- the owner very helpful and friendly and can speak english
- location very near to old town. only one minute to the centre of old town
- nice hostel with beautiful decorations
- owner will arrange to buy the tickets to Balagezong
- if you stay here like you stay with history because this hotel converted from old traditional house
- the owner and wife very kind and welcoming us with open arms

The room was so nice and clean. The owner also nice and kindness. Location just 2-3 minutes walk to the old town shopping street.

Maybe this place used to be good in the past but our experience was horrible. The korean sisters in charge were very rude, didn't want to cook any food despite having a menu, and ruined many clothes of a friend in the group by washing them with a detergent that is only used for specific clothes. You can hear people from any corner of the hostel so forget about having a decent sleep. Avoid at all costs.

Highly recommend this hostel/homestay with local family, owner are very helpful and speak very good English…. Good place to meet people.. very central 3min walking from the main plaza in the old town, and taxi drop you exactly at the location, Your stay here will not be disappointed trusted me.. 😍

Wonderful stay in Shangri-La thanks to the hospit of Tavern Hostel. Very clean, comfortable bed (electric blanket too as pretty chilly at night). Nice hot communal showers and very good food cooked by the hosts. Super helpful staff too. Highly recommended for a stay in shangri la just wish I could have stayed longer

The owner is so friendly and i love stay here. She also helped us to rent a e-bike. Probably will come back again and stay here.

Hosting
They seem to speak English and Korean as well as chinese. Host is very knowledgeable and is happy to chat about shangri la and his life.
Room
Luggage lockers plus space under the beds. There are no curtains around the bunk beds but you can see on the website so this isn't a criticism just feedback that they would be good for privacy, blocking light and slightly sound proofing. Theres also no curtain on the window so room gets quite bright in the morning. Not much soundproofing as I can hear people from other rooms and the common area but other guests were generally polite so it wasn't too loud
Amenities
Lots of amenities but mostly at additional charge. Reasonable prices but there are supermarkets nearby if you want to further save. I think it was around 15 yuan and 35 minutes to wash clothes but I think they then need to air dry so keep that in mind
Location
Very close to the ancient town and guishan park, and about a 15 yuan Didi away from the airport
