Don Gregory by Dunas - Adults Only

We have just returned from the Dunas Don Gregory and 1 week just wasn’t enough. We had a wonderful stay in the most perfect room (131) opposite the lower pool. Every morning I would just open the patio door and I was there right in the garden next to the peaceful pool-absolute bliss! My husband is a Road cyclist and and there was plenty of room to to keep his bike (rented from Free Motion about 10 mins walk away) in the room. He says the hotel is the perfect location for all of his favourite rides. It is also great for bus travel and most afternoons we caught the terrific Global bus service somewhere (Las Palmas, Puerto Morgan, Amadores) or we walked to the sand dunes in Maspalomas along the excellent walkway directly outside the hotel. The hotel has plenty of bars/restaurants around and supermarkets opposite. The hotel buffet for breakfast and dinner was really good, had enough variety for us and the team in there work very hard. The position of this hotel is a big selling point I feel and sets it apart from other hotels in the area. It has direct access to the beach and the views are lovely, we loved hearing the sound of the waves and eating meals looking out onto the beach. It was a very peaceful hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Will definitely be returning.

There was no cause for complaint or disappointment with this well-managed, conveniently located beach front hotel. Comfortable bed; adequate bedroom maintained each day; reasonable choice from a buffet menu, breakfast and dinner and very pleasant staff!

On arrival very efficient check in. Great staff on Reception. Our Room 810 was very spacious internally and spotlessly clean. The Balcony was on the small side slightly obscured on LH side. Not a problem as area by Pool great. Sun beds are reserved by Lifeguard for those of us with disabilities. There were plenty of sun-beds for all so towel dash unnecessary. We found all the staff at hotel extremely friendly even though some of them couldn’t always understand English. It seems as though English guests are in the minority. The Pool is one of the best I’ve used abroad with amazing access into the lovely warm water. Never crowded, sometimes having it to myself. There was daily Aquafit which popular with men and women. The Lifeguard Diego was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble for him. When the shade went from Sun bed he’d willingly adjust the position of umbrella. Never had this service before. There was plenty to eat in the Restaurant but found it seemed to cater more for Europeans. Loved the Omelettes breakfast time which were cooked to order. The Wine Waiter Marcos was very helpful. Also there are tables reserved for those with mobility issues, making it easier to access the food counters. A special thank you to waitress Angelina who seemed to work all over the bars. Her English was very good. Also the head barman in Entertainment Bar very obliging. Nice touch having beds turned down and nightdress made to look pretty. I found the bed hard so after first night had a mattress topper. Fine after that. Loved the Adult Only vibe. The only downer to me, due to mobility issues, was the area outside hotel. The Shopping Centre leaves a lot to be desired and there is no lift between floors, just steep hills to walk up. Not many shops open either. Fortunately there is a supermarket ground floor level.

Excellent Hotel with excellent staff in Excellent location! We arrived to a friendly welcome and smooth check in. Our room was modern and clean and very well equipped. Only slight ****** was that the shower drained quite slowly and the door didn't close perfectly so we did get a bit of water leaking out. Our room was on 7th floor and had great views over the sea. I believe all rooms are sea facing. We had a very comfortable stay and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was excellent. We were tempted to upgrade to all inclusive based on that but just across the road from the hotel is a centre with shops, bars, and restaurants galore which we wanted to try. They were all great! When we first arrived we wondered if there would be noise from the centre, but there never was. The pool areas were clean and well organised. The beach is accessed by crossing the promenade. The promenade was a nice walk- goes to the Dunes We had a Spa visit included in our stay which unfortunately we didn't get to use as you had to book a time. Unfortunately by the time we got round to doing that there were no slots left, so when we return we will make sure we do that straight away. Hubbie is a cyclist and there were a couple of places in the centre that hired them out - much to his delight! You have to pay 20Euros for a pool towel, but it is refunded at the end of your stay when you return the towel. We did have an issue where hotel records said that we had already returned our towels the day before, but it was sorted out quickly and smoothly. All in all we really enjoyed our stay- hotel and location were spot on and we hope to return again.

Our sixth night here and it’s truly an amazing modern hotel. We arrived late at night but had food ready for us and our room was on floor two, which is bellow reception level. In the morning we had a limited view due to the walkway and level of our room. Reception moved our room the next day up to level 4. What a difference beautiful views of the bay and the beach. The rooms are modern as is the whole hotel, food is fantastic and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Yoga on the beach, aquarobics and a small but well equipped gym. The beach which is across a walkway is so clean and really not busy, ideal for a walk or a dip in the sea. Five days left and enjoying every moment.

