Manoir de la Malartrie

If you are reading this, stop & book this very special place! My wife & I in September 2023 were driving around France for 30 days for our anniversary. We learned about this gem & wonderful hosts/owners Ouaffa & Daniel from a recommendation in Rick Steves France. The town of La Roque-Gageac which the chateau/manor is located in is spectacular, quiet, has great restaurants & activities to enjoy. The walk to town is 10 minus or less-go explore the town & just wander the paths. We kayaked down the river, bought sandwiches & enjoyed a picnic along the river & the castle views. It was in the 90's & it was fabulous. Rented from the vendor just across the street. We explored the unique & beautiful cross-Magnon Grotto De Font De Gaume-book ahead-very limited access & worth it. Go wander the beautiful community of Domme-late afternoon or early morning-quiet. Ouaffa is such a gracious and wonderful host & owner-the property is perfect-the rooms are spacious, the bed & linens very very comfortable, so well cared for by staff & a wonderful pool. We had hot air balloons sail over the pool. The breakfasts & hospitality is beyond words. One night we enjoyed a truly special cocktail party outside in the garden with Ouaffa, Daniel, some of their family & other guests. We drank wine, enjoyed charcuterie, a beautiful evening and wonderful conversation & friendship. We did not even get to Sarlat. We like staying slightly outside a town as it quiet & the people are fabulous. We stayed 3 nights & could have stayed more. We will definitely return. Merci Beaucoup Ouaffa.

Gorgeous property in a beautiful area of the country. Lovely people running it. Generous sized rooms, great pool and lovely gardens. Highly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I spent the month of September 2023 in the Dordogne Valley, with a week at Manoir de la Malartrie, a true jem of a property, in a fantastic location, owned and operated by a wonderful couple whose gracious hospitality was, bar none! Malartrie is a 5 minute stroll to the exceptionally unique village of La Roque Gageac, right on the Dordogne River. Wafa, our host, presents an exceptional spread for breakfast, an experience not to be missed. Within a 10 minute drive are the following attractions: the historic village of Domme, Chateau and the town of Castlenaud, Chateau and the town of Baynac, Chateau Milandes,and the Jardins de Marqueyssac, none of which are to be missed if you can spare the time. Sarlat is 20 minutes away. But back to La Manoir. With beautifully appointed and maintained rooms, grounds and a pool, you will without question come to realize a gem within the Dordogne region. We highly recommend staying here!

Manor is absolutely gorgeous and walking distance to a lovely town. Breakfast was amazing and hosts are wonderful.

Fantastic stay! Ouaffa the proprietor could not be more welcoming. The hotel is beautiful, nice pool, great room, great breakfast. The ground have lush landscapes and places to sit. Trail to town. Free parking. Stay longer than you planned! You won’t want to leave!

Another wonderful week at Manoir de la Malarterie, breakfast was amazing, as usual (who needs lunch!!) and the welcome as warm as ever. Breathtaking scenery, including the garden, beautiful pool and truly exceptional standard of accommodation. Will definitely be back next year!

What an amazing place to stay!! We felt like we were in paradise with a very gracious and kind host, as well as being surrounded by beautiful trees, bushes, flowers, swimming pool, amazing rooms, comfortable accommodations, and delicious and plentiful items to eat for breakfast and dinner. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The only thing we did wrong was not stay longer. The setting is beautiful. The stroll into town was perfect. The owners/operators of the Manoir de la Malartrie were amazing. So glad we met them. Great memory for us.

This manoir is a superb place of beauty relaxation and the best breakfast and service we have experienced in all of France. The owner is a wonderful lady who is focused on making your stay the best that can be imagined beginning with her initial greeting continuing with her attention to your needs during the stay and with the best breakfast I have been offered throughout Europe. She is keenly aware of the surrounding areas and has some interesting areas for markets etc. This was the highlight of our trip through France.
