective. Regarding the bed, the staff claimed that it is “normal” to push two beds together to create a double bed. The above information is not on the hotel’s website and was not provided when we booked. Had we known that air conditioning would not be available, and the only option would be to open the window and get bitten by mosquitos, we would not have booked this hotel.

The hotel was pretty good for the price. Comfy bed and pillows, safe included in the room. We had a double standard room - It was pretty small, compared to other double rooms, but was pretty good for a short stay. Small tv in bedroom, full size mirror too, and we had a balcony too. Only downside to the bedroom is that the walls are quite thin, so you can hear next door sometimes (can't complain too much, for the price). The rooftop balcony was lovely, lots of seating area and a lovely view. Staff in the hotel were very helpful, English wasn't the best for all of the staff, but they still helped as much as they could. On the last day, the receptionist helped book our taxi too, which was very nice (only $30 to Ciampino airport.) Breakfast was very nice, but limited and the same each day - filled croissants, ham and cheese, bread, juice, coffee, cereal and fruit. A delicious lemon cake was offered too :) The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the colosseum, and only 5 minutes walk to the metro station which has links to all tourist attractions (Trevi fountain, Vatican, Spanish steps, etc.) Overall, the hotel is in a good location and well priced for what you get. Would recommend for a short stay, where you aim to be out in the city most of the time and aren't too fussed about your hotel :)
