"I couldn't have been happier with my stay. I've never been to Guanxi province before, but it surpassed all my expectations. The village itself is beautiful, and around 7km from Yangshuo, so it's not as busy as central locations but still plenty to see around the Yulong river. But most of all, the family and all the staff at this hotel were truly exceptional, and made me feel so welcome. The rooms are comfortable, extremely clean, and they service your rooms every day which means you always have a freshly made bed and water bottles. Breakfast was included and was wonderful and plentiful....porridge, watermelon, yams, boiled eggs served with red tea, and you could also order coffee. You can also get a big bowl of noodles, but after they realised as a foreigner, I don't really like to eat this kind of thing for breakfast, they simply adjusted to my tastes and gave more eggs and sweet potatoes the next day without me even needing to ask- fantastic service! I really enjoyed the company of the boss man, and I assume his wife. After watching snooker together the first evening, they invited me to eat dinner together the next night, along with the kitchen cook. It felt like a family meal, and I felt very welcome indeed. By the way, I walked between villages in my afternoons, which was great exercise and there's plenty of good routes for bicycling. 🚲 I am already looking forward to coming back 🏞"

"The best hotel experience in China for me . The view from the room is incredible . Make sure to choose a room with view if it’s available. It’s well worth it . The location of the hotel is great. I didn’t want to in the busy west street area but close enough to reach there when I needed . It’s a short 6-7 min bike ride. It’s easy to use the e-bikes and the hotel has offers them at a fair rate. You should definetly go out to explore with them. Also the team is friendly , smiley. Especially the lady who did my check in and who was there during the day time was very helpful . Had some good suggestions , and always response def on WeChat . There is also laundry service available . Having a drier would have been helpful but it was ok ."

"My stay at Man Shi Guang during the Chinese New Year was an absolute delight! A five-star review is a must! 🌟 The moment I entered the lobby, I was warmed by the festive New Year decorations. The receptionist's service was impeccable—warm, attentive, and welcoming. A special shout-out to the Mountain View King Room: impeccably clean, spotless. I absolutely loved the room layout, especially the floor-to-ceiling windows. Waking up in the morning and asking the smart speaker to open the curtains was breathtaking—a panoramic view of rolling green hills against a clear blue sky. This is true ”Man Shi Guang”—I'll definitely come back!"

"We stayed here for 2 days. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Everything was clean, and the furniture and appliances felt new. The most important thing was the AMAZING view of the mountains and the river — it was truly unforgettable to wake up to such a view from the window. The hotel staff were polite and very helpful"

"I chose to stay at Yangshuo Mountain Retreat largely because of the owner, Little Fish. What stood out to me before booking was how she takes the time to personally respond to every single review. That level of care and pride in the property really came through—and it is fully reflected in the guest experience. I stayed in Room 207, which offered a perfect vantage point of the Yulong River. I spent hours on the balcony simply watching bamboo rafts drift past against the dramatic karst mountains—it was incredibly peaceful and almost meditative. The retreat itself feels authentic and deeply rooted in the local community. It is entirely run by people from nearby villages, with over 90% of the team being women. Much of the food is sourced directly from the families of the staff who have farms, which makes the entire experience feel personal and sustainable. What impressed me further was hearing from local Didi drivers, who also spoke very highly of the resort. They shared that many of the staff have been there for years, a testament to how well the owner treats her team. It’s clear that Little Fish sees them as family—taking them on holidays and ensuring they are well looked after. That kind of culture is rare and truly shows in the warmth of the service. With only 34 rooms, the property feels wonderfully intimate and quiet—ideal if you’re looking to disconnect. The setting is nothing short of spectacular, with uninterrupted views of one of the most beautiful stretches of the Yulong River. The food also deserves special mention. Both the Chinese and Western options were excellent, and we ended up having all our meals at the hotel. Portions were generous, and when we couldn’t finish the famous Bamboo Chicken, the staff kindly offered to keep it for our next meal—a thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflects their hospitality. Overall, this is far more than just a place to stay. It’s an experience built on genuine care, community, and natural beauty. I would return without hesitation"

"The room was very nice in itself; however, we had one learning curve: if it rains, since we had the top floor, it would be difficult to sleep because rainfall is quite intense and the roof is windows:) This aside, the views were impeccable and the room was very nice and spacious. Also hotel staff helped us arrange activities at an adequate and non-aggressive price, which were among the highlights of our 3 weeks trip across China."

"This hotel deserves a glowing review; it's the most comfortable I've ever stayed in. The room's facilities and amenities exceed a four-star standard. It's spotlessly clean, the bedding is incredibly soft, and it's wonderfully quiet. Pulling back the curtains reveals stunning views, and its location within the Ten-Mile Gallery scenic area makes getting around incredibly convenient. You can rent a scooter and easily explore all the beautiful sights. There's a Half-Mountain Coffee shop nearby, a lotus pond, and the Yulong River pier is also very accessible. I'll definitely be staying here again next time. Highly recommended!"

"The room was spacious and very clean. The owner was incredibly nice and gave us a free room upgrade. Our room even had a balcony, which was super convenient for drying clothes. It's really close to Yangshuo West Street, just a short walk away. Downstairs, there's a rice noodle shop that's cheap and offers generous portions, plus a luosifen hotpot place that's absolutely delicious. The hotel is also very close to the Yulong River scenic area, making it easy to get around and explore."
