Maison Ortigia

Just returned from a 3 night stay at this B&B in the wonderful Ortigia. This place delivers exactly what it promises. Our room (#2 on the first floor) was spacious with lovely high ceilings. It is simply furnished but comfortable with a very soft bed, sofa, coffee table and dressing table. Bathroom has everything you need and is in good order - plenty of hot water even if you need to let it run a minute. There is a fridge where you can store water, drinks etc. The breakfast salon is comprised of tables for two. Bread, jam, honey, croissants, cake, fruit tart, cereal, yoghurt, cold meats, cheese are all on the menu. Coffee is plentiful (and powerful) from typical hotel type machines. Staff were always charming (reception and breakfast) and the whole place was kept spotlessly clean. So is this place luxurious? - no, it is functional. Is this place brimming with historical features? - no, it is what I'm guessing to be a post war building with a very understated entrance that is essentially the common area of an apar**ent block. Does it offer gourmet breakfast? - no it offers simple fare to get you set up before you head out in to an environment where access to a a myriad of food and drink options is ubiquitous. What this accommodation does is give you a safe, clean and spacious environment in which to sleep and rest up before you take in everything Ortigia and Syracuse has to offer. It puts you at the heart of a stunning location at a very reasonable budget. It is not trying to be the destination, it is offering you access to the destination. I would not hesitate to stay here again - bravo!

Right in the heart of the old town and an excellent place to explore. Quite a walk from the bus terminal but worth it, definitely not worth renting a car here I've never seen such a busy place with very limited parking. We stayed on the first floor, try and avoid this, the wooden shutters bang like mad with the slightest wind and there is plenty of that. The room was basic but clean with nice curtains and small shower room. Breakfast was excellent and the girl who did the weekday breakfasts worked like the clappers, nothing was too much trouble.

The hospitality was excellent, even before arrival they made sure to explain and guide where to park the car. The reception staff came down to us and immediately directed us to the guest house. The room is wonderful and spacious, a luxurious and large bathroom, everything is ventilated with electric blinds and in general it is clean and meets the requirements above and beyond. And of course we are a few meters from the center. warmly recommended

First of all, hole terrible story was stated when when we check in, nobody told us about building its under construction. At the first room the balcony can’t be used/ under construction and we ask for a new room with normal balcony. After we switch the new room, that one was the worst. We ask again for a new room- like in description in site and nothing available. In our room was everything broken… floor -swollen package, walls with mold, AC didn't work, the room was smaller, the balcony its no like in photos, the hairdryer didn't work …. and I can continue more😥. I have also i video and can share with with. I am very disappointed about how you treat the guests😣.

We had a wonderful stay in Maison Ortigia. The room was very clean and well decorated! It was very cute with a small balcony. The bed was very comfortable, I had a very nice sleep. The location was great, the center of Ortigia, it was easy to access many sights and the room was very quiet. It was very easy to check-in and out. The breakfast was very nice. Fresh bakery, yogurt, eggs, sweets etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend to stay at this hotel when you visit Ortigia, Siracusa!

This b&b is a FRAUD! They lie about everything. I booked a deluxe room with a balcony and a landmark view, but the building is under renovation and the balcony is closed, there are ongoing works, noise, dust, rubbish on the balcony and I could not use it. They did not inform me and I found out upon arrival... it was too late to look for another hotel because everything is expensive last minute. I agreed to move to another room the next day, but the other room is terrible. It is not renovated, there is constant humming noise from the inner yard, and I cannot sleep, it is dark, it is definitely not a deluxe room with a balcony. It is located near the breakfast room and they start making noise from 7:00, it’s impossible to sleep after 07:00. The property promised to do a partial refund for this and they lied again: after 3 days of negotiations, they said I'll get no refund. The breakfast is not good at all. There are no windows in the breakfast room, the breakfast is poor, it's all pastry and no vegetables, the cheese and ham are the cheapest, the apples are rotten and it's actually the one place in Italy with bad coffee. And they do have problems with water in the shower! At 7 am it was hot, but at 10:00 it was weak and hardly warm. I couldn’t rinse my hair properly… They did not even provide a welcome bottle of water, or glasses/mugs, and of course there is no kettle. It’s the cheapest place ever. I regret choosing this accomodation, it ruined my vacation. A trip like this is a once in a lifetime experience and my experience is the stress related to being scammed and not getting the nice room I paid for. This is the memory of Siracuse I'll have for the rest of my life

I stayed for 8 nights here during my Convention held at the Teatro Massimo recently. It gave me the supreme convenience because it is just beside the theater and I can go to my room whenever i want to in just a minute! I love its cozy ambiance, clean rooms daily and its high speed internet which gave me so much comfort in making my presentations and reports during our convention. I had heavy breakfast daily with their kind and helpful staff and i gained 3 kgs in my stay there actually. I love the bed that when you get on it you will sleep soundly even without the soft and puffy pillows. i would definitely recommend Maison Ortigia to everyone especially to all the tourist guides of the world! I am back in the Philippines now and kinda miss my second home in Ortigia. Thank you very much Bianca for the BnB accommodations and More Power to your Business! Its me ...
