I have just returned from Southern Italy. Spent 4 nights at the Palazzo Guardati hotel and it was delightful. The hotel was spotless, the staff (a shout out to Daniele) were great. I was with a small group which had been changed from a large group hotel outside of Sorrento to the hotel. The location was excellent, My room, 113 on 1st floor was right over the alley and we were there on a Friday and Saturday night - No noise even when I opened the doors to the street. We could walk everywhere which was great for exploring Sorrento. Yes, it's fine to have a room with a view if all you want to do is sit and look at the view but for sightseeing and exploring Sorrento, this hotel could not be better , Great little restaurants close by, even in the alley. The small niggly complaints from other reviews surprised me. The breakfast room is small, and yes they did ask us to all arrive at a particular time, but made sure it fitted in with our activities and the breakfast was great. Italians do not eat large "American Breakfasts" ("when in Rome") and having guided in Italy for years when hotels only supplied Italian breakfasts, it was great to now see most hotels cater to American and other Western countries. Bacon, sausage, eggs, yoghurt, fruit etc. I really do not understand what else people want. I would go back to Palazzo Guardati again and would recommend it to anyone who wanted to stay in the heart of Sorrento in a small, beautiful boutique hotel.
