Belum Rainforest Resort

The resort is located within the rainforest and has a beautiful surrounding. Rooms are spacious and we stayed in 2 rooms which are connected. We could hear frogs croaking all night long which made us sleep soundly. Reservation was quite a hassle and we could not find any available date in Agoda, *********** and any other hotel portals even though it is listed. We whatsapped the hotel but the response was slow and eventually we called by phone. Reservation has to be secured by full payment made via bank transfer. We find this practice a bit unusual. We booked the Dicovery Belum package which required permits into the rainforest. It was very disppointing as a few of the destinations in the itinerary were cancelled due to spotting of tiger in the nearby area. However, this was not comminicated to us beforehand and we were only informed when we boarded the boat. It was such a shame that during the return journey, the boat ran out of fuel and all of us were stuck in the middle of the lake for about an hour until the guide finally managed to contact the resort to send someone to deliver the fuel to refill our boat. There are 2 restaurants in the resort, one serves ala carte and the other one serves buffet. We tried the ala carte on the first day and the dishes served were the most salty food we ever had in our lifetime, almost unedible! Buffet breakfast was mediocre, but I wouldn't pay for such a price if not it was already included in our room rate. It is quite a pity that our trip is ruined due to the poorly organised discovery package. Otherwise, we would have enjoyed better in such a beautiful natural environment.

The resort setting is beautiful, tranquil rainforest, clouds over the lake, everything you can dream of. But at the prices they are charging, I would expect more. The room itself is spacious, but I had to ask maintenance to come several times to repair lights that are not working and a toilet that was plugged. Also, the rooms near the bridge - you can hear the traffic. Hardly what you would expect from such an ecological setting. After all, I came to get away from traffic! I would not recommend the rooms facing the bridge at all because this is the East West highway. The food was delicious. Everything was tasty and well done, except for maybe the chicken chop which was a bit salty. We took several excursions with the hotel boat, like a round island trip and to see the Rafflesia. It was pricey, but the staff were very helpful and accommodating. All in all, I would definitely return, but to a better room not facing the highway. I would also ask the hotel to better maintain the facilities. The hotel was relatively empty at this season, and still, booking was such a hassle as you couldn't get it in Agoda. I would have thought you would want to market your hotel better, no?

The hotel is nice but needs some renovation. The state park is beautiful. The tour organized by the hotel is overly expensive and be aware that they sometimes have groups of almost 40 people in 1 tour. That does not give you the “jungle experience” at all. We had to queu at every sight. The guide was very friendly and did his best. So a beautiful place but it is obvious that the hotel overcharges its guests on tours. So if you can, book the tour elsewhere.

Belum Rainforest resort is a 4 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. The Resort is location wise quite nice. The staff knows fair English. But they are slow to respond to our needs. We wanted to enjoy the activities offered by the resort but they had no for answer. They say that staff has gone for excursion and so we could not enjoy any of the experience Rainforest has to offer. When we checked outside we came to know that we have to get permission from the authorities if we want to experience Raffelasia spotting, or visiting Orang asli village or the scenic waterfall. The hotel did not mention any of this so we just ended up taking dip in the swimming pool. Disappointed

I have to rate this.. It was a fantastic, irreplaceable experience... I was a bit skeptical, however my thought has been changed immediately, after u arrived. The warm welcome from the friendly staffs made me so warm, and couldn't wait to start up my journey. The houseboat was clean huge. The houseboat setting - dining area, with kitchen (only staff), karaoke, and movie area Second level, all the rooms - consists of 4 bedrooms - master bedroom (Queen size bed) with toilet, and 2 bedrooms - 5 pax per room, however the middle room might be a bit warm as only has 1 window, the last room would be 2 pax with double decker. Top level would be huge open area which u can enjoy the scenary, drinking session, and at night, if u r lucky, you can view the nice night view with full of stars. I was so fortunate and able to have the fantastic view. They need to off the genset around midnight to save the power, it was quite warm in my first night, second night is chill and cold weather. The scenary at this reserved forest is marvelous. We didn't manage to view any wold animals, but definitely worth to pay a visit

Struttura fatiscente, tutto in cemento armato che cade a pezzi...per un prezzo così elevato mi aspettavo qualcosa di notevole...non un vecchio triste hotel lasciato al caso...camere vecchie e sprovviste di ogni confort. Cene e colazioni a buffet sempre fredde e sc****, l'unica cosa notevole è una piscina a sfioro con vista sul lago

Sur le papier ça a l air magnifique on pourrait croire qu on est en pleine nature mais on est à 25 mètres de la route avec bcp de circulation de jour comme de nuit .De plus l hôtel est très mal insonorisé on se croirait dans un hlm ,nous avions une chambre azlani 109 un peu décevante ,dos fracassé au réveil . L hôtel vieilli mal , piscine pas entretenue algue au fond 6 transats pour je pense 50 chambres . Repas chers 45 rm pour petit dej buffet avec pas grand chose de bon , mm pas de choix de fruits , buffet du soir 80 par personne et vraiment pas top . Prix abusifs pour tout arnaque à touriste . Ce soir nous dînerons sur la jetty comme suggéré dans un commentaire précédent ! A éviter mais comme ils sont pile entre Penang et les prerenthians …. Le personnel comme d habitude est parfait souriants et gentils

Fantastische accommodatie! Mooi ingericht en heerlijke bedden. De beste die we gehad hebben in Maleisië! Het eten was heel goed. Het personeel is oprecht erg aardig en willen graag dat je het naar je zin hebt. Fijn en mooi zwembad met mooi uitzicht. De omgeving is prachtig met 's avonds een kikkerconcert. Natuurlijk maak je hier ook een excursie over het water. Wij hadden het geluk dat we een olifant en de neushoornvogel zagen.
