The lake view from my room was fantastic. But the service experience in the breakfast is bad. We were singled out and asked/ordered “not to take anything away, ok!” I don’t know why she said that, may be we were eating too much as per her standard.

A lovely hotel, beautifully decorated, takes you back in time to the grandeur of days gone by. We had a room with a view. The lake and the Alps, just beautiful! Loved sitting at the desk at the window looking out over the lake. A cool breeze blowing through the open windows.

I first came to the Soldanella on the recommendation of a close friend who has been using the hotel (a few times a year) for over two decades. The location, overlooking the lake, is quite spectacular so it's definitely worth paying the extra for a rear facing room. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed with more than adequate storage and hanging space. During the winter season, it is a real mecca for anyone related to the St. Moritz Tobogganing Club (STMC ) - whenever the run is open, you're guaranteed to find excitable Cresta Riders staying here and in the afternoon / evening, they'll be in the bar and restaurant, regaling stories of their morning's endeavours, fastest times, near misses and spectacular falls. Whether enjoying dinner in the bar or in the restaurant (breakfast, lunch and dinner) the food served is always of the highest standard. Urs and his excellent team always do everything in their power to make our stay perfect - the "Solly" is the ONLY place to stay in St. Moritz.

Fabulous location and views. Exceptional bed, pillows and duvet. VERY COMFORTABLE. Room and en-suite a bit dated, but fabulous view. Good breakfast. Tables with linen tablecloths, but shame about cheap paper napkins. Please be very clear about what the transfer costs are from station to hotel and return.

The plus is the view - if you get a lake view room. The negatives are: The whole place smells of stale cigarettes which we assumed when we arrived was because someone had stepped out for a cigarette and it had wafted inside. At 5.00 the quite rude lady from behind reception was sitting at the bar smoking which we found extraordinary in this day and age. We sat outside but it wafted through the vents. Then all the locals oiled in as the smoking continued until after 11.00pm - we know as sadly our room overlooked the lake but also was above the bar so with the window open (it was warm and there is no aircon) the foils smell wafted out of vent and up to room. I really am staggered people are still smoking inside any building. In addition the hotel is dated and shabby, the food is very mediocre and the only pleasant staff are the ones in the dining area.

Room & bedding was great. Good customer at reception, restaurant & bar. Really quiet a charming and historical. Would highly recommend. Only issue would be that smoking was allowed inside the bar, which drove us out & smelled up the reception area into the next day.
