"This ryokan is the furthest from Main Street. But I love the hospitality from the owner and the authenticity of this place. There is a private onsen available in the ryokan, just need to pre register. They provide access to shibu onsen as well. Recommended to book your dinner with them. Restaurants in shibu onsen either close very early or not open regularly. We missed our dinner, but the owner is kind enough to prepare a simple oyakudon for us. Though this place is at the beginning of forest trail to snow monkey park. But it is close during winter. Just take note."

"Since it was cheaper than other ryokans in the area, I didn’t expect much. But to my surprise, it offered full service—just like the more expensive ryokans I’ve stayed at before! They even provided a pickup service from the train station, which I forgot to book. Luckily, a Western couple sitting next to me on the train had reserved it. When I saw the “Hotel Housei” sign on the van outside the station, I hopped in! The hotel is a bit far from the station and involves walking up and down hills, so carrying luggage all the way would have been quite tough. I was really fortunate to catch that ride! Cherry blossoms were in full bloom along the river, just a few steps from the hotel—such a beautiful sight. The room wasn’t large, but it had enough space and was very comfortable. The elderly gentleman at the front desk seemed to speak multiple languages—he even knew some Thai! He was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The onsen was wonderful. The indoor bath was a bit too hot for me, but the outdoor bath was cooler and more relaxing. Breakfast was a buffet, which was decent. In conclusion, this place was absolutely worth it. Next time, if I go skiing in Shiga Kogen or bring someone to see the snow monkeys, I’ll definitely remember to book the pick-up and drop-off service in advance!"

"Located just within 3min from Yudanaka station, Raki Onsenryokan is run by a Chinese family. As a quiet town on its own, no one was tending to the reception when I arrived, after ringing the bell, a lady came down to help with the check in - very straightforward. I believe the family stays in the same building as they said if we ever needed anything, we could just ring the bell at the reception. Obviously I had booked a room too big for a solo traveller as this was the only room left as ”non-smoking”. Toilet and sink are at two different parts of the room which was a little inconvenient. Ryokan offers free drive (15min) TO snow monkey park, but not return, so please cater at least 35min to walk from park exit to the bus stop. Ryokan also provided a hearty breakfast, overall for the price paid it was a decent stay!"

"The hosts — an elderly couple — were incredibly warm and welcoming. From the moment we arrived, they treated us like family, always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. The property is a bit dated, but that only adds to its charm. It has a cozy, homey feel that you rarely find in modern accommodations. If you're looking for a place with soul and genuine hospitality, this is it. Would definitely come back!"

"I had a large tatami room with side sitting area and sink as well as an ante-room. I had three delicious Japanese meals at the ryokan that were served with polite elegance. The two in-house onsen baths were a joy to use after a day of skiing. The staff was knowledgeable about how to get around by the buses and suggested the best restaurants for days that I did not eat at the ryokan. Senshinkan Matsuya was situated in the center of.Shibu Onsen town next to three of the public onsen. I could not ask for a better stay!"

"Great location close to all the small public baths. A bit far from the main station but still walkable or reachable by bus. The room is clean and cozy with very old Ryokan vibes. The hotel itself has a private bath and public bath with shower. Not very clean but ok. I guess depends on what time you use it. The breakfast is nice and simple, really enjoyed it. You can walk to the monkey park from here."

"The host speaks good English and the communication is smooth. The room is big and heated, clean and hygienic. The private onsen is clean and opposite is Hatsu-no-Yu. It is a good experience to go out to the public onsen at night. It is snowing and you will not feel cold in yukata. The host sent us to the station in the morning. Thank you very much. We spent a short but warm night in Yudanaka. I will recommend other friends to come here! The host was great and easy to communicate with, speaking excellent English. The room was big, clean, and warm. The private onsen was nice and clean, and Hatsu-no-Yu was just across the street. We loved soaking in the public onsen at night while it was snowing.feel super warm only wearing the yukata. In the early morning, the host kindly drove us to the station. It was a short but lovely stay in Yudanaka. Highly recommend it to friends!"

I think the boss just opened the restaurant and made an accommodation by the way. The food was so delicious. The two of us had nothing left to eat. There was a bath in it, so I could soak almost all day, and the room was big and perfect.

