UPDATE - Premier Inn are paying the charges. This *was* a good place to stop for a few nights whilst going to Legoland...until the parking letters dropped through the letterbox a week later. Now, given that we entered our reg into the kiosk on check-in (I filmed myself doing this as I know exactly what these parking companies are like), the receptionist also wrote down that reg, *and* we only ever parked in the bays with a purple dot, can anyone explain what we did wrong to receive these charges? Of course not, because we did nothing wrong. Surely Premier Inn, as part of their agreement with the car park owners, will have done the correct due diligence and made sure they had the authority to cancel these charges, right? HA! Wrong. They have, and I quote from their receptionst: "absolutely no authority over the car park". Why, then, are you advertising free parking, if you have absolutely no means to ensure that it is in fact free? "Well, we had a few such complaints over the Summer but nothing since then." What, October and November are in Summer now? "Well, usually people just contact the parking company and they get sorted." Sorted as in cancelled or sorted as in the person caves in and pays up? "Uhhhhhhhhhh...*shrug*" Why are guests not being warned about this? "Uhhhhhhhhhh...*shrug*". I've asked both the hotel and head office why they're still advertising free parking, only to be met with silence from both, and they're still advertising it. Now, I'm still waiting to hear back from the parking company, and should they fail to cancel (which I fully expect, them being a parking company) then Premier Inn will be paying the charges, you know, because our contract with Premier Inn included free parking. Regardless of what they say though, this is an open invitation for anyone in the same boat - especially if you've paid up - to contact me with the view to initiating action against Premier Inn.
