Bahar Boutique Hotel

This is one of those rare hotels that looks just as glorious in reality as it does in all its glamorous promotional photos. The place was immaculate and really stood out in a city that can be a bit rough round the edges! The style and the decor was absolutely lovely and it felt like a really high end establishment despite the very reasonable room rates. Staff were always friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good quality. There's a small buffet of pastries and cereals, then you can choose a hot dish they'll prepare for you (mostly different egg dishes or pancakes) along with a barista coffee. We absolutely loved the location which was right in the thick of things with loads of trendy bars and great restaurants on the doorstep. There are hundreds of great places to eat and drink in the nearby vicinity but if you prefer somewhere quiet this probably isn't the one for you. We stayed on the third floor and didn't hear any outside noise unless the air conditioning was turned off, but even then it wasn't too loud to be a problem. Just be aware you are in a very busy area that stays busy all night. If ever we're in Thessaloniki again we will 100% stay at Bahar Boutique again and would recommend it to anyone

The neighborhood is good. Many tavernas and coffee places We stayed for 6 nights. We booked a Superior room. We received room number 4.4 that was very bad: there was no Desk. The kettle was in a shelf that was in a corner of the wall, and over it the TV, half of it on the wall and half out of the wall, in the passage to the bathroom. My husband banged his head on the TV corner when trying to make coffee. Noise from air condition motors all the time. Impossible to open window. There was a chair in the way from the bed to the bathroom. No place else to put the chair. Very small room. The refrigerator occupied the place of the shelves in the closet. So there were no shelf to put clothes. The room was noisy even after 2 o'clock in the morning! Full of hard rock music nearby. In the morning we asked to change the room. We got room no. 3.1. Very good. It had a small bathroom spa that we did not need. But because of this jakuzi it was the most expensive room they had. No other rooms available. So we stayed for another 5 nights. The hard rock music was bothering also in this room. Breakfast is served from 8:00 AM. That means that if you have booked an excursion that leaves at 8:00 from the meeting point that is 20 minutes from the hotel, you have to ask for a breakfast box. We asked for this breakfast box 3 times. Because we had 2 tours and we left early on the last day to the airport. They were miser. First time we asked there was not enough food for one person and we were 2. So next times I specified what to put in the box. And did not get as I asked. Not enough cucumber or butter. Really small portions. They left a bottle of water on the first day. No more. There was a tiny container with instant coffee that was enough for 1 person for 1 day. They only filled it when we asked and only once. For the price they asked they should have to be more generous.

This is a super centrally located hotel in one of the rather few historic houses in downtown Thessaloniki. But be aware that night life has also discovered that this is one of the nicest parts in town and conquered the street and square around the hotel, so it may be rather noisy, especially if it is a Friday or Saturday night. However, the windows are well noise insulated and the hotel offered us ear plugs for a quiet sleep. Moreover, we enjoyed being in the centre of things and how close it was to all sights and the Old Port. They did a tremendous job refurbishing the old building, rooms are modern and impeccable and we enjoyed the breakfast on the quiet street (in the mornings). We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Thessaloniki.

When I saw pictures on the their booking platform, I did not book the hotels since I was afraid of "old style". We ended up here as a spontaneous choice when in the city. And I loved it, it was the most romantic place I have stayed in Thessaloniki. I loved the location and the hotel's ambience. We had the room with cute little balconies. The sense for detail in this place is amazing, even to the tiny moments as choice of snack in the room. Customized beautiful chocolates. The staff was very efficient. I adored this hotel and it's style. The breakfast room has very special atmosphere. I was alone with 2 teenage kids, but it felt like honeymoon 😀

Besides the accomodations, ambience, and quality of Bahar Boutique Hotel, the staff went far and beyond for us. We had a quasi- medical emergency and needed a hospital and (Ms. Nestora and Aggios) were immediately on the task. They directed us to the the appropriate facility and interpreted for us to the taxi driver and the hospital. Everything about the Bahar was excellent!!! Great location and a very quaint bar and delicious breakfast but KUDOS especially to the staff!!!

The hotel is very nice. And I wanted to write a review that was both helpful for possible guests and not damaging for the hotel. That’s why I rated it with 5 starts because my intention not ti harm them. But you need to know that if you want to sleep this is not the place to stay. The hotel has terrible noises all day and night. The construction has a echo that makes every single noise noticeable, I could hear even when they turned on the lights in the room next to mine. On top of that is located in a super busy area, they played drums right next to my window from 1:00 am to 5:00 am. Impossible to sleep. And then at 7:00 am the kids from other rooms where. Already screaming and I could hear them as they were playing literally inside my room. So, hotel nice, staff nice, breakfast nice. But the noise is unbearable and I couldn’t sleep anything the two nights I stayed here. I hope this helps you make a decision and you can have a lovely stay in Thessaloniki.

We stayed for three nights which for us was plenty in a city. The hotel is located very near to the Ladadika district which is perfect for traditional restaurants and alternative bars. As expected the area that the hotel is situated in is busy. Thessaloniki is Greeces second city. There are a lot of people, music, hustle and bustle. It’s in the middle of the city! It’s not quiet, why would you expect it to be? We stayed in room 4.4, the air conditioning worked perfectly, kept us at the right temperature all night. we opened the window in the day for a bit of fresh air but didn’t spend much time time in the room in the day. The bathroom is small but exactly what’s needed, the shower was powerful. The room itself is perhaps a bit on the small side but we only use hotel rooms to sleep in so for us it was fine. Very comfortable bed and pillows. The hotel was extremely clean and decorated to a very high standard. We arrived Friday evening and the receptionist was so friendly and helpful. She arranged for us to go on a tour the following morning and left breakfast boxes in our room. I would recommend going on a tour to mount Olympus, our guide was really informative and the sights were breathtaking. Sunday and Monday we ate breakfast in the hotel, there is a cafe/bar to the side of Bahar Boutique Hotel which caters breakfast for the hotel guests. The buffet was very small but it’s not a huge hotel or cafe so I’m not really sure what people expect. The cooked menu had lots of options and we have no complaints :) We met three receptionists over our three day stay and they were all fantastic! We loved our stay, thank you so much :)

The major critique with the hotel is the Breakfast. They provide a very limited buffet two meats, two cheeses, cereal, yogart, several sweet items, a few Greek items, and a couple sweet cakes. However, from the warm food items - you can choose 1 per person there is an additional cost for the second item - e.g., Scrambled Eggs (1) side Pancake ($). But, the real annoyance is the second cup of coffee also cost more. This type of "nickel and dime" charges are petty.
