We came as one big family, Brits and Bulgarians together. The good things can be summed up pretty fast The indoor pool is nice but little space for children under 1 meter 60 cm to operate in if they are not strong swimmers. They have summersby cider in bottles with various flavours, the rooms are spacious. The Spa: 1) The Spa is hidden down in a dungeon. Maybe this is your sort of thing, but I like my Spa to be welcoming, light and positive. 2) While receiving my massage, I learnt that the massage therapist has big issues with Jewish people. Racism was not part of the package when I read through the list of options 3) Hot stone massage was off the list because they use stones, not volcanic rocks/stones. 4) Couples massage was off the list because they only have thin benches/beds which men wouldn't find comfortable. 5) The entire spa area was just empty rooms really. Nothing enticing, not peaceful. The Hotel: 1) The food served at the hotel is average at best. 2) The hotel in general seems to feel overly hot, even in April 3) The gowns provided are not comfortable fit for men. Especially all the ones with large tummies. 4) The wifi is terrible. If you are the only one using it, a fairly stable 30Mb/s can be achieved, mainly first thing in the morning. But by evening when everyone is trying to stream movies and music, you'll be lucky if we can get 1Mb/s. It's basically home wifi mesh and home broadband rather than a trunk that most companies would use. 5) The hotel is located in possibly one of the most boring parts of Bulgaria with little to do anywhere near it. 6) Drivers speed up and down the big slope that lead to the hotel itself, there is no pedestrian walk way to be safe on. Velingrad: 1) This town has a disgusting smoking issue. I mean everyone here smokes and they smoke inside buildings. There is no care for health here and no consideration of others 2) The town itself offers little entertainment. A couple of nightclubs for the youth who still do such things. The shops are limited, the sights don't exist, and due to large amounts of unfinished (and looks like loss of funding) building work there are areas which are not safe to walk around. You need to travel far to do bear sight seeing or visit Bansko. Both the hotel and the area provide a terrible experience if you are looking to enjoy Rhodope Mountains. The only reason I didn't rate it 1 out of 5, is because I came out alive.
