Hotel Restaurant le Lion d'Or

Lovely hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Room was lovely with fantastic shower! Beds comfortable too. Lovely food in restaurant and great breakfast. Would recommend! :-)

We slept here for a few night to visit the coast of Normandy and Bretagne. The hotel is small and replay well managed. The room was really large with two communicating rooms and a nice bathroom. The room was perfectly clean and proper. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it surely proposes a quality dinner.

Great hotel in St Hilaire du Harcouet. Has a good car park in a great location that’s easy to find. Rooms are a nice size with well appointed en-suite shower room. Wi-Fi is easy to use which is perfect to catch up on work when needed. The room was a little on the warm side (probably better than cold) but fresh air easy through the casement window although some road noise which wasn’t excessive until the rush hour began (it was wet so that probably makes a difference) The Chef’s Menu has a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 deserts all of which are brilliant (both of us having a different choice!). The food was excellent, well presented and the amuse bouche delicious too. Highly recommend the food even if you don’t stay there. Good wine list also available. A small bar is available for pre or post dinner drinks (or both if you are inclined no doubt). All in all a good hotel, reasonably priced and well appointed.

We stayed in a triple room for a week while settling our daughter in as she began her exchange year. The hotel was great but the staff are exceptional especially Julie who couldn't do enough to help us and is continuing to offer any help she can to my daughter. Julie goes above and beyond her role and made our stay even better. Thank you for everything Julie and for continuing to be there for Emily if she needs some help or advice. You are a wee star!

Stayed here on the last night of a multiday tour of the Véloscénie. A beautiful, well marked bike trail from Paris to Mont St-Michel. We called ahead to check on their bicycle accommodations. They have secure storage at the hotel. Great we thought knowing that our eBikes cost a small fortune. The secure storage is a garage of sorts behind the hotel with a gravel floor and no electrical outlets. Further the door looked flimsy with only a turn handle lock. Humm, it doesn't have to be pretty and we can charge our batteries in our room but the actual security of the location was dubious at best. I wasn't sleeping so I went back and checked on this "secure storage" slightly after midnight. To my horror it was unlocked with the door slightly ajar. I fully opened the flimsy door and luckily our bikes and the others who trusted their bikes in the hotel's secure area were there. I was not happy to say the least. Rang the bell at reception but nobody came. It was after midnight. I call the hotel and got an answer and then the receptionist came out. She said she wasn't finished with her shift and was going to lock it… Honestly, I didn't believe it and either way thousands of Euros worth of bikes were just there for the taking most of the evening. OK, it's not a big city but even small towns have theft. For me, this is completely unacceptable. No confidence in the secure location and especially no diligence on the hotel staff to actually lock the garage.

I don’t normally write reviews - but this fabulous hotel makes an exception. From the warm, friendly welcome to the fantastic food, this hotel was superb. Highly recommended.

The hotel itself is nice, with a large free car park and a garden. Everything is clean and comfortable, we could have done with another chair in the room. The staff are very friendly, especially Natalia. Breakfast is a bit expensive, but is very nice.
