Tiger Leaping Gorge Tea-Horse Guesthouse

What an absolute gem! I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place. The food and rooms were top-notch, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful with all our travel logistics.

We had a great stay! Arrived a bit earlier than check-in time but got accommodated at the restaurant while they finished up preparing our room and it was ready before we finished our meal! The room was cozy and comfortable, with heated beds and an amazing view of the mountains. The bathroom was clean and we've got all toiletries including a single use towel wich to be honest was better than my traveling one. They've got a cafe and a restaurant as well with breathtaking views, and a little store where you can buy water, snacks and some souvenirs. At reception they helped us with directions on how to get to Shangri-la after finishing the hike.

The guesthouse was in a spectacular location on the Tiger Leaping Gorge Upper Trail. The local beers were super delicious and the viewing platform/bar/cafe is so scenic.

Amazing location overlooking the tiger leaping gorge. Location is very peaceful. Rooms are simple but comfortable. Restaurant attached offers a good range of options. Wish I had stayed longer

It was really good in terms of cost-effectiveness. I had almost zero experience or knowledge about hiking, but the hostel helped me SO much throughout the whole trip. First, after booking a bus to Tiger Leaping Gorge, I highly recommend asking the hostel to arrange another transfer for you from the Hutiaoxia Scenic Area up to the hostel. The road is really difficult, and an average DiDi driver probably won’t be able to make it. Second, I recommend staying at the hostel for one afternoon and starting your hike the following morning. On the morning you start hiking, ask the staff to book you a bus ticket to either Shangri-La or Lijiang, depending on where you’re going next. The ticket is 50 RMB per person, and the pickup point is at Tina’s Guest House. Also, ask the staff to transfer your luggage to Tina’s Guest House for you, because that will be the endpoint of your hike. The luggage transfer costs 20 RMB per person. This was honestly SO convenient. Third, the hostel has its own restaurant with a pretty wide variety of food. A meal costs around 40 RMB on average, and the food is honestly not bad at all. But the best part is the restaurant view — absolutely top-notch. It’s totally worth staying at the hostel for an afternoon just to relax, eat, and enjoy the scenery. Fourth, if you’re mainly hiking for the scenery and a great experience rather than for the challenge, I strongly recommend turning back after Longdong Waterfall and taking a taxi from Halfway Guest House to Tina’s Guest House. After the waterfall, there’s honestly not much impressive scenery, while the trail gets significantly harder. My knees were absolutely DESTROYED after that long downhill section, and personally, I don’t think it was worth continuing if your main goal is simply to enjoy the views and have a good hiking experience. If you follow my advice, the hike will feel more like a relaxed scenic walk that almost anyone can handle.If you don’t, though… it can feel pretty close to hell, especially if you’re a complete beginner like me.

This place was amazing. They upgraded us to a double room with a private bathroom. The food here is well priced and the beers were cheap. Saw a double rainbow too!

Amazing place to stay in Tiger Leaping Gorge. Room was spacios with a fantastic view of the mountains. Bathroom was clean, and fantastic water pressure. So nice to relax on the deck looking at the views.

Nice guest-house on the trail. Beautifull view from the guest house. The runners are helfull and will provide you with everything you need

Cleaning a little to review, but otherwise apart from that the setting being sublime and the affordable prices I recommend
