This is now the only hotel I'll consider when staying in Santa Monica. Everything about my stay here was excellent from the moment I stepped through the front door. This is a boutique hotel that knows how to do good service. The staff were all, ALL, exceptional and went above and beyond. They were friendly but also discreet. I had a small room facing the rear (the view wasn't special but I knew this when I booked) but it was such a comfortable room. The design elements throughout the hotel have been very well thought out. The bed was perfect and I slept like a baby all three nights. The shower and bathroom were excellent as were the bath products. The robes! Wow. I never consider buying one and I came close (didn't have enough space in my luggage). The design throughout the hotel is so well thought-out. Its stylish but comfortable. Everything is beautiful. The restaurant Sirena was also delicious and should be stopped at for at least one meal. I really can't wait to stay here again.

The prices of hotels in this area are pretty competitive,so don’t don’t be fooled by the shore hotel’s rates! The hotel is nice, in a prime location, and each and every staff member was kind and extremely helpful. We met Ramon on the first night of our stay and he and the rest of the staff have been nothing but personable, helpful and attentive. To top it all off, the hotel food is actually better than some of the much more expensive restaurants in the area. Moral of the story: stay at the shore hotel, you won’t be disappointed!

The room is relatively large, with twin beds, each bed is 1.5 meters. The room decoration, lamps and bedding are more elegant. Go out to the right, turn left at the intersection for about 50 meters and you will arrive at Santa Monica Beach. The hotel is in a relatively central location with many restaurants. Hotel parking is more expensive, it costs 55 knives. But there is a public parking lot on the street behind, 15 dollars for 24 hours, 20 dollars on Saturday and Sunday. The most caring people I have ever encountered. Upon arrival from AUS at 8.30 am my phone battery was flat and my bank travel Mastercard card wasn’t working so I was unable to pay the taxi driver. I was travelling solo and hadn’t slept in 36 hours so I was stressed and barely lucid when I walked in to the hotel. Lucia at front desk took care of things for me. We got my phone working, got the cab driver paid then she called house keeping and organised a room to be cleaned ASAP so I could check in early. I was in my room in bed by 10am thanks to her. After a lovely afternoon out and about, the next morning I woke up vomiting and running a fever. They don’t have room service so the front desk staff brought anti-nausea ***** and water up to my room within 3 minutes of me calling. They offered to phone and check in on me throughout the day as they knew I was travelling alone. The next morning when I checked out at 5.30am to get to LAX I got in my Uber and as it was about to leave the woman on front desk came running out, stopped us from leaving and said to me “you said your Uber’s a Nissan, this isn’t a Nissan, you should get out of the car”. It turned out a previous guest had taken my Uber. Once we realised this, the driver of the Uber I was in would not take me, told me to leave his vehicle and get my bags out of his car. As I had a plane to catch and was worried I would miss it, the same front desk lady rang me a cab which arrived in minutes. If you are a solo traveller STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! The rooms are beautiful, spacious and clean. To top it all off Lucia didn’t charge me for early check in; she said given how stressful getting there had been, it was the least she could do to help. Gifts from God and great beds to boot!

Staff super helpful from start, room nice and clean, location is great (walking distance from SM pier)… the wifi provided for free is enough for what you have to do on a regular day (option to upgrade to fast for a fee) valet parking available for $45 a day ( the area charges around $30 per day for public parking, so its a good deal as you can go in an out as many times as you can)

The hotel is in a good location and in a good location, just 4.5 minutes to Santa Monica Beach. Because the language is not very good, the front desk staff is very enthusiastic. The room is large and the bed is large.

Stayed here over Christmas and enjoyed it immensely. From start to finish staff was incredible. We had an early morning flight in and they were able to get us checked in as soon as we arrived. Which was very much unexpected and greatly appreciated. As a diamond member, they upgraded us to a huge suite with a kitchen even. Again. Not expected but truly appreciated. Alert staff were friendly and always quick on the draw. Housekeeping did a great job of keeping the room clean. Everyone in the restaurant was always friendly and accommodating. And I tell ya, Lucian makes one heck of an old fashioned!! Location was nice but there wasn’t a lot nearby so it was usually a long walk or car ride to get to restaurants, the pier, etc. the beach looks closer than it actually is but it’s not too bad a walk to get there. All in all a great stay and we hope to visit again!!

My new favorite hotel in Los Angeles is the Proper hotel Santa Monica. From the minute I arrived I felt enveloped in understated luxury. The color scheme is neutral and relaxing and everything is designed to calm the senses and the mind. This is a very generous hotel offering free boxes of water and a beautiful coffee and tea spread every morning. This type of generosity goes a long way to building loyalty and making a guest feel special. The rooms are beautifully appointed. This compensates for the small size of the rooms. The gym is one of the best fitness centers I have been to in any hotel and the equipment is up to date and in excellent condition. The roof top bar is chic and stylish without being pretentious. I loved this hotel and will return again and again. I would say it is in my top ten in the world!

It's a 10-minute walk to Santa Monica Beach.But there's a lot of homelessness on the road. I can't get around late at night. The hotel staff is very good. The man wearing glasses is a little cynical when checking in. The room I reserved was the smallest and the lighting was very dark. Keep that in mind.

Enjoyed our stay! The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable, which is the most important part for my stay! We asked for extra blankets and towels which were brought up quickly. Breakfast was simple which is fine, I'm not much for eating early. Location was good, busy area coming in and out of the hotel.
