Great spot for a restful getaway. All staff very friendly and helpful. This resort seems to be popular with big groups. So you may need to wait a little to get checked in (or get help in general) but don't worry, you will be attended to very soon. Rooms clean and comfy - basic, but what more do you need? It's a beach resort with great weather, so I was only in the room to sleep and shower anyway! Our room was very spacious too. Cleaned daily including mopping of floors. Fresh bath towels will be provided if you leave used towel on the floor, and it seems towels are changed regardless on weekends. Tap water occasionally smells a bit odd, but it's common knowledge that the tap water in ZNZ is not drinkable. The hotel provides unlimited drinking water, plus housekeeping provides small bottles of water in the room and replaces them every day if used. All inclusive meals: Buffet breakfast and lunch options are generally the same every day, but there is enough variety in the meal options. Dinner is themed every night (e.g. Italian, Indian, fusion) so if you stay a week you could have a different meal every night. I noticed that when certain meal options ran out, they were replaced. We occasionally arrived late for meals but there was still enough food for us. For the picky eaters they have french fries and pizza with every lunch and dinner. The a la carte restaurant (additional cost) makes more Western style meals too. The food is good, not excellent but not terrible. Normal buffet I guess! All inclusive drinks menu is fairly extensive. Cocktails are nice but too sweet for me personally. If you have a sweet tooth you'll love them. There is different live entertainment every night after dinner. Enjoy awesome shows by super-talented local performers, tip them well, and be ready for a little dancing afterwards. Some hints: - English is spoken, but a little Swahili goes a LONG way :) - One pillow provided per guest. If you want a second pillow just ask at reception and housekeeping will bring it. - Wi-fi connection can be unstable, and doesn't extend to the rooms - works best in common areas - but this wasn't a problem for me personally. If you do need to stay connected, there are lots of sofas in the reception area where you can sit and log on. - Accept that certain food which is commonplace in your culture/country may not be as easily available in ZNZ. You are traveling after all, try something new! - You can book tours to other parts of Zanzibar through the excursions office on site - boat trips, snorkeling, ocean safari etc. it gets cheaper if more people join a single tour, so make friends and enjoy the discount! - Boutique sells some essentials as well as souvenirs. Expensive (as can be expected). - Plugs: Although much of Tanzania and even Stone Town uses the UK three-point square pin plug, this resort accommodates two-point round pin plugs (perfect for SA phone chargers). Overall terrible stay at Uroa Bay, Zanzibar. The food and drinks are terrible, and the service is pathetic. They repurpose yesterday's food for next day's breakfast. We paid for an ALL INCLUSIVE and got the local gin, vodka, brandy, etc. but terrible. Certain cocktails such as pina colada is not available (you need to pay etc.) The wine is not drinkable. The cuppucino is from a vending machine, also terrible. We paid a reasonable price for the holiday but it is not worth the price we paid. There are smaller hotels next door that's probably is a lot cheaper. Hotel facilities are outdated. Towels are old and are picked up early even before the rooms are cleaned. I imagine they do not have enough. We had no hot water on the day we arrived. The owners live on the property but do not get involved. We requested for a cake to be made for our friend that turned 60...and I got no assistance. I tried to connect with the hotel before we left and whilst we were there and no one assisted us. Even after speaking to the owner. Compared to other islands we visited, this hotel is at the bottom of my list. Staff are stubborn and do not try to make your stay memorable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Even though the entertainment was daily and decent, that is not the thing that makes your holiday great. I booked my holiday through AfricaStay...also pathetic service from them. They request payment immediately but do not care about service and their customers.

I will definitely not recommend Uroa Bay. The food is not tasty and not sure what meat they use. Although they have different themes I could not eat their food. Only had the fries. Bread and some fruit. Food is cold. There is flies sitting on the food. Although I mentioned it to the staff nothing was done to it and food remained open. I suggest they invest in Bain Marie’s to keep their food warm. The cheese has a horrible taste. Had no water for 2 days in our shower. Last day only dripping water We went as a group of 13 people and 8 of us got a tummy bug. My daughter’s baby got sick on the second day and her tummy was running for 5 days. I spend the last day in bed. It is 3 days later since we returned and I am still in bed. Many other guests got sick and was also complaining about the food. Mattresses and pillows in the rooms are hard. There is a bad smell hanging around there
