We (a party of 4) had booked 2 Double Rooms with Volcano View for 2 nights, but a day before check-in, we received a message from the hotel asking whether we would like to stay in a 2-room self-catering villa sea-facing instead. We were sent a weblink of Villa Ginestra, and the photos showed a sparkling and beautiful villa (with a sea view to boost), so we accepted the offer. We were also told that the villa is “not that far away” from Hotel Ossidiana (which is just 150m from the port). A staff from Hotel Ossidiana took us through a labyrinth of narrow lanes to reach the villa, which was quite far from the port if you have heavy luggage and elderly parents with you. The villa was spacious but definitely didn’t look as new and as clean as the photos. It was really dated. Due to the fact that we had already agreed for the swap the day before, and our booked rooms were probably already given to others, we decided not to make a fuss, and just stayed there. However, if we had known the condition of the villa was going to be like that, we would not have agreed to swap our rooms for it. This review, therefore, is for Villa Ginestra, rather than Hotel Ossidiana, but it can be helpful for other travellers being offered this swap in the future.
