The Still Beach House

We have been here the last week and were blown away by the view when we arrived! It’s a fantastic place to stay and go explore. We used it as a base to visit other places and it was great. Pros: THE VIEW! The beach is right downstairs, you can walk around the town and to the neighbouring beaches if you are feeling up to it, water taxis if you aren’t. The bed is comfortable, the aircon works, although we had a couple of nights where it wasn’t working as well and it kept making a loud noise to wake us up. Great fridge freezer in the room, had a couple of welcome beers and sodas in which was nice. They provide beach towels, pretty foliage in the room and crockery and cutlery, plus kettle and microwave. Cons: It’s not a hotel, don’t expect housekeeping everyday, although we didn’t need it and when they did come in they did a good job. The beach isn’t the cleanest, snorkelling to the right was good, but there was a lot of boat traffic to look out for. There’s only one simple lock on the front door, maybe not the best security as you can’t dead bolt it from the inside, but the balcony door somehow locked us out on the balcony one night, so maybe it was a good thing we couldn’t stop staff from unlocking our front door to rescue us! The seashells restaurant below is ok, the creole dishes were good, drinks are way above what 3beez on the beach charges though. Also I ordered the feta salad for $12 US dollars, it was less than a handful of lettuce, maybe half a tomato, a couple of slices of cucumber, some olives and a tiny sprinkle of feta that tasted more like blue cheese. I had a better salad as an accompaniment to a meal at a different restaurant. Didn’t complain as didn’t want it to be awkward with us staying above.

Nothing to complain about really lovey people (Rachel and Michelle) in attendance, apartment was just what we needed. A short walk to Massey Mini and town centre, 30mtrs to the beach. What a view we could have spent a lot more for all inclusive with plush surroundings and a sun-bed but chose to visit Sugar bay and anse Chastane by water for lunch at resort restaurant and good snorkelling. Ask at bar below for Peter really nice helpful guy. I did not compare prices with other excursions but was happy with what he provided. Look up Paw Paw for land taxi services nice guy and very tidy taxi. A fabulous stay after an equally fabulous stay in Rodney Bay the week before. Top tips Mud bath and Sulphur spring early, take a beer at the top of Tet Paul Trail, swim as much as you can and smile/say hello to everyone you pass just makes you feel good.

We had a fantastic stay at Still Beach. I would highly recommend a stay at this wonderful guest house! The room was wonderful with good facilities and the bed was extremely comfortable and stylish, in the plantation style. Top quality and very, very clean! Our balcony was amazing! It was fantastic to sit on the balcony watching tall traditional sailing ships come into the bay and watch all the small local boats zip around. The balcony has a wonderful view of the Grand Piton that cannot be beaten! I don’t think there is a better room on the island! It is a one minute walk to the beautiful beach below, where you can swim with views of the palm trees and rainforest mountains. Under the rooms is a super restaurant where we fell in love with the local St Lucian fishcakes! We visited exotic tropical gardens, soaked in mineral pools and went on a boat trip to Sugar Beach which is totally stunning. Soufriere town is very interesting town and very traditional, in the old style. A gem. Melissa was totally helpful before and during the visit, helping us getting a taxi from the north, and with any other of our queries. The housekeepers were fantastic too. The owners of the property were particularly hospitable to us and showed us the real St Lucia. We would recommend staying at Still Beach to anyone who wants a true Saint Lucian experience. I dont know where to start. I loved everything about this place. The room was updated and nice, the ocean view balcony was breathtaking, the cleaning staff were around all day and so helpful, and the convinience of having a restaurant downstairs was perfect. Its on the beach so its easy to make multiple trips a day to the water. I had room #2 which doesnt include a kitchen but it has a king size bed, fridge microwave and kettle, dishes and utensils. They leave you a welcome treat with fruit and water in the fridge. Also a bottle of rum with 2 kinds of pop. There is wifi and it works. The tv apparently has cable channels although i couldnt figure out how to get them but it has google tv so i was able to sign into Netflix and youtube etc. Ps. Room #1 and #2 have the view from my pictures. Also the room next to #2 but im just unsure what room number it had. The other rooms are partial view. One con: this doesnt have anything to do with the hotel, but something to think about. The bars nearby and in town constantly play loud music, and im talking all hours of the day and night (even around 6am). I heard constant bass in the room, mostly it was quiet and tolerable but as soon as you go on the balcony its as if its right next to you. If it wasnt the bar down the beach it was the bar on the main road, or it was the restaurant below but the owner did confront the restaurant and they were quiet after that. I really dont think there would be an area in soufriere that you cant hear this music though so might aswell enjoy this amazing hotel!
