I led a women's retreat here and it was the most amazing experience. Not only was Shannon (the owner) an absolute delight to work with, the actual lodge is a very special place. The grounds were beautifully kept with benches and tables to sit by the river. We stayed in The Riverhouse which was a perfect central gathering place for attendees. Nice and cozy, plenty of room, great views. The beds were comfy with plenty of pillows and blankets. Bathrooms had sustainable bodycare products that were a welcomed complement since so many places only offer single use items with harmful ingredients. We had the yoga loft as part of our retreat rental and it was full of all the yoga props we needed for our restorative yoga classes: bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, and even sandbags. We could open the windows and hear the sounds of the river down below. The lights were dimmable so it created a calming ambience for our classes. Being so close to the entrance of Sequoia National Forest was a huge plus too! There's little to no service which helped us unplug and slow down enough to enjoy the beauty all around. There is WiFi that worked for basic things like texting, calling, emailing, and scrolling. All in all, I can't recommend this place enough! And if you're leading a retreat there or bringing a group and want a private chef, hire Ari Noelke! She was so so accommodating of the various dietary restrictions some of the attendees had. She was also a delight to work with and the food was so delicious! And if you want a hiking guide for the park, hire Krista from Sequoia Guides! She offered a beautiful blend of science and sacred while we met some of the giant sequoias and made the whole experience that much more special for all of us.
