Very nice hotel. Great location.

Good location in a convenient shopping area. The hotel is old and the shower 🚿 was not clean and only had a little water came out.

Great central location - helpful & efficient staff

Very relaxing a**osphere with a great bar where you can enjoy a peaceful drink. Perfect for a little getaway. Super nice staff. Breakfast yummy and served red hot to order. Nothing was too much trouble. We have stayed at Ryde Castle and Appley Manor on the IOW in the past but we will staff at Yelf’s next time.

Wonderful to celebrate my birthday with some of my family at Yelfs today. We often enjoy coffee and cake or a spot of lunch in the bar but this is the first time we have used the restaurant. The menu was really extensive and meant those who wanted a lighter but could and those a full meal were also catered for. My Dad and I had the prawn linguine, my husband sausages and mash, my sister sandwich and chips, Mum the tuna jacket potato and our final guest the falafel! All generous portions and delicious. Also, priced much cheaper than we would have expected for the quality. We had a lovely spacious table with linen table cloths and lit candles, making us feel special. The chef also sent out a free dessert for me! How kind, plus what surprise and delight! Thank you will be using the restaurant more as locals.

We booked a short break to IOW, meeting family there and so chose Yelfs as it was close to the ferry and looked a good base for exploring. There is some limited parking at the hotel but it is awkward and a trip through some dingy dirty passageways, not ideal. We booked in, polite pleasant lady at reception and got key to our room, first floor above the reception overlooking the street. Wow, this is a very tired run down hotel. Threadbear carpets made trip hazzards on stairs and hallways. Very dirty room. Everything broken, dirty and impractical. No bedside sockets. Broken mismatched lamps, dirty stained side tables, awful stained carpets. Filthy kettle, full of rust and the element almost worn through. Tiny old TV that refused to turn on for the first 10 mins of trying. Large front windows, single glazed, frames rotton and running with damp Bathroom passable but tiny, featureless, cold and dirty. We were supossed to be there for three nights and may have stuck it out as a base, except for the horrors of night 1. After a 5 hour journey we got to bed about 10pm. We may as well have been lying on the pavement outside. This popular town was full of drunks and as various establishments emptied out, we were treated to wave after wave of screaming, shouting, fighting, swearing with nothing but 2mm of glass seperating us from the row. The road noise from traffic rattled us in our bed, coaches, vans cars and lorries without a break for hours. We lay awake tortured till well after 3am but even then, sporadic shouts and vehicles stopped any meaningfull sleep and then deliveries started about 5.30 and we were up. The following day we just had to check out. The guy on the desk was appologetic and accepted our complaint. A full refund has been given and we are grateful for that. I have zero complaints about the hard working staff. We booked in at Premier in Sandown seafront which was great for the last 2 nights and actually cheaper than Yelfs

This hotel is nothing like it makes out to be on its website, the whole place needs gutting and refitting, every single fitting in the hotel room had something wrong with it, broken, dirty, ripped, stained. Bed had brown stains up the side, the pull out mattress bed for kids had what looks like a blood stain. The walls had dirty handprints and smudges all over. Curtain was ripped, windows were single glazed, covered in cobwebs and grime and all the paintwork chipping off, the bathroom had a huge damp stain on the lino, the bath itself had water damage to the outside edges and the skirting board was falling off due to water damage. Half the lamps didn't turn on and they all had cobwebs over them. The inside of the bath had holes in showing rust, the toilet flush button was not attached and had to be balanced in place each time you needed to flush. The sink was just fitted onto a worktop that didn't have anything underneath it so it was just open pipes. The kettle didn't boil and we had to get a new one, the new one was so crusted up with limescale and dust it was gross, then to rub salt in the wounds the tea bags changed from Pg tips the first day, to cheap own branded ones thereafter. There was a huge fist fight outside the hotel in the night which could be heard through the windows, not nice when your 8 year old child can hear people getting punched, there was blood up the door the next day. Then the next night day there was the sound of barrels being thrown onto a van in the late hours of the night. We booked a table for the restaurant one of the evenings, we had booked this table before arriving at the hotel and it was accepted, we waited until it was time for our booking (later than we normally eat due to wanting a drink in the bar first) only to be told that they aren't opening the restaurant that day so we had to go down the road and spend a heck of a lot of money in a random restaurant that we had never planned to go to in the first place. Two days later we asked about the restaurant and again it was closed so we got some chips and sat by the sea instead. The price of this hotel is an absolute joke considering the quality you get, do yourself a favour and do not throw your money away like we did, it really puts a downer on your holiday.

Wonderful value. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for 2 nights. Clean and comfortable room. We came to Ryde for the Harp Festival. Right in the middle of the town, walking distance from the hovercraft and the Cat. Great cocktail bar. Generous self-service breakfast. We will definitely come back to stay at Yelfs again.

Went here for our Chris**as night out. Although the place is a bit old fashioned we had a good night. The comedian and disco were fun. The food was alright. I'd have it again for a similar night out. The best thing was the reasonably priced wine. The place did smell a bit strange which was a little off putting.
