The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore

i booked the room to celebrate my 21st birthday and invited some friends over for the day, i booked the grand deluxe room and everything from their little complimentary surprise of a small cake and some balloons in the room to their impeccable room service, im rly so pleased w the entire experience☺️♥️ highly highly recommend!

The best about Capitol Kempinski is its convenient location - right opposite City Hall MRT and there's a sheltered path between MRT and hotel via the mall so that you don't get wet even on rainy days! The location is also so central that you can walk to many sightseeing spots from Merlion to Clarke Quay to Haji Lane. Staff were friendly - we especially appreciated Om the porter, who was very warm and helpful throughout our stay. Wonderful view from our room overlooking the St Andrew's Cathedral. Elegant and classy interior design. The Salvatore Ferragamo amenities smelt so good too! However, there were still a number of defects with this five-star luxury hotel: Both rooms we tried were very humid - our first room even had a water dripping sound every 4-5 seconds, so we could not sleep and had to request for a change of room the next morning, which the hotel arranged speedily. Our second room had no dripping sound but was equally humid - towels and swimming suits were still damp after one night. Thankfully, there was a fan in our Heritage Room, which helped dry things up a bit. Maintenance and facilities - toilet flushing was not great and shower water was not hot enough for our second room on 3/F. The TV there had no sound at first but got fixed eventually. There was no one watching the swimming pool when we visited, which could be prone to accidents even though it's only 1.2 m high. House-keeping - upon our arrival we found an open bottle of sparkling water in the fridge probably left by the previous guest, and two little tubes of conditioner (but no lotion - maybe we don't need it in a humid room, haha). This was quite unacceptable for a 5-star hotel. The higher parts of the rooms were dusty. We understand that the interior design makes it difficult to clean on a daily basis, but thorough deep-cleaning should still be carried out once in a while? Expectation management and food - we expected some sort of welcoming fruits and snacks as we filled out a survey from the hotel two days before our stay, asking about all our preferences. Disappointingly, none of our preferences got addressed during our stay. Buffet breakfast was quite tasty but not among the greatest varieties we had tried in other five-star hotels. I had the same experience with the other two hotels I have stayed in Singapore, so maybe this is still considered good enough for the city. I can imagine how beautiful this hotel was when it opened five years ago. But without proper maintenance and persistent house keeping work, its charm has diminished. Certainly a waste for a beautiful heritage cluster like this one. Still a fairly OK-nice stay overall.

Reviewing their breakfast! Please try to book breakfast if you are staying here. It will be at 15 Stamford. Their variety is impressive and they have pretty signages too. And they also offer sparkling wine! And eggs benedict is included under their egg station. How cool are these! Must try include their smoked salmon eggs benedict, nasi lemak, bread station with different muffin daily, salad bar and of coz sparkling wine if you are an adult. Their tea comes in pretty teapots too!

Booked the family room which has a king room with connecting twin. Twin room is nicer in my opinion as it has a small sofa with table vs king room has a longer hallway but no use out of it. Rooms are nice and spacious with a pretty large bathroom. Only thing is the king room automatic bidet was out of battery for mine, surprised to see weighing machine in room but also out of battery so I guess room attendants should make a habit of checking all the electronic items to make sure they are in working condition. Also bacha coffee was given in the twin room but not in the king room not sure why. Love the bathroom amenities by ferragamo and they are actually made in Italy not China like many of the hotels uses even if they are branded. One thing I didn’t like is the room windows overlooks dining places at capitol so it was awkward to open the shades as diners will be able to see you if you stand at the window, so I close the shades throughout the stay. Hotel service was great from the moment at check in and even the valet outside always greets you Breakfast has a good selection but taste wise not impressed by them. Food doesn’t seem to be strong in this hotel as my room booking had free lounge access and the food served were also so so. Overall really like the heritage hotel, good to experience, not sure will be repeat guest

A lot of redundant furnitures, not very well-maintained. Window was dirty, toilet floor was yellowish. Toilet amenities were good however. Breakfast was decent. Feels like a overrated and overpriced hotel. Lobby was small and uncomfortable too.

Excellent hotel. The room is clean, spacious, etc. Breakfast spread is fantastic! We love it, will stay again.

great as always. repeated stay here, it’s my favourite for anniversaries and birthday celebrations ❤️❤️ had a super good dinner at 15 Stamford by Alvin Leung too

Awesome staycation. Service was good, room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was excellent too!
