Summer Hotel Vuorilinna

The worst hotel we had in a 2 week baltic tour. Luckily the only bad one. It was the last available place in Savonlinna for a 3 day trip in reasonable walking distance to the Opera. And we sure found out why it was the only place still available, even booking 4 months ahead. we knew it would be primitive , with no TV or AC. Just an annex to the somewhat better ****** Spa hotel. Rooms had a narrow bed. No bedside light. Wire coat hangers. Sheets and towels were not changed or rooms cleaned except at extra unpublicized charge. Breakfast buffet was mediocre and separate from the ****** buffet which was only 25 meters away, and just a little better. And the cost was a non refundable $900 US for 3 nights. They knew they could gouge guests during the festival and did they ever... But we did enjoy the town and the opera and good meals elsewhere

This is not by any stretch of the imagination a hotel. It would be generous to describe it as a tired student hall of residence or a cheap backpaper's hostel that has seen better days. The room is stark and very poorly equipped. Advertised for 'self catering' there were no amenities whatsover provided - no crockery or cutlery, no cooking utensils, not even a mug. There was no hair dryer. But worse than the spartan accommodation, the 'curtains' were little more than thin sheets and not all the windows were fully covered. After I complained, some basic kitchen equipment and a hair dryer was provided and the curtains were replaced with something just about adequate. However, as shown in the pictures, one of the windows cannot be covered as there is no mounting rail. The sun rises bright and early in Finland so sleep under these conditions is difficult. I was forced to forage for some black refuse bin liners and create my own black out covering. All this for the ridiculous charge of €239 per night - for accommodation that would have been over-priced at €50. The hotel - who should be ashamed of themselves for this blatant price-gouging - apologised and we checked out early (one night refunded) and lost one day in this lovely town. It was the Opera Season which explains the cynical approach. Had we not had tickets for 2 performances we would have never have stayed a single night. AVOID! PS:breakfast is just about adequate in quantity, very average in quality & OJ highly dilute!

Very nice, very clean student accomodation that serves as a budget hotel in the summer, of course not really low-budget during the Savonlinna Opera Festival, but really priceworthy. The two spacious rooms with a small kitchen and a balcony would have been ideal even for a longer stay. Delicious breakfast, lovely surroundings, service-minded staff, and even the use of a small spa included.

An bare and empty dorm-style room with a shared bathroom and no amenities. Clean but disappointing at the $200 a night range.

This should be more accurately advertised as a hostel rather than a hotel. The room was more like a dirty hospital room than a hotel room. There was a kitchenette attached which was in the advertisement but no utensils or plates or anything to make it useful. The beds are small and uncomfortable, no television or air conditioning. I would have been perfectly fine paying half of the cost of this stay if the ********** listing was more accurate. My wife and I stayed in the Main Hotel last summer really enjoyed our room and stay for exactly the same price. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you are desperate for just a place to sleep. Breakfast was OK.

Kolmen yön oopperamatkalla mieheni kanssa. Kesähotelli ei ole hotelli, ennemminkin B&B. Aamiainen kohtalainen. Aamiaispöydässä voisi olla merkintä, mitä missäkin kipossa on. Helpottaisi monista ruoka-aineongelmista kärsivän ruokailua. Jos juot mustaa teetä aamulla, varaa omat teet mukaan, hotellilla ei ole varaa hankkia sitä pöytään. Maksuton parkkialue hyvä. Viimeisen aamun yhden henkilön suihkuttelun jälkeen suihkuhuoneen lattia lainehti. Ilmoitimme asiasta lähtiessä ja jäi vaikutelma, että näin käy useinkin.

Sain kutsuvierasliput oopperaan Sevillan parturi. Majoitus oli ongelma, sillä missään ei ollut vapaata. Pistin kaikki Savonlinnan hotellit jonoon ja aloin kytätä mahdollisia peruutuspaikkoja. Yli kolmen tunnin työn jälkeen tärppäsi ja onnistuneesti, sillä kesähotelli Vuorilinna oli erinomainen majoittumispaikka.

Huippuhyvä fiilis jäi matkasta! Huone oli ymmärrettävästi hieman askeettinen, koska kesäkauden ulkopuolella se on osa opiskelija-asuntolaa. Siltikin sängyt olivat erinomaiset. Huoneita oli yhdistettynä kaksi, harmillisesti vain yksi yhteinen kylpyhuone. Keittiö oli positiivinen lisä viihtyvyyteen. Hotellin henkilökunta oli erinomaisen ystävällistä! Hymy oli heillä herkässä - myös silmät hymyilivät aidosti, mikä on harvinaista. Aamiainen oli erittäin positiivinen yllätys. Valinnanvaraa riitti, myös vegaaninen versio oli tarjolla. Kauniilla ilmalla oli leppoisaa nauttia aamiaista ulkoterassilla. Lokit eikä muutkaan isokokoiset linnut eivät päässeet pilaamaan ruokailijoiden rauhaa, koska tila oli ympäröity verkoilla. Parkkipaikat olivat ilmaiset, mistä iso plussa! Polkupyöriä oli tarjolla lainaksi kahdeksi tunniksi. Kylpylä oli pienoinen pettymys, pieni allas, eikä sieltä ollut pääsyä ulkoilmaan, vaikka oli lämmin ilma. Tulee kyllä jatkossakin käytyä tässä kohteessa, suosittelen!

Huoneisto muuten ihan ok mutta keittiöön olisi kaivannut vedenkeitintä ja lautasia. ja aterimia. Kylpyhuoneeseen olisi toivonut kuivainta millä lattian olisi voinut kuivata suihkun jälkeen. Hotellin aamupala oli pettymys. Maultaan ruoka olisi ollut maukasta jos sitä olisi ollut tarjolla. Mutta melkein kaikki astiat olivat tyhjiä. Eikä aamupala-aika ollut lähelläkään loppumista. Kahvi loppunut keittimestä ja sen jälkeen tarjolla vaan teräskannussa ilman kantta ja lämpölevyä! Mehu loppu.
