Kimpton Bamboo Grove Suzhou

This is a very nice hotel located in the old city of Suzhou. Service was excellent. We had dinner at the restaurant which was very tasteful. Breakfast buffet was a very good selection of both Chinese and western varieties. The rooms are super comfortable with a balcony. The hotel is equipped with a good sized gym, even with a Pilates reformer. The pool would have been tranquil if not for the life-guard, apparently also doubling duty as a swimming coach, giving loud instructions to two swimmers.

We had an excellent stay at the hotel. The welcome was friendly from the moment we arrived to the time that we left. The room was clean and modern with a nice balcony view which brings in welcomed natural light. You could choose option of a power shower or a ultra cool bath. I liked the there were lovely Christmas themed decorations which brightened up the evenings. The aesthetics was very pleasing to the eye. The breakfast was fantastic- good options and also great service. The hotel is within a modern complex so you also had restaurant options on your doorstep. Also there is a subway station a few steps away- perfectly placed location. We would definitely come back to stay here. It’s a great option for couples, families or singles.

One of the most impressive hotels I stayed in recent years. - Good value: hotel at same caliber would cost 2X ~3X more in first tier cities easily. - Friendly staff: aside from being offered an upgrade to one of the ground floor courtyard suites (thanks David!), everyone is genuinely friendly. - Top notch room/interior design: modern and high-end furniture/fixtures/appliances/accessories (huge TV). - TV accepts screen casting; also a Bluetooth speaker is on one of the bedside tablets. These are small things but makes the stay much easier to be personalized and enjoyable. - Of course the curtains are motorized. - Only complaint, that's is, if you come here to work, there isn't a proper desk for your laptop etc other than a small round coffee table. But I suppose that's intentional, maybe? ;-P

Fantastic stay all round with fantastic amenities and a great location in a quieter part of the Old Town.

Very nice stay at Kimpton Bamboo Grove, a bit further from the hustle and bustle of main attractions but perfect for those wanting a bit more privacy. It’s next to a mall with a lot of restaurants and bars but noise wasn’t an issue even during the May holiday. Wonderful service from Wendy and Derek (concierge) who helped us arrange visits and also made sure the stay for our 7 month old twins was comfortable! They have a nice pool and gym (but no spa) and free happy hour daily at their scenic bar. Their breakfast had a nice range of local and western options and we enjoyed sitting outside next to waterway.

The location of the hotel is not bad; however, there were a few issues: the AC did not work and it was soooo warm in the hotel room. There were mosquitos in the hotel room even though it’s the end of October. The shower room door would not close entirely. Overall it’s not really worth the price.
