Melia Sunny Beach All Inclusive

Never again.... we have just come home from a one-week stay here. We are middle-aged with two children ages 11 and 12. We have been on many all inclusive 4 star Holidays and this was by far the worst. False advertisement of facilities on offer, take no notice. The hotel think its acceptable to caveat that 'facilities will be available dependant on hotel occupancy and demand, yes demand. I questioned the advertising with the hotel guest relations manager who is rude and won't accept any form of criticism. I have attached photos, this was the start of the school holidays on a £800 per person week long holiday. Under staffed, under resourced, heated pool freezing, 1 main restaurant no themed nights, just same weird concoctions daily like rabbit leg, swordfish and cuttlefish paella (disgusting) and 1 Indian restaurant with a small selection on offer, this was by far the best offering of food available, just how much curry can one person eat. The pool snack bar is not self service, if you like deep fried ribs, wings and hotdogs with chips you'll be OK. The Internet will tell you the snack bar is open till midnight what it fails to tell you is that the only thing available at this snack bar past 3pm is drinks! Drinks are served in little paper cups, pack some plastic cups they will save you multiple trips to the bar. The staff are awful! Rude... and very limited English. Lots of workers very young from neighbouring countries with very little hospitality skill. Our room was fantastic, roomy and couldn't complain until we had a power cut and the air conditioning was fixed on our last day! (Seriously!!) Sweltering heat for two nights with no air was not pleasant. Entertainment is just for young children, this hotel seems to think that letting a big bunch of kids on the stage every night to dance to chocolatte on repeat is entertainment. A LOT of corners are being cut at this hotel. What they advertise to the travel Company and what you get in reality are two very different entity's. The seagulls hound you for food and guests were taking it upon themselves to sound a hawk noise on their phones to try and scare them away.. just to be able to have a snack on the lounger. The new staff are not cooking the food properly, meat, eggs and fish was very raw at some meals. They also throw on activities like bowling, pool and water orbz with expensive price tags. I would absolutely not stay at this hotel ever again. Happy to answer any further questions that travellers may have, home feeling very .mislead and taken advantage of. Shame on TUI for continuing to advertise this hotel knowing that the information is not transparent. Neli the rep will tell you everything is in the small print. I've never ever needed to read small print!! What is advertised should be available. Sorry to be so negative and least constructive but I've been honest, therefor I do hopes it helps another family and that the hotel understands that this service isn't ok.

We stayed at the Melia the last week of May 24 as a family of 4. Two adults and two teens. Check in was quick and informative, our room was clean and spacious. We were in block A on a high level and had great views of the whole complex. As we were a corner junior room our balcony was a tad larger. The beds were large and comfortable, just the pillows weren't the best. The only downside was the drinks machine was placed outside of our room and made a bit of noise when in use but thankfully once it got to around 11pm most people didn't bother with it. Our stay was classed as being in low season, something that wasn't well advertised with our tour operator Tui when booking. We enjoyed our week at the Melia, we would return but in high season to see the difference. For our time at the complex there was only some things in operation. Restaurant in block A was open the whole time, that provided breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast was 8-10am Lunch 12:30-2:30pm Dinner 6-8pm Block C opened on the 31st May and offers the same selection of food as block A. There is a late breakfast option but we didn't see what or where you would get that. The Indian restaurant was open Monday to Friday during our stay, food was nice in there. As the hotel caters for people from around the world there is a variety of food options from cold to hot. I found most of the warm food very greasy and meat very pink. I did manage to find something to eat at all times and loved the deserts section. The pool snack bar was a big hit with us, the lads on there were really friendly and the portions were decent. Pools and slides Three good sized pools and a couple smaller ones outdoors and one pool indoors. The pools are all very cold, the one outside Block C is slightly warmer than the rest due to the dark tiles on the bottom but is slippy. The two large pools outside blocks A & B are very deep especially if you have young children and these pools are near the entertainment area so please watch your children don't toddle off as its 1.7m in depth. The indoor pool is a good size but as I said it's freezing like the rest. The lifeguards vary on what is allowed. One allows floats and beach ball playing the other doesn't allow anything but swimming. Slides are good fun and open for 2 periods during the day. Morning 10-12am Afternoon 3-5pm There are a number of lifeguards on duty till around 5/6pm. There is a children's pool with shallow water and a cute slide. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas around the Pools along with ashtrays. Entertainment Children's mini disco 8:30-9pm Sonic arrives during the disco, I think it would be nice to see a few different characters as after day 3 you know the drill. Evening entertainment starts at 9:30pm for around 40 to 50 minutes. It was good, better than we have experienced at other AI resorts. There was a good range of acts ranging from magic, traditional Bulgarian, dance and variety shows. On our last night the animation team

This is an excellent hotel we had a brilliant holiday. The staff are fantastic and very helpful. The food is great. A large selection of drinks are included. There are coffee and hot chocolate machines outside your room. The beach is a 5 minute walk away. It is great for children and they even provide baby food. There are buses to get to nearby places such as nessebar or you can even got to bourgas for a day if you want to go further. I would highly recommend this hotel for a family holiday.

