Sol Torremolinos - Don Pedro

Enjoyed a week half board food all excellent and plentiful, Rooms cleaned daily and staff all friendly could not find any faults with hote a enjoyable week spent in Don Pablo. The only thing I would say is the Xtra room ,is it worth the extra money, I don't think I would book again I would go with side sea view.

I began writing this review on our final day after spending a week on half board to the Sol Don Pedro. This hotel is by far the largest we have ever stayed in here in Spain with its advantages and disadvantages. The complex is huge consisting of the enormous Don Pablo and the two smaller Don Pedro and Don Marco hotels. All the facilities throughout the complex are available to all visitors so there is a lot of choice. All the staff we interacted with over the week were extremely pleasant and professional and, like so many Spanish hotels, this one was immaculately clean throughout at all times. Spanish cleaning staff really do work hard to maintain these standards. The room we had was a little small but totally modern and updated. I asked for two single beds by e-mail in advance and that’s indeed what I got. How wonderful that the satellite TV worked superbly. There is a plethora of foreign channels including BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. In some hotels we’ve stayed in their satellite signals have been intermittent to poor but not here at the Don Pedro. Good internet is very important to myself personally and here is was almost faultless during the entire week. The speeds were well able to handle streaming. Since I like to stream French TV it met my needs superbly. The internet connection never let us down and permitted large uploads to social media etc. In terms of the food we were both impressed by how well the hotel maintained the quality of what was on offer. We thought that the quality of the food, especially for the evening meal, was spot on. There was an amazing choice of salad dishes, two soups and a great range of main courses plus desserts, cheese and crackers. There’s a dedicated kid’s section too with all their favourite foods. We really ate well here and enjoyed it enormously. From a personal point of view this hotel complex was perhaps a bit too large for our liking. There’s so many corridors, twists and turns to navigate. However, this is merely a personal view. There is no reason why anyone would not have a very successful and happy holiday at Sol Torremolinos. We would recommend it totally.

We’ve been at this hotel before. It’s a great location on the beach. The rooms are well decorated and the beds are very comfy. The breakfast is excellent with a lot of choice. The outdoor areas are well kept and clean. We arrived at night and were both very thirsty and the reception team gave us a bottle of water. This was an excellent touch and much appreciated. The room I was allocated was above the bins. Over night the noise of glass being thrown into the bins woke me a few times. The bins were emptied at 6am waking me again. The hotel bar at the time we visited didn’t seem to provide table service and a lot of tables hadn’t been cleared the times we were in. I was able to move to another room which was very quiet indeed. My advice to the hotel is not to sell these rooms overlooking the bins as it’s not pleasing to look at or listen to the noise. Perhaps more staff helping out in the bar providing table service. All in all the hotel provides a good experience.

Went with package company Jet2. Solo traveler for 12 days. My first anxious holiday alone. My first contact with the Don Pedro hotel was an email, just asking about details of early breakfast & dinner due to excursions & flight times. I couldn't have been happier with the response, friendly, professional & happy to do whatever they could to help. To help those who have not visited before, this is a multi complex of hotels (Don Pablo - biggest, Don Pedro, Don Pablo) and you share each others facilities. Due to the late flight I had 30mins to check-in & find the Don Pablo restaurant for dinner before it closed at 10pm. The receptionist (whom I think had a name like Debora?), was absolutely amazing, so kind & friendly. The place is a maze & in the dark more daunting. The left hand lift by reception also didnt open properly, so I thought within 15mins of arriving I was going to be stuck in the lift (I found other guests later also complaining about it). The restaurant had friendly waiters but weirdly the managers did not seem customer service based and can come across as sharp. The food was adequate, some weird combinations but enough to find something each night. I would classify this a 3* and for just a small bottle of water it was 2.50E. Flamenco night we all got given a carnation before dinner which was a lovely touch. Went in April. The complex was wonderful, although the Don Marco was being renovated & you had building noise and sewage smells. However, saying that, the place was cleaned within an inch of its life, it was spotless. The pools at night also had fencing to stop anyone falling in etc.. Your main entrance/exit for Pedro & Marco is towards the beach where you go through a security gate, which makes you feel safe in the complex. Most of the security were all very friendly. The room I had was lovely, well laid out. Tv did not have signal. There was a huge gap above my entrance door and there could have been better cleaning. I did have to call maintenance for the non-draining shower but within seconds of the report a very friendly guy came to help which was great service. My only recommendation was that I was put in a room with a high walled balcony.. therefore if I sat down, I looked at the wall. So, could you please put higher chairs and tables on the balcony so you can relax and actually see the lovely view? The entertainment was very below standard, even though each night we had 2 on offer. The bar staff were again friendly and a pot of tea was 2.50E. The location was great, you can walk along the beach to Malaga or Benalmadena. Shops & places to visit are also nearby. So a good destination. I ticked a box on entering the hotel to say that I wanted to join the Melia rewards, I was so impressed that I would go back again. HOWEVER, on check-out I expected some sort of membership card (like the H10 hotels do) but I was told by quite an unfriendly receptionist that you can only join BEFORE the hol

