"It is a 10-minute walk to get there. You will need to use the stairs if you are coming from Atami Station. The room is very traditional Japanese. I had some Japanese Sake (Izu Sake) for free. You can get free beer, tea and coffee. The owner was very friendly and made us feel welcome. He helped us wash laundry for free. He also gave us a lift back to Atami Station. I was able to relax in the public bath and have some private time twice. There was a projector that allowed you to watch YouTube and Netflix. I would like to come again."

"Location: It's not far from Atami Station, about a seven to eight-minute walk. You can see the trains from downstairs, and the clanking sound of passing trains is quite clear, which affected my sleep. I'd recommend bringing earplugs. The bus stop right outside Atami Station offers direct routes to the MOA Museum of Art and Hakone, which is very convenient.
Service: The complimentary breakfast on the first floor was decent, nothing special, but enough to fill you up. However, the front desk staff didn't speak English, which made communication a bit challenging.
Cleanliness: No unpleasant odors.
Facilities: Standard Toyoko Inn offerings."

"The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. I barely ran into any staff or other guests during check-in or throughout the hotel, which made it feel very quiet, almost a bit eerie due to the lack of people. I walked to the hotel from the shopping street, and it was a very steep hill. With the rain and my luggage, it was quite a struggle on foot. I'd recommend a taxi if you're not driving. It's very close to the station, so using a ride-sharing app makes getting around super smooth. Apparently, there are bugs in the summer. Personally, I was delighted that there was a ping-pong table. I'd love to stay here again if I get the chance!"

"I stayed at this guesthouse in Atami last December and had a pleasant experience overall. The location is quite convenient, as it’s close to Atami Station. There is a short uphill walk to reach the guesthouse, but it’s still manageable.
Overall, I would rate the guesthouse 8/10. The main thing to note is that, as it’s a guesthouse, the bathroom and toilet are shared. There is also an onsen available on-site, though it requires an additional fee (which is not expensive). The onsen operates on a time schedule since it’s shared between male and female guests.
The host was friendly and welcoming. I didn’t really get the chance to use facilities like the dining area or the rooftop, but the dining area has a balcony with a nice sea view, which looked great.
Another big plus is that the guesthouse is within walking distance of Atami Heiwa-dōri Shopping Street, making it very convenient for food and shopping."

"Service: The front desk offers Chinese-speaking service, and the staff were very patient and friendly.
Facilities: This is an older, established hotel, and the facilities feel even older than my parents, but they are very clean and functional. The hot springs felt just okay, mainly because the environment and facilities are quite dated, and the indoor bathhouse was a bit stuffy. The buffet, surprisingly, was excellent! The hotel is very close to the sea, but the sea view from the room doesn't give you that 'right on the beach' feeling of endless ocean.
The hotel provides a shuttle bus to the station. You need to queue up next to the front desk, and it's essential to go early as there are usually quite a few people waiting.
Environment: The corner view from the buffet restaurant is beautiful; I recommend going for your meal early. Enjoy the scenery of Atami town while eating when it's less crowded. The hotel isn't far from where the fireworks festival is held, and there's a kimono rental shop about a 6-minute walk from the hotel. However, you can also pick up yukata for free downstairs at the hotel itself."

"The room was clean and uncluttered, and the amenities were all the bare minimum. All the meals were delicious, and while the main fish and meat dishes were brought to you by staff, if you wanted more you could pick up food from the buffet corner - a style I've never experienced anywhere else, but I thought was great. I was traveling alone, and the style was comfortable for a solo traveler, allowing me to enjoy leisurely meals in the morning and evening. The cold pumpkin soup at dinner was particularly delicious, and I had seconds. I wondered how they managed to create that flavor... It became a memorable taste of my trip."

"The hotel should get more than 3 stars. The room is big, the smells also nice, although is an old hotel but the preserve it so nice. The public onsen also great. "A deeply moving ocean view". This resort hotel has a sweeping view over Sagami Bay.
"Only 9 minutes from Atami Station, no stairs all the way down the slope, check out there is a shuttle bus up the mountain. Guests staying can choose their preferred yukata style. Breakfast is a buffet form, dinner is more old-fashioned Japanese food package, the taste is quite satisfactory. The hotel has more Japanese guests than foreign guests, who may only have 3 or 4 groups. The rooms are spacious and offer tatami-laying services, the sea view is excellent. The day of the fireworks festival will also open the rooftop for guests to watch, the rooftop is completely unobstructed very clear!"

