Le Cap Hornu

I would recommend the hotel because of its beautiful location - right on the bay - and the friendliness of the staff. The parking ( free ) is also an asset. The grounds are beautifully maintained. A pity, though, that the restaurant has a limited choice of menus, but the food you get is OK.

Spent one night in a basic room, which proved to be clean and cosy, if a little small. The hotel compound may feel a little dated, but is perfectly comfortable, with a small outdoor pool, nice bar with terrace - all within a short walk/cycle to the sea front. We ate on-site and enjoyed some fantastic food, with good service in a nicely decorated restaurant.

We liked the overall look and feel of the hotel complex - a collection of buildings in a rustic setting overlooking the sea. There's a very pleasant walk along the sea front to St Valery sur Somme - it took us about 25 minutes or so and I'd definitely recommend it as an alternative to driving into town. There's a swimming pool and tennis courts available to guests. Great welcome from reception staff and easy check in. Our room was on the first floor of one of the buildings and it turned out to be split level with the bed on a mezzanine level in the eaves. On entering the room there is nice bathroom (with great shower) but the room itself was small with a single bed taking up space where perhaps a small sofa could have been placed. Narrow, steep stairs take you up to the next level - a tiny space with no room for anything else other than the small double bed. Other than a feature wall in green wallpaper, the whole room was painted in a very dull beige which didn't help the overall ambiance. Unfortunately, we found it to be quite cramped, possibly because of the sloping walls which perhaps made it seem smaller than it was and I don't think it really came up to expectations. On the plus side, there's a great bar at this hotel and the staff were so friendly and chatty and the restaurant looked very inviting. There's a separate breakfast room and we decided to try out the breakfast on one of the mornings. Having been directed to an empty table, we were expecting someone to lay the table with cutlery/serviettes etc but that didn't happen. We were left to our own devices and, in the end, we had to ask where to find the cutlery - we never did find the serviettes! The buffet offerings were fine, the usual choices of cereals, cheeses, meats and pastries that you'd expect in a hotel. I think we would consider staying at this hotel again because we liked its location and setting. It was also very quiet at night which is definitely a bonus. However, we would definitely ask for a different style of room - something in one of the other buildings on the site.

We had a very nice short vacation at Le Cap Hornu… Restaurant was also very good, but would be better with some more choices on the menu, 4 starters and 4 main dishes is a bit few if you want to stay for a week of more..’

Very very poor customer service at our arrival check in - Staff acted like robots rather than humans. "Computer says no" type of attitude that you wouldn't expect in a resort like that. No appreciation of personal circumstances - we were refused access because my son didn't have the correct QR code despite being forthcoming with the issue as we arrived and explaining that there was a problem transferring covid data between the NHS covid App and the French covid App. Assumption is that you are lying.... Tried to show different proofs but as those couldn't be scanned and give the "green light" it was simply NO. We were then sent to the nearest Pharmacy (25 min drive away) to have a Covid test done at 7pm - I decided to do this alone with my son so that my husband and my daughter could just check in while we did that after a long journey - only to be told that they could not give my daughter her room key bc my son (sharing a room with her) had not been able to check in bc of no QR code. Again - assumption is that you are going to try and cheat and not get the test done!! Very very very disappointed with the level of understanding of the staff. We obliged - my daughter having to wait one hour to check in after we came back from the pharmacy. Issue was brought up with manager the next morning as no one was around the night before. It was vaguely appreciated that the room key refusal was a step too far but no apologies and mostly simply stood there quoting the company procedures and processes. Very very frustrated with what seemed a company wide robot behaviour. Will not stay again. and would recommend smaller family run, boutique hotels in the town below as I got great feedback from friends thereafter. As far as the rooms were concerned the twin room the children had was much smaller than anticipated - everything is little dated too. The Dble room was a prestige room and a little bigger but under the eaves so if you are tall one area is not really usable. Bed ok. Best part about it is the situation and the views over the bay at sunrise and sunset

We spent 3 nights in this hotel. The surroundings are beautiful and the place is located outside of Saint Valery sur Somme. You need a car in any case. Personal is very friendly which is great. On the other hand the service at the restaurant is poor. Every day you have groups coming by bus and guests are put as second priority. On evening we have been waiting for 55 min to have our meal (one soup and one piece of meat). The question is where you set priorities for your stay.

Cadre et vue superbes. Jardins variés très bien entretenus, très agréables. Chambres très confortables, très propres, à disposition tisanes,café et petites bouteilles d'eau. Restaurant gastronomique. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour en famille. Nous y retournerons avec plaisir.

Je reviens d un week-end à st Valery avec une nuitée au cap hornu mais quel bonheur Chambre 403 ! Le bonheur vue sur la baie ! Lit très confortable ! Bravo j adore cet endroit Je commence +++ Petit dej parfait un grand choix ( gâteau battu ) a goûter!

Ce que nous n'avons pas apprécié lors de notre séjour : la météo à notre arrivée (vue bouchée). Vous pouvez facilement comprendre que cet hôtel / restaurant n'y est pour rien pour cette petite désillusion. Ce que nous avons fortement apprécié : - l'accueil par Zoé (avec son sourire et ses merveilleux conseils) et le service de l'ensemble du personnel. - le confort et le calme de la chambre - la haute qualité du repas - la beauté du domaine et du site - le choix du buffet au petit déjeuner : Waouh ! (c'est rare en France d'avoir autant de produits de Qualité proposés au petit déjeuner). J'ai surtout apprécié le fait, qu'étant venu avec une box, nous avons été considérés comme des clients "normaux", car très souvent, nous avons droit à des prestations partielles. Nous reviendrons.