The hotel was recommended to us and we weren’t disappointed ! Check in was quick although it would have been good to be told how to use the safe in the room instead of having to ask the next day. We arrived late at night and the restaurant was closed but there were filled rolls and fruit available if we wanted them. After a long day travelling we declined. Entering our room we were surprised to see the shower, toilet and sink on view in the room. Tempered glass is used but it doesn’t hide things. There is a curtain to hide your blushes but not much use. We were worried about the steam making the room and our clothes damp but leaving the balcony door open seemed to help. One issue was the water escaped under the door and made the floor very wet.The other issue being the toilet. It could do with being soundproofed😂 other than that one of us sat on the balcony. Ill let you draw your own conclusions as to why! The bed was absolutely ginormous and very comfortable. There’s a fridge in the room which we used for water and fresh milk bought from the Spar opposite the hotel entrance. There’s enough for one days drinks so it’s advisable to take your own tea bags and coffee if you want a drink in the morning when you wake up. We helped ourselves to the sugar sachets from breakfast. It’s unfortunate that the hotel doesn’t provide water for free unless on All inclusive but it was cheap enough from the supermarket. We even saw people buying cans of soft drinks and taking them back to the hotel to drink by the pool. Breakfast was plentiful. My gluten intolerance was well catered for. I only had to ask the Maitre de to ask for some bread and it was there within minutes. Gluten free hot baguettes too. Dinner was good and plenty of choices. Always hot. The staff in the restaurant were amazing. Always on the go making sure tables were cleared and set again quickly. Very pleasant and happy to converse with you too. We watched a couple of nights entertainment. One the Beatles tribute was good, entertaining and funny too. The Boogie nights weren’t to my husband’s taste but I enjoyed singing along. We didn’t go to any of the bingo nights though. After breakfast we walked back and forth on the beach right outside the hotel. The sand looks black and we were reluctant to walk on it at first but a tractor came along every morning to compact it down so you don’t end up with black feet. There’s also a nice walk either way from the hotel if you wish to get your steps in. Our balcony had a sea view and it was lovely to see the local families enjoying themselves and especially hearing the children laughing and screaming when they ran into the sea. We only had one day when it was a struggle to get a sun bed. It states that towels are removed if you leave them too long but it only happened once that we saw. They are also very close together which is something we’re not used to but we managed. We got talking to a lovely couple Wendy and Nigel who taught us the game Rummikub

Overall very good. Hotel fab on an excellent location. Plenty food. Most the staff work so so hard. The negativity is not on the hotel mainly. Weather not as good as Fuerteventura for example at this time. Not many British people, again not normally a problem but unfortunately quite rude. We were driven off our sunbeds unfortunately by bad behaviour of others.

The hotel is beautiful staff lovely reception staff not nice atall GUEST TERRIBLE they were all pensioners but we got complained about for having fun in pool at 6pm so left it at that but the next night we met some Canadian ladies who were there for conference one was a scientist her wife it expert the other lady was a gynecologist we were all having a good time then some ignorant guest threw water at us from a room above when we complained we were told 400 guests this is a quiet hotel sorry but it was adult only but not pensioners only and you had to be German can't fault meals or waiting or cleaning staff just felt so bored and couldn't even laugh my daughter and her man came with me I'm not even pension age terrible atmosphere not recommending this hotel this should be stated PENSIONERS ONLY very bad atmosphere all day and the looks and stares were not nice atall the look off disgust was terrible my daughter has bi polar disorder which put her on a real downer and I was angry with the disrespect shown to us and it also should be stated germans only we are scottish very bad reception we had

All the staff we encountered here were friendly and helpful. Stayed in a junior suite on 8th floor which was very quiet and had great sea views, two bathrooms, comfortable beds and quiet AC (though didn’t need as there was a sea breeze and no mosquitoes!). Breakfast was good but take your own tea bags. Didn’t have other meals as the shopping centre at the back of the hotel contains plenty of places to eat and drink and there are 6/7 places along the beach too. We weren’t in for the evening entertainment but what we did catch seemed good. There is beach yoga, pool exercise and cocktail making during the day. The main pool was lovely and warn but I didn’t try the ‘infinity’ pool as it was quite small. Able to get a sunbed easily and there is a policy of removing towels after 1/2 hour if necessary. No idea if this would be actually adhered to in the summer months but wasn’t needed in April. Tiny spa but fine as no one else in there- be warned, you have to wear a plastic shower cap…good for hygiene but not aesthetically pleasing! Had a back massage which was brilliant. One negative is that some parts of the hotel could do with a bit of TLC and a lick of paint. If you go for a white minimalist look, you need to keep it pristine. We weren’t too bothered as it was very clean and that was more important.
