The White Hart at Lydgate

Only went here to eat. They do a Fish and Chip Special, which is always really good. The star of the show on our last visit was the lemon cheesecake. Deconstructed, but really tasty. So good I wanted to lick the plate, but my partner wouldn't let me.

What a little gem this place is. We were staying 1 night and even though they were extremely busy they fit us into the restaurant and the food was delicious. The rooms were very cosy and clean and each plug had a USB connection. The breakfast was gorgeous and just what you want for a hangover!! Would definitely stay there again.

Can't recommend this hotel enough. The room was comfortable and pleasing as was the bathroom. Altho' I always wonder why a small bar of soap isn't provided for those of us who choose to take a bath and not a shower. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The star of the show was the food - excellent, worthy of several stars. Worth the 200 mile drive and the views were breathtaking.

Stayed at the hotel for eight nights due to training in the local town of Greenfield. Rooms were spacious, comfy & cozy. Staff were all excellent, very warm, welcoming, helpful & friendly. With a special mention to the lovely Pippa, she was the highlight of the stay. However, the chef refused to cook pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, this was the low point of an otherwise enjoyable trip.

2 couples staying overnight for a funeral in the area. Stayed here as wake was being held there. Arrived early and rooms were ready. Had 2 rooms in cottage next door but one to hotel. Rooms were huge with a room off main bedroom with a single bed in. Bathrooms were amazing. We had bath and separate shower. Our rooms were on first floor up quite steep stairs. Not an issue for us. Staff were all friendly and even charged one of our phone's. Drinks and food are a bit expensive. Everywhere was spotless. The wake was held in a room at back of hotel looking over gardens. Plenty of staff to serve drinks and food. We had an evening meal in restaurant which was very nice. Breakfast next day was good. The only thing I thought was missing was fresh fruit and yogurts. Plus could of been some pastries. There was just cereals and juice on side table. Tea and coffee was freshly made, I had a hot chocolate. We had a very good deal on rooms. Just e-mail them and get prices as they may vary from their website. We stayed midweek. If we were in the area again would definitely stay here.

What we wanted. Cozy, warm, tasty Sunday lunch for my husband’s birthday. What we got. cold room. Bland tasteless meal which was only lukewarm, soon went cold. Slow service. Won’t be coming back. There was little atmosphere in the room the whole thing was disappointing and we couldn’t wait to leave to get warm in our car.

Excellent room poor breakfast No fresh tea or coffee offered at breakfast. Stewed tea and Coffee (not hot) in a pump flasks. How hard is it to bring hot drinks to the table like 98% of hotels in this class. Breakfast booked for 8am nothing ready. So went back to room to make some tea

We stayed here to attend a birthday party in the hotel. Wonderful hotel which met all all requirements. Ample parking, nice friendly reception staff and very pleasant lounge / bar area. Our room was in an annex a couple of minutes walk along from the hotel. The room was very fresh and very clean. Good size room and bathroom. (Our room even had a spare little room which would be ideal if travelling with children). Breakfast was very good apart from the coffee....

The White Hart Inn is an amazing hotel/restaurant in every way. The people, Charlotte, Claire, Michelle, Josie, Andrew and more are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my travels. I'm sure there are more that touched my stay that I don't know the names of. The food is Amazing. After two weeks, I tried just about everything on the menu and nothing was even a little disappointing. It was all fantastic and I looked forward to every meal. If I could give The White Hart a 10 star rating I would. I can't thank everyone there enough for making my longer than expected stay a wonderful experience. Stay or eat here! You will not be disappointed!
