Thonga Beach Lodge

Thonga beach lodge is a piece of paradise. The staff are so incredibly friendly and accommodating to all our needs. The rooms feel luxurious and so comfortable. The lodge is beautiful and the beach is magnificent… our beach bike rides, Long Beach walks, swims, snorkels and sundowners on the dunes were all unforgettable moments. We had the most incredible holiday and can’t wait to book to come back!! I can not recommend this lodge enough!

The beach lodge is beautiful and the views and the location is amazing. The beach is breath taking . There are many activities ,subject to weather ! The lodge is very comfortable and the bar and lounge areas are a delight to read ,drink and chill out. We loved the pool area with many comfortable chairs beds etc and the decking on the beach for sunbathing. Surprised they didn’t serve a glass of fizz only by the bottle…. But didn’t cause us a problem! Just drunk the bottle!. We had a lovely relaxing time and very pleased we visited the area. Only slight ****** was the cost felt it was a little over the top .

Whilst it’s a long trip down a bumpy sandy track it’s worth it when you get there . Set next to one of the best beaches I have ever visited, it’s a completely isolated beach side idyll with a very chilled atmosphere. Rooms are excellent, the food delicious, and you have to admire the ethos behind the Lodge .

We had the most incredible time at this little piece of paradise! I was blown away by the untouched, breathtaking beauty of the area. Thonga is a haven of serenity and luxury that captivates you from the moment you arrive. The staff, food, suites and attention to detail were fantastic. They offer so many excursions and experiences. We were so blessed to experience the fascinating turtle hatchlings making their way to the ocean which is a memory that I will cherish forever. Thonga is a true hidden gem and I will definitely return.

Thonga Beach Lodge is a treat for the senses. Incredible location, food and the lodge, impeccable. The turtle hatching was a bucket list experience for us. Thank you to the attentive Thonga team, for looking after our every need. We hope to see a turtle laying on our next visit.

Thonga Beach Lodge is beautiful; a small group of individual rooms right next to the beach. It's environmentally conscious and very close to the UNESCO park and turtle nests. The food, drink and customer service is excellent. We spent 4 very special days there just enjoying the surroundings, walking the incredible beach and exploring the various activities, of which seeing turtles was a highlight.

Have just returned from a once in a lifetime holiday at Thonga Beach after a few friends had visited and recommended it. The arrival and setting is spectacular we loved the modern look and feel, specially the wheeled out cool ice cream cart after lunch.The staff are all from the local community and are delightful. We are foodies and thoroughly enjoyed the light and colourful choices perfect for a beach destination, well done are planning our next visit.

Having traveled extensively and stayed in various accommodations, the quality of the rooms at your lodge did not meet our expectations, especially considering our previous stays in South Africa's 4 to 5-star establishments. The cost incurred far exceeded the level of comfort and quality we anticipated. The outdated decor, terrible smell , worn-out bathroom, exceptionally dirty windows in the toilet, old grey bedding, and old grey towels with frayed edges were disheartening. The bedding felt uncomfortably hard, and the towels did not convey a sense of freshness. The overall ambiance of the room was far from relaxing, and the balcony, which was dull and dark with basic plastic chairs and insufficient space, did not provide a conducive environment for unwinding. This starkly contrasted with the vibrant and new images displayed on your website, leading to a sense of disillusionment upon our arrival. While the staff deserves commendation for being delightful and helpful throughout our stay, the accommodation fell short of our expectations, significantly impacting our overall experience. We believe that a more accurate representation of the rooms on your website would have allowed us to make an informed decision about our stay. Regarding the meals, we understand the challenges of remote locations affecting food delivery. However, the quality of the meals did not meet our expectations, especially when compared to our positive experience at Rhino Ridge. Despite our efforts to coordinate dates to experience Thonga Beach, as reflected in our correspondence with Kerin, the subpar accommodation overshadowed our intentions, leaving us with an overall unhappy experience. i cant upload photos as yet due to a pc h=issue but will do indue course.

My fiancée and I recently had the great pleasure at staying at the Thonga beach resort. The lodge is a hidden gem of SA and definitely worth the journey. The hotel and its accommodation is of a high standard and the team are very friendly and hospitable. Whilst relaxing was our key priority the lodge offers a great number of activities. We were very fortunate to see hippos at Lake Sibaya and the snorkelling provided great under water viewing. The food was prepared freshly every day and the bar has an extensive wine list. Big thank you to Megan, Guguletho, Scuba hut, Godfrey and the wider team for making our stay so special!
