A nice hotel at the beach in Barra. Ocean views are lovely. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is solid. The gym could use help - better equipment and AC units that both work.

Positives: nice location, friendly staff
Negatives: small room, old small hotel, room lacks necessary stuff like iron, pool very small and not cleaned properly.

I don't often write reviews, but the staff at Monte Paschal Praia really do deserve some recognition for being so friendly, welcoming and helpful, especially when dealing with a complicated multi-part reservation, broken adapters et cetera. We were upgraded to a sea-view room, with a wonderful view of the bay. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, the breakfast buffet is delicious and the pool is perfect for cooling off on hotter days.

Great location, close to the beach and in a relatively safe area of Salvador. The hotel is well-maintained albeit starting to show signs of age.

This is an average hotel at best. Although I appreciated the cleanliness, the helpfulness of the staff and the ocean view from my room, I personally did not enjoy the Barra area and felt the hotel was not really worth the price. I would look elsewhere next time in Salvador.