What a lovely hotel to stay at, Ana at reception is a gem. She was lovely when we entered and helped us with some questions. We stayed in room 2314 and it was lovely. Had everything we needed ie fridge and hairdryer etc. We found the beds to very comfortable, nice air con in the room and lovely view of one of the 4 pools in the complex. We were staying for bed and breakfast and the foods were so good. We were honestly delighted with the range of choices and everything we had was of great standards. Carlos ( egg chef) at breakfast was so nice and patient with everyone and he has was nice and mannered even when very busy. Our towels were changed everyday and beds made everyday for our 6 day stay. There was even a luggage room for our luggage while we waited for the plane. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!! All the staff we were greeted and served by were lovely and the hotel is spotless even while there was work going on in the don Marco hotel you could not hear it from any point in the hotel. In addition to the Great Location, 200m from the Beach, yet in a secluded area, the hotel environment is fantastic and very relaxing. The personal is extremely friendly in all areas, the buffets at the various restaurants are fantastic: offering a large variety of quality food and various themes along the week, which make it less monotoneous. Rooms are comfortbale and spacious. Melia colour theme throughout the hotel areas are very pleasant and provide a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

For context, we are a family of four, toddler and an 8 year old. We stayed in the Don Pedro side of the hotel for seven nights, all-inclusive. We had use of the entire complex. The hotel seemed busy but I'd imagine the summer gets crazy with the size of the place. It felt quite relaxing this time of the year. Rooms - We booked a Sol Xtra Family Room. We had hoped to upgrade on arrival but there was no option available. I felt the room was too small for the four of us. We managed but it was cramped. The room itself was lovely, nice balcony, comfy bed, good shower, coffee facilities. The room was nice and quiet. Food - Overall I found it very good. I'm vegetarian and there were plenty options for me. Lovely salads, pasta, potato options. There was fresh fish and meat cooked to order also. Breakfast was lovely, loads of fruit, pastries, nice coffee, cook to order eggs. Loads of cheeses available with crackers etc, I really enjoyed that. We never really got snacks at any of the bars as we were too full from our meals but I think it's not very clear what the options are outside of meal times, there wasn't much advertised around this. I really can't imagine how you'd struggle with the food options here, there was so many options. Drinks - All perfectly fine for us. You can upgrade to Gold All Inclusive (€12 per day) to avail of a few extra premium drinks but I honestly don't see the point. The gins, vodkas on the normal all-inclusive had many branded drinks. Really liked the cava they had. Pools - Outdoor pools were very cold. There was an indoor pool which was great. I think one outdoor pool being heated would have been great, considering there are so many pools on site. There were loads of sun loungers available. Location - Directly across the road from a lovely beach. Perfectly located for walks along the promenade. Close to the airport. We felt very safe and secure here. There was a security guard at the gate of the hotel and vehicles weren't allowed in very far which was great for peace of mind with kids around. Bars - Bar Jimenez in Pedro was nice enough, if a little soulless. Bar Ingles in Pablo was a bit livelier and had a warmer atmosphere. The Blue Horizon looks onto the beach which is gorgeous. Really lovely spot to sit. Staff - Everyone was very helpful and you felt like they wanted you to enjoy your holiday. I generally felt a nice vibe from all the staff which is nice as you get the feeling it's a nice place to work. Cleanliness - Couldn't fault it. The room and balcony were spotless. Coming down to breakfast one morning the cleaning staff were cleaning everywhere around reception. The general areas are so clean. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. I would imagine that it's a bit crazy in high summer but then most resorts are. There was very little queuing for food, drinks, reception during our time. Our kids didn't use the kids club so I can't comment on that but it did look like the
