Rivari Santorini Hotel

Mooie locatie, op loopafstand van het strand en weg van drukte. Goed, net gerenoveerde kamers en fijn balkon.

Very nice and cosy hotel, we were quite happy that we chose it for our stay in Santorini. Everything was excellent – our room, the breakfast, the garden with all the flowers, palm trees and wonderful bougainvillea everywhere... And as I said bougainvillea, we had one on our balcony and we had wonderful experience with it. We were sleeping on an open door to have some fresh air, so on the morning we woke up in a room, covered by flowers (brought inside by the wind). It was a thing you never forget. The staff was also very nice. We had a special request for the beds in our room, which was fulfilled and and that made our stay even better. You have to walk a little for the beach, but it's not too far. The bus stop is a little bit closer and when you ask on the reception for the direction, they give you their visit card with a small map of Kamari on it and they write to you your way on it, so no way you can get lost. :)

We stayed at the end of September as a family of 3 with a 2 year old. The hotel is pretty and a 5 minute walk to Kamari itself. There’s a chess set that kids can play with and also a kids area with swings and a slide. There’s also a ping ping table we didn’t use, but great for older kids. You collect the paddles from the pool bar. Bedroom: Recently refurbished and they’re still refurbishing rooms. AC was quite loud, and gave us a bit of a sore throat whilst there. The extract funnels into the outside area and our patio outside was concave so it heated it massively, so we didn’t really sit outside because of that. Great to dry clothes however. Rooms were basic, there’s a fridge, beds were comfy enough, good travel cot for our small person. The smell people are referring too is the water as it has a high sulphur content. It’s not the drains, this is the same on any small island. Breakfast: Very sweet staff. It’s a varied continental which is well stocked and looked after. We found something each day no problem. Help yourself to high chairs. It’s a very relaxing ambiance sat outside. Pool: Loveliest man running the pool bar, nothing was too much problem at all. We enjoyed each afternoon around the pool after exploring, and our daughters flamingo and arm bands were able to be left there so we didn’t have to lug it around each day. The food was lovely, we ate twice in the day. The hotel doesn’t serve dinner or drinks once the pool bar is closed. There is a shower room in the main hotel near the breakfast area, we only found out about this when we went to use the toilets waiting to check out. We were told we couldn’t have a late check out, but surely we could have been told about this facility. We hired a car from the airport it’s cheaper, and we didn’t enjoy the bus to Fira so decided to hire once there. The hotel is great value, with amazing people working hard each day to run it. The couple who work behind the pool bar and at breakfast were who made our holiday. They even introduced our daughter to their dog Lupin. We would visit again, thank you

Good location close to the Kamari beach. Hotel doesn’t provide a kettle in the room which was a bit annoying you had to go to the breakfast room to get a coffee, which your not allowed to take back to your rooms.

The staff is really helpful and kind. It is important to note that the water in the taps is salty, originating from sea water. We had to stock up on drinking bottles . The breakfast is not very rich. The meals at the pool bar are excellent. We had a serious leak in the room, from sewers.We didnt received any compensation or even an offer for a compensation.

We had a lovely stay at Rivari hotel, 3 adults sharing a family room with 2 bedrooms. Clean and spacy, with the extra benefit of 2 bathrooms. The only downside were the beds, which were too hard for us. Othwerwise nothing to complain about, the staff was really flexible and nice, so we would surely visit again!

Nice clean hotel with a good size pool and jacuzzi. There are enough sun beds to accommodate everyone but sometimes the music could be lowered. We had a lovely spacious room overlooking the pool which had everything that you could want. Unfortunately the beds were extremely hard and very uncomfortable and the air con was outdated and loud. All other guests that I spoke to had exactly the same issues, so a bit disappointing. The poolside bar has a range of basic light snacks, bottles of beer and soft drinks. However, possibly based on price, most people purchased externally and then sat on their own balcony whilst still overlooking the pool or gardens, so not as well used as the owners would have liked. Breakfast is excellent with a range of English and continental choices although a selection of fruit would have been welcome, but this certainly did not detract from it. Location is good with a 5 to 10 min flat walk to the centre and beach making it an ideal base. Overall a nice hotel that needs some attention.

Just to start this off im not someone who moans or pick holes in everything, I don’t do reviews normally, but this hotel is worthy of one as I want people to see our experience and reconsider booking this hotel. The location: This hotel is located on a road with no pavement or street lighting, on our way from the airport the taxi man was telling us a 16 year old died the other week on the road as cars at night can’t see people coming - to top it off he nearly ran someone over - they aren’t the best of drivers out there! Anyway with our 1 year old baby, this was far from ideal when walking back from the ***** at night! We would have to walk very quickly with our phone lights shining. Room: The room initially was quite nice, however ... the bathroom smelt of dirty drains the whole time and the air con is not easy to use ! It’s quite témpleme tal and when it does work, it takes a very long time to actually cool the room down, our baby was absolutely sweating . Also we were given a kettle to warm up the baby’s food (this is not provided) anyway, what a health and safety hazard, the kettle handle gets so hot that it burnt my hand !! I had to use a towel whenever I picked it up - I complained and they didn’t really care just gave me a new one - which was exactly the same . The pool: I’d like to say the pool was the only positive thing - our 1 year old LOVED it as it has a shallow bit where she could run around chasing her ball, loved the cool bubble pool and the sprinklers, also the pool man gave us a baby float. HOWEVER, the water turned everything GREEN! All of our swimming bits are ruined god knows what they put in the water but it’s a shame and a slight concern. We ordered spaghetti one day and there was a small black hair in it! Very odd putting but I gave up complaining. The breakfast: All I can say is ... it is Minimal ! The staff: Wow what can I say about the staff, they are the least accommodating , least friendly and the rudest people I think I have ever met. Not one smile from any of them, we felt so unwelcome there and on the last day before we had to get a flight our baby was really sick, about half an hr before we had to leave for the airport she was sick all over my partner covering them both- they stank! We asked the staff to use a shower very quickly and the answer was no!!?? Well I then lost my head, they were quite happy to let us go to the airport covered in sick and to be honest this is DISGUSTING HOSPITALITY . If I could rate this hotel a zero I would. I tried complaining - this got me no where . I will be taking this further as is absolutely NOT worth the money. Please please reconsider before you come here, there are much nicer hotels.

The stay at this hotel was pretty disappointing. When we walked into the breakfast room for the first time I said hi to a guy working there. He barely responded to me, to the extend that I thought he might have been a guest like us, but he wasn’t. When we asked for a high chair, we were answered by the waitress :”Take it”. I don’t know if she was trying to put us on ease or she just wanted to do less, but there were things on top of the high chair she pointed out and I would not want to move stuff in a work place that is not mine. We used the pool for the majority of the time. My hair and bikini turned green! Also the ones from my family. When I showed my bikini to the receptionist, I was told it’s normal. Everything is fine with the pool, and I should expect these things to happen because of the chemicals they put in. REALLY?! We never had this happening in any other pool before. I did tell them I was going to do a negative review and I wanted to discuss this with them first, but clearly I was the mad one and none else had complained about swimming costumes turning green. I was told it is in my rights to do it. It has taken me a lot of effort to get my normal hair color back and manage to wash off the green color from the swimming costumes. When I did my research online, very worryingly read that clothes turn green because there is an excess of copper in the water and the water of the pool doesn’t get changed often enough. This is very scary. A positive note to end. The guy working at the pool is a real star. He is the sweetest man. Gave presents to our children and tried to accommodate us in everything he could. Pity for everything else.
