As mentioned in my previous review, we stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during our first stop in Shanghai and 1 more night in our second stop. This is the review for our second stop.
When we checked in the 2nd time, there was no warm welcome. In fact, the receptionist had a sour look on her face, not friendly or welcoming at all. We don't remember her name, it was Fanny? Fandy? Anyway, she said that our bed was 1.5 meters and asked if we wanted a bigger bed at 1.8 meters.
We realised this was somewhat similar to how when we first checked in during our 4 nights stay. This was exactly how the hotel reception would "persuade" you into paying more for your room. They will either say things like, "Your bed is small. Do you want to upgrade?" or "Your bedroom is facing the aircon vents. Do you want to upgrade?"
All this scheme in getting guests to pay more than what they have already paid for is really unethical. We have stayed in many hotels in many countries and have never come across such tricks before. On top of that, we stayed at several other hotels during our visit to China, and all other hotels gave us excellent service. This was, unfortunately, not the best. After these 2 experiences, I'm sorry to say that we will not return to this hotel the next time we visit Shanghai.
