My husband and our adult son and I were at the Brisas del Caribe in Veradero from Apr 5 to 12, 2024. Overall, we had an ok time, and most of the staff were friendly. Service at the bars was excellent. There was plenty of coffee served just the way we wanted. However, due to some shortages in cocktail mixes and alcohol, including good quality rum, some favorite drinks were lacking. The rum served was of the poorest quality in the country, as "we are going through a difficult time in our country" staff explained. Fortunately, my husband and I are not regular drinkers and it didn't matter much to us, but our son was not happy about the situation. He did like the rye whisky, though, served with coca cola as an alternative. **Re night entertainment: it was good, especially the night where the Cuban dancers were on the stage, also when we were privileged to watch a live match between the Cuban boxing olympic team and the French Olympic team on a huge screen outdoors. (It was $20 to enter the boxing tent.) The Cuban team won & will compete at the Paris summer Olympics. We later got to meet the Cuban coach and a two time boxing champion! **Re our rooms: the two rooms we booked (one for us, one for our son) were clean enough and all the plumbing worked. Once only,, there was an AC leak in our son's room, but that issue was immediately attended to with a great attitude, great service there... There was a bidet in the bathrooms, an added plus. No technical issues with the safe and door keys either, another bonus. Also, it was good that at least one electrical outlet did not require a special adaptor for our cell phones to charge up. However, the entire resort (mainly on the North side) is in dire need of a make-over as it is aging. In general, the buffet food was way under par, and rarely were any pastries served. We saw pastries on our 1st night there, only. The fish and poultry were good. It was nice to see that there were no egg shortages at this resort (unlike the Iberostar Laguna Azul we went to in January), and we actually enjoyed a 3 egg omelette on our very 1st morning, after waiting in line for quite a while. In fact, there were lots of long line-ups to get freshly cooked food, and even for the regular buffet foods as well. There never seemed to be enough plates or glasses to go around, and one often had to wait in line for plates & bowls etc. Too many people being served and not enough dishes or cutlery to go around... Also, it was difficult to get serviettes and water at the table. Service at the table was not always available, so it was often frustrating to wait for someone to bring us a glass of water or juice prior to standing in line for food, even to bring us cutlery when we had our food ready to eat at the table. Another necessary item that seemed to always be lacking was toilet paper in the public washrooms, to the point that some people, including ourselves, kept some dirty table serviettes on us in the likely event of not having to