Unexpected Treasure Family Hotel . Because I arrived at the hotel early, there was no one at the front desk, and there was an old grandfather who came out to receive the bell at the front desk. Because the time was early and I couldn't check in, I stored my luggage. The owner's grandmother drove me to the Snow Monkey Park. It's not very far from the snow monkey to the store on the return trip. If you don't want to go, you can take the bus down the mountain. The day of check-in was New Year's Eve, and the stores in the hot spring town were almost resting. There are two supermarkets that bought fruit and beer to prepare to nest in the hotel. When you arrive at the hotel, you need to carry your luggage into the room. Because the elderly's legs and feet are not very convenient. The Japanese dinner of the day was very rich. Too much to eat. I ordered two bottles of wine for more than 100 yuan. Tangtianzhong is very cost-effective. Have the opportunity to come again.

The host auntie and uncle were very friendly and taken good care of our needs:) They speak excellent English and explained everything to us about using the public baths here in the onsen town. We pick the option with breakfast and dinner, although seems we have been ripped off by Trip.com, and it costs way less if we had ordered from the ryokan directly:(….a lot of people do the option without the meals as there are a good selection of rrstaurants jn the onsen town, we we hadn't known about.

Breakfast was delicious; in my experience, it's truly rare to encounter such a wonderful breakfast. I would have loved to try dinner as well, but unfortunately, I couldn't make a reservation because I was traveling alone. I've stayed at larger, more expensive hot spring inns before, but I really love the atmosphere here. Everything is simple and friendly, and it felt as if time had stopped in the Showa era. I think places like this are also very rare. Regarding the hot springs, both the indoor and outdoor baths are quite hot, but you can adjust the temperature with tap water. One thing that bothered me was that the teapot wasn't very clean. I came to the Hokuriku region this time because I wanted to find a ”snow country.” I didn't find a snow country itself, but instead I found this place. I will definitely come back again.

The hotel is at the intersection of the first cable car and the second cable car in the new horizontal hand ski resort, about 1800 meters above sea level. So the view is wide and the scenery is very good. The hotel can also rent ski gear and ask ski instructors, but make an appointment in advance. There are full of young people everywhere. Of course there are people from all over the world who come to enjoy the powder snow here. The boss drove his snow motorcycle to pick us up and it was very windy. I hope to provide a paid motorcycle sightseeing project.

Shiga no yu is all about attentive, good hearted, genuine good service. We loved the 70s vibe of the place. It is charming 70s style all the way. The meals provided were wonderful! Great portions, taste and variety! Each meal was different! The onsen was perfect at the end of each muscle weary day from skiing. Dont expect top of the range ski rentals so if that’s important to you, bring your own. But if not, just enjoy the intimate style of the place and the many ski hills to explore starting with the chair lift right outside the hotel’s door!

Stayed at this homestay for a few days during the Spring Festival and it feels really great. The proprietress is very very friendly. The rice is also delicious. The hot spring in the hotel is also great and very convenient. The location here is about an hour’s drive from the ski resort, and there is a shuttle bus every day, which is quite convenient. The room is clean, warm and comfortable. Although it is a public restroom, I did not feel any inconvenience. My favorite is to go back to the hot springs for bathing after skiing every day.

Although the room does not have a separate shower, the public bath and bathing part is open 24 hours a day and can be washed at any time. The hotel's all-inclusive breakfast and dinner are also very attentive, very Japanese style, and there is a paper menu for dinner every day. There is a barbecue opposite the hotel. There is a supermarket next to the barbecue. 20 meters is the shuttle bus and the bus station to Nagano in Tokyo. Less than 100 meters walk is the Yizhixuan family ski resort. The location is really nothing to say, super convenient

They do not have air conditioning or a heater in the room. This is the first time I’ve encountered this in Nagano or in accommodation around a ski area (I ski every week). The floor heating is insufficient and does not warm the room at all. It was freezing at night. On top of that, the mattress is uncomfortably hard and the blanket is very heavy. Even after a long day of skiing, I barely managed to sleep. And the next morning, my whole body was sore. Aside from the sleep issues, everything else was acceptable.

Everything is fine, the price is proportional to the accommodation, remember to drive 4 cars to the accommodation first. I am a normal car, only parking the large parking lot above. Going up delicious.
