This is a comfortable hotel in a quiet neighborhood, and it was ideally located for us, since we traveled to Stockholm without a car. We landed at Stockholm Arlanda Airport on August 25th and took the Arlanda Express train (see separate review) to Stockholm Central Station, where we transferred to the city’s T-Bana (subway system) and rode Line 13 just one stop to the Östermalmstorg station, where we had a short and easy walk to the hotel. Helpful hint: when you exit the T-bana at Östermalmstorg, take the exit marked “Sibyllegatan,” which is the street closest to the hotel. If you take other exits, you might end up with quite a long walk around several city blocks. We arrived at the hotel at 11AM, well before the 3PM check-in time, but we were warmly welcomed by a kind and friendly woman named Gunilla, who checked us in, stored our bags in a secure room off the lobby, and invited us to relax and have a coffee until our room was ready. The coffee machine in the lobby is available to guests all the time and also supplies the coffee and hot water for the breakfasts and evening meals. It is a digital wonder which serves up the most delicious, robust, freshly-ground coffee we have ever had. We had booked a superior twin room with a “French” balcony, meaning that we had a balcony railing which overlooked the street but no actual balcony platform to step out onto. Two French doors opened onto this railing, and we kept those doors open at night to enjoy the fresh air. During our stay, the weather in Stockholm was sunny and warm, with cool evenings, and since the street outside the hotel was very quiet at night (and we were one floor above the street), we slept comfortably and securely, never disturbed by outside noise. Our room (106) was quite large, with comfortable beds, a desk, a storage unit with an electric kettle and coffee-making items, and a flat-screen TV. The bathroom was modern and spacious, and even though we had to step into a tub to use the shower, we had good water pressure and plenty of hot water as well as plush towels that were changed out every day by the housekeeping staff. In front of our windows and French doors was a sort of sitting area with an upholstered sofa, an upholstered easy chair and ottoman, and a glass-top table. This was a comfortable place to sit and read in the evening. The breakfast, included in the room rate, was a beautiful spread of eggs, sausages, meatballs, fish, fruit, cheeses, juices, and breads, all of which were prepared by a smiling staff in an open kitchen right behind the buffet. Every afternoon, guests can enjoy “fika,” a traditional Swedish midday snack of coffee and baked goods, served in the lobby and breakfast area. The hotel also offers guests a complimentary evening meal, served buffet-style in the breakfast area, with a variety of well-prepared salads, soups, and casseroles. We opted for this evening meal each night, rather than walk to a restaurant. Our room rate for two night
