We have visited Long Island back in June 2021 and fell in love with Cape Santa Maria region - at the time we had stayed in the south and drove 2 days in a row 1.5h each way to experience this beauty... so needless to say when my wife's birthday was coming up and she has told me in the past how much she loved it... well I had to make it happen and we, despite pretty hefty price tag, stayed here this time at the stunning Cape Santa Maria Resort - and we loved it! :) Location: 1.5h drive from the LGI airport... or 20m drive from the smaller SML airport... if you go Bahamas Air then the long drive is the only option, otherwise you can land at SML and take a super short one and enjoy the CSM right away :) this was our 2 visit and considering how the other airlines changed on us the first time I have decided to go with the national scheduled airline this time, despite the long drive... now that you are at Cape Santa Maria... this is our top 3 beach location we had seen ever, and we had seen a lot when it comes to tropical beauties :) once here you really dont need to leave, it's got it all! Room: the little bungalows were very cozy, though some wear and tear showed, definitely for the price paid some TLC could have been applied, though other than that it was perfect - we truly appreciated the patio with the net, especially in the morning - loved picking up morning coffee and brining it back to the room to chill in the morning, plus the views - otherwise room is fairly basic but what really do you need? (unless you stay in those high end villas) - no TV, but with a safe, decent A/C, mini fridge, perfect for a stay Food & restaurants: the restaurant on the spot is def pricey with the % tax etc included but the food is tasty, people friendly, views amazing... perfect combo - otherwise it's about 15-20m drive from here and nothing really to rave about Hotel Grounds: we loved the evening strolls along the shoreline on the "mini boardwalk" - the friendly local cat would even join us from time to time :) it's a cozy small waterfront "village" with some palms trees, greenery etc. Beach: Cape Santa Maria, CSM! CSM! We fell in loved with it 4 years ago, we had seen by then Bora Bora, Exuma and the like - but this was the place we returned to - we absolutely love it and think it's still a hidden gem, as is really Long Island, Bahamas (maybe it's the name?) just look at the pictures... Things to do: CSM... and then if you are up for exploring def do see the Dean's Blue Hole while on Long Island, it's a must... after that maybe the Columbus Point and the Erna's Nature Pool at Stella Maris - Long Island has a lot of cool places to visit, but it's a looooooooong island to drive through and once you are here make the most out of this stunning location Overall: it was cool to return to this stunning place, especially as the resort guest rather than just chilling on the beach + lunch experience, we had fun during morning and evenings here at CSM - definitel