We came just before the season started. The weather wasnt the best. But we really enjoyed our stay here and we would deffo return. The rooms were spacious and very clean. There is a coffee machine and water machine on every floor which was really good. The snack bar was amazing. The best burgers and hotdogs weve ever had. We ate in the indian resturant and really enjoyed that. The main resturant had a good choice of food and we enjoyed everything we had. The cocktails and drinks were also nice. Plenty of choice. Location is good. Just out the back of the hotel there is a ***** of shops and you just cross a little bridge and your at the beach. Plenty of shops, theme park everything within a few minutes walk. Enjoyed our stay here.

This was a brilliant 5 star treatment holiday from Start to finish, in my opinion, I would highly recommend a visit you won't be disappointed. From arrival (very late) we were offered sandwiches and drinks , as they recognised/acknowledged we had been travelling all day . All staff upon entry to the hotel were excellent and went over and above to help, facilitate and they kept all areas of the hotel to a very high standard of cleanliness, and they aimed to please at all times. They never failed , they are a credit to the hotel and definitely worth a return visit . Only 1 issue, which is not a biggie , have more then 1 beer available, bottles or tap.

Absolutely fantastic. Staff lovely, food too good but I did need to put on a few pounds lol. Room gorgeous 1435. Also love room key on wrist band, so no worrying whether husband remembered key. No doubt we will be back one day. Beautiful hotel. Right, it's last day so going to get free gin. 😀. If in any doubt about Bulgaria come to Melia sunny beach all inclusive.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE!!!!!! I wanted to put a little review of this hotel for people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users. I booked via tui but I also reached out to the hotel prior to our break to check that my room had everything I need for a electric wheelchair. So the whole site is is great wheelchair accessible. The room I was put in was one of the best hotel rooms I've ever had for a wheelchair. With loads of room to move around with a level floor throughout including bathrooms. Yes that did hace a s on the end. So our room had two bathrooms one that was wheelchair accessible and one that was not. Now as for the wheelchair bathroom it was fitted with holding rails around toilet and shower and also has a seat in the shower. Not a garden seat a proper disabled seat with a huge amount of room to transfer. Not only that it was stylish and was present to use. Both bathroom have a built in radio. I live the fact that my family was not restricted to a disability bathroom and had the comfort of a normal one to. All the door was widened (apart from the other bathroom) the beds was a tiny bit low but that's me pushing to be a bit picky. There were two balconys in our room with that I would guess is a half inch frame. I have a lockdown pin on my chair and still managed to get over it with enough room on both balconys to fully turn the chair. It was not a sea view but a nice part of the hotel. The room has a fridge, TV and free safe with a very large wardrobe. With a seating area and twin coffee tables. And a sofa also in the room. Two air conditioners with a remote that worked very well. The site itself was amazing for access and did not have any problems at all. The smaller lifts at the rear of the hotel have a slight ramp by the indoor pool that could be hard for manual wheelchair users but all the other lifts are east to use. The buffet center was well spaced and again I had no problems at all. Round the hotel.... If you have looking into this hotel you will know there's a lot I mean a LOT of shopping near by. Now there is a ramp now this is a man made ramp and small but very steep. So keep that in mind straight over the road is a wooden well maintained path that leads to all the shops and the beach. From there onwards is great access. There is a ramp to the beach but be careful as there are a few broken boards. The other streets are very hard work. The curbs are about 12 inch high and not many places that have dropped curbs some of the shops also have steps. Good was decent but I mostly ate at the poolside burger bar as the staff there was great and there BBQ ribs was epic. They also have a disabled toilet in the reception area see photos I would definitely return again

AVOID. The staff were awful. Minus a few who were okay but nobody was friendly. Despite this, they want tips and actually ask for them!!! My child was ill and they would not give me a takeaway carton to take food to the room for her. One male staff member kept shouting NO across the restaurant to me when I asked another member of staff. Who then also refused, one young male member of staff ignored them and got me a carton. The one who refused and shouted at me, then proceeded to point and glare at me every time I went to the restaurant after that. My child hated the place because everyone was so rude. I would never go back to Bulgaria because of this experience!

Arrived Tuesday 14th May for 2 weeks quick check in went to our room 1201 lovely size and clean and bathroom with hairdryer etc went to the bar staff very helpful offering the cocktail of the day plus there is other cocktails and alcohol options the dinning room again very clean and the food is to die for well cooked and hot and again the staff very helpful and polite the snack bar well the staff again very polite and cooks ur food to a high standard again the snacks are to die for again the staff is a credit to the hotel I would definitely recommend this hotel this won't be our last vist.
