The Bell at Tanworth

Having lived in this village for 19 years, it is a shame to have to put on a review that is so negative for my local pub. My family of 5 went for a meal on Jan 10th at The Bell, having eaten there on Chris**as Day and many years prior, we had high expectations which are usually met. Unfortunately, we got off to a bad start as two members ordered the mussels, which came out almost stone cold (as well as their partnering of fries), and the "fresh bloomer bread" was first of all forgotten, and upon being reminded, the staff brought out cold sliced bread that had clearly come off any old loaf. The "Cheesy Truffle Tiger Fries" were yet another disappoin**ent to two members of our party. The truffle oil was undetectable, and the cheese certainly not melted... apparently they are under the "to share" section of the menue at £8 each... regrettably they do not fulfil this either. Moving on to dessert, two members chose the "Luxury Biscuit Sundae" which sadly lacked in cheesecake pieces and came with a lump of frozen fruit that was inedible (I mean a handful of raspberries frozen together like they were just dug out of the freezer). Upon bringing this to the attention of staff, we were told it was supposed to come like that...even though frozen fruit ice block wasn't in the description. Finally, the tantalising sounding "S'mores Chocolate Brownie" had what appeared to be tinned cherries (not Cherry Compote), no vanilla ice cream and no biscoff crumbs either! Oh and the toasted marshmallows were those mini ones you can buy at the supermarket - sadly instead of toasted they were hard and stale. The staff who served us were lovely and accommodating, these downfalls are that of the Chef. Since this pub has been taken over by the Stonegate group standards have fallen and the menu is NOT an accurate description of what you get but rather false advertising! P.S. two members of my family went for a roast a few weeks ago... their bill was scrapped as their meat came out cold (once they had to pick between two as Chef had run out of the rest) and their vegetables were raw...

It's just around 10pm in the evening and instead of being very comfortable and settling down for the night the noise from the room above mine, room 4 in the outside converted building, added to the crowd of people outside just leaving the pub is too much. There is no soundproofing whatsoever between rooms 3 and 4. Room three is the ground floor, and 4 is above. Every creak and step is heard. I am around three hours from home, and I am about to leave now instead of in the morning. I don't know what the other rooms are like but avoid room three.

Great service from Edwina and the staff. They always make sure that your visit is enjoyable. They are dog friendly and even have a dog menu. If you’re only popping in for a drink there are plenty of dog treats available for your best buddy. Lovely a**osphere and well worth a visit

Hotel-standard rooms in beautiful location with genuine and attentive staff. Excellent breakfast and superb choice on pub menu, including vegetarian options. Edwina and Michael made us feel so welcome.

Amazing hospitality, wonderful sleep and perfect food. Had a restorative stay in enchanting Tanworth-in-Arden for a few days and although accommodation is (thankfully) scarce, I’d be delighted to stay somewhere like this whenever I went anywhere. Big thanks to lovely landlady Eddie and her attentive and happy staff. See you again.

Saturday night and they moved tables so we could eat together with our dog. Welcoming, lovely table service from Ruby and the kitchen staff Edwina, Izzy, Mike and George served up lovely food, sea bass was my favourite. Pitched in with a jug of Pimms for the ladies, very fruity and minty. The Dessert was a plate full of sharing tastes. Plenty of car park space behind the pub down a side road and attentive service from the young, happy staff.

Saturday night and a family meal, with the dog too! Lovely welcome, moved tables to accommodate us. A Pitcher of Pimms and excellent sea bass pesto made for a great evening. Vegetarian choices and a super plate of desserts. The waitresses were very attentive and pleasant, thanks to Ruby and in the kitchen Edwina, Izzy Mike and George. Parking available on the green and in the car park at the Inn, entrance down the side.

Such friendly, helpful staff. Excellent food and the rooms are amazing. 5 star all round. Breakfast was devine. They catered a family reception across the green in the church. Excellent service, such picturesque setting.

A throughly enjoyable lunch with friends and family made better by very good food and helpful staff. I’m not a lover of having to order your meal a few weeks before the day but in this case it certainly didn’t matter. Everything was well presented and delicious