GGuest UserSanpeiso was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. The ryokan beautifully preserves the atmosphere of traditional Japan while offering excellent comfort and hospitality. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and took great care of every detail throughout our stay.
The room was spacious, spotless, and overlooked a peaceful garden, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. The onsen was exceptional — the hot spring water felt wonderful after a day of sightseeing, and the entire bathing area was quiet and beautifully maintained.
Both dinner and breakfast were served in traditional Japanese style and were outstanding. Every dish was carefully prepared, beautifully presented, and showcased seasonal ingredients. It felt like a true cultural experience rather than simply a meal.
What impressed us most was the authentic character of the ryokan. Unlike many modernized properties, Sanpeiso retains the charm and elegance of a classic Japanese inn. The combination of attentive service, excellent cuisine, serene surroundings, and high-quality hot springs made our stay unforgettable.
If you are looking for an authentic ryokan experience in Atami, I highly recommend Sanpeiso. We would gladly return on our next visit to Japan.

PPumpkinOverall, it could be rated excellent as a local ryokan but may not be ready for international clients. It has won Rakuten bronze award 2023. I am particular about smoking and the non smoking room was full of smoky smell. Also surprised that I have to set up my own tatami bed etc. Staff dependent on google translate but stranded when there's no WiFi. They could have translated common phrases in text. Nice garden.

The entire room was impeccably clean, which I appreciated. The only minor thing was that the showers in the public bath weren't consistent in design or type. It wasn't really a problem, but since everything else was so clean, it just stood out a little. Overall, I'd definitely want to stay here again. Thank you!

There is a Lawson supermarket about 150 meters away from the hotel. I personally feel that the food is not very rich.
You can see the sea from the room, and it only takes 30 minutes to walk along the seaside to Atami Port. From Atami Port, you can take a boat to Hatsushima. The one-way ticket is 2,800 yen. There is a road behind the beach, and across the road is Atami Ginza Street, which has many restaurants.

Like door keys, switches, sockets, and toilets, these look like the standard of a domestic 3-star hotel more than ten years ago. Because it is related to the beach, the room is a damp musty smell as soon as it enters, but there is a purifier in the room. It is not easy to book a room on the night of the fireworks conference, although the price may have doubled 3 times compared to the usual price. The room rate includes 2 large and 1 small, one berth and two meals, and 3 people have made the bed and put toiletries.
Breakfast and dinner are buffets. It is best to make an appointment with the hotel in advance for dinner. We don’t know. We went to the scene and were told that there was a second 20 o’clock. Fortunately, our driver sister and the front desk softly grinded hard and said that we were going to the beach to see the fire. We were transferred to the first session at 18:30. Although the quality of the buffet is not much, it tastes very good, especially fried shrimp, egg fried rice, steak. Soft drinks and beer are also free, and the meal time is 70 minutes.
After dinner, there are two roads from the hotel to the hydrophilic park google map, one passing through Atami Ginza, there are many people and cars and shops to walk slowly. If you want to feel lively, you can go here. We chose a path with steps along the river. It is not tired to go downhill to the beach. It takes about 12 or 3 minutes to get to the hydrophilic park. It is just right to see the fireworks here. If you don't want to go to the beach, there is also a terrace on the 5th floor of the hotel (you can see a sign on the same day), but it will be blocked by the front building.

The room is not small, the terrace is super large, you can see the sea, but it is blocked by high-voltage wires.
It's not far from Atami Station to the room, 10 minutes away, but you have to walk up the stairs or take an S-shaped road, which is a bit painful to carry a suitcase.
There is no bathroom in the room, only a public bath. There are very few people and it is almost reserved.
When I checked in at around 6:30, there was no one at the front desk. I had to call them to come out. It was a bit strange. And they also stipulated that the door is locked from 11pm to 6am the next day and no one can enter or leave.

But considering the price and room size of Atami Hotel, I still think this hotel is good value for money.
Actual stay experience:
The sanitary conditions are in line with the expectations of Japanese hotels and are quite clean.
In terms of transportation, it is a bit inconvenient. It is not far from the station, but because of the characteristics of Atami as a mountain city, it is very inconvenient to drag suitcases in the hotel south of Atami. I was exhausted with two suitcases on the first day, especially when I was in a hurry.
The facilities are indeed old, but it's just like that after getting used to it. The small TV is a problem, but moving the table over, it's not bad for the family to watch TV at night. It's a bit troublesome to make the bed yourself, but it's also fun, and it's relatively easy to put on the quilt.
In terms of service, the money I needed to pay was calculated incorrectly at the beginning, and I spent a lot of time at the front desk, and the attitude of the aunt with glasses was not particularly friendly, which is a minus point.
Hot springs are a big plus. Self-service free booking is very convenient. You can scan the QR code to see where there are vacancies and go directly. If it is a day-return hot spring, the booking is very expensive.
Overall, it is a good stay experience. It is like the Japanese apartment in Japanese dramas. The space is also open, and there is a microwave and refrigerator.

I'm not used to it, and I booked online, so there was no view from the window, and the window was covered in pigeon droppings, and the toilet window was covered in pigeon feathers.
