Hotel Rigi Vitznau

The welcome at this family run hotel is from the heart. All the staff appear part of this family and guests equally become valued and feel at home. The hotel has two parts, the original hotel with Art Deco bar and restaurants and the newer wing with superior spacious rooms and mostly with a balcony. Between the two is a fabulous garden terrace open in the spring to autumn and ideal for an afternoon coffee, lunch and evening meal. In addition there is a further dining experience, when weather allows, in the garden of the adjacent church garden. It is extremely popular and no wonder it is a glorious spot. Wherever you are and what ever you do, you can expect amazing service. This a three star hotel but you can rely on a 5 star welcome. The restaurant experience is outstanding as is the food (way above 3 star). I actually chose to eat the four course evening menu every day of my stay and I was never disappointed. The a la carte menu is stunning though! The rooms very clean and cosy. I stayed in the original hotel. The great thing also is that the hotel is situated in Vitznau, a charming village with an absolutely stunning location by what must be the most beautiful lake in Switzerland, well I have seen a few and to be honest any journey in Switzerland is stunning. The journey is just as enjoyable as the destination. From the lake one can take fabulous journeys on paddle steamers and motor ships to so many locations, Luzern, Brunnen, Weggis, are always worth a day or two. Or make it a full day on the lake or do round trips incorporating the many nearby mountains. There is so much to do. The hotel is a two minute walk from the boat station, walking past the mountain railway station to Mount Rigi, rightly named the Queen of the Mountains. A day or a week can easily be spent just hiking around, visiting the spa or taking the train down the other side or the cable car to Weggis. We all know that Switzerland is not the cheapest of destinations but the charming hosts at the hotel reception eagerly support the traveller in finding the best value, knowing everything you could possibly need to know. The Tell Pass is a must. It is for 2, 3, 5 or 10 days. Once you have it, EVERY form of transport in Central Switzerland is FREE! Don't rule out the busses either. They are extremely reliable and run every half hour in either direction along the lake. I have been here before, but I wanted to share another review, because it was confirmed yet again, that if one is looking for an ideal location for exploring central Switzerland, with all manner of possibilities in all weathers, with good value this is the hotel to consider. Plus I met so many people who, like me, return again and again. That in itself confirms what a gem this hotel is.

Had a fantastic time and had beautiful food in the restaurant. Staff were so lovely, . I was a rel be back and back to visit. Can't recommend enough. Easy access to the mountain railway and the lake steamer boats a perfect base to explore. There is a paddle board and kayak hire next to Lake

Very warm welcome at the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble as they helped us to park our car. They also let us borrow a couple of electric adaptors (we incorrectly thought Switzerland was standard European supply). The rooms are a little dated, but very clean and well equipped with daily maid service. The bar and restaurant were both very well staffed and run. The restaurant food was actually a revelation, and we shared and enjoyed a terrific pork schnitzel and salmon dish served with watermelon. The restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday, but the hotel made us reservations elsewhere. Breakfasts were splendid with plenty of choice at the self-service buffet. There is the mountain train station a few metres from the hotel, and it is a MUST to go up the Queen of The Mountains. The views are fabulous. There is also a number of walking trails and boat trips easily accessible too.

Unser absolutes Lieblingshotel am ganzen Vierwaldstättersee! Von hier erreicht man in wenigen Schritten die Rigi-Bahn und die Anlegestelle für die Dampfschiffe des Vierwaldstättersees. Von vielen Zimmern hat man einen herrlichen Blick aufs Wasser, und die Preise sind fair. Gut ist das Frühstück, zu empfehlen ist auch das Abendessen, das man auf der hoteleigenen Terrasse oder im Kirchhof genießen kann. Eine Empfehlung: Zürcher Geschnetzeltes. Ein Bierli an der hübschen Epi-Bar rundet einen perfekten Ausflugstag ab, vor allem, wenn es zur Happy Hour ist. Der absolute Hit sind aber die herzlichen und überaus hilfsbereiten Mitarbeiter, die bei der Organisation von Touren helfen oder kleinere Missgeschicke der Gäste so gut sie können ausbügeln. Sie alle schaffen für die Gäste eine wunderbare familiäre Atmosphäre. Dass Raucher gleich eine totale Negativ-Bewertung abgeben, nur weil sie beim Abendessen nicht andere Gäste mit ihrem Rauch stören durften, ist schäbig. Man kann doch mal auf eine Zigarette vor die Haustür gehen. Wer auf andere keine Rücksicht nehmen will buche einen Oneway-Flug zum Mond.

Zeer vriendelijke ontvangst, weten waar de laadpalen staan (garage tegenover hotel), heerlijk gegeten (vis uit het meer) met een mooie wijn. Alles als suggestie van de zeer goed Engels sprekende over. De kamer is niet bijzonder, maar wel hele lekkere bedden. Ontbijt is subliem!! Wat een keuze.

Familiäre Athmosphäre herrscht im Rigi. Die Bedienung ist sehr aufmerksam, das Essen zwar deftig-herzhaft, aber sehr gut zubereitet. Die Cordon-Bleus mit Pommes und zuvor der Nüsslersalat schmeckten uns sehr

Wir sind verliebt! Das "Hotel Rigi" liegt einfach traumhaft im schönen Vitznau, Seeblick und die legendäre Rigi-Bahn vor der Tür! Wir haben uns mega-wohl gefühlt! Die supernette Begrüßung an der Rezeption, die besten Tipps dort für die Freizeit und das tolle Gefühl, irgendwie zuhause zu sein! Das Frühstück von Gastgeberin Gisela, die ein echter Schatz ist, ist legendär und das leckere Brot (diese Kruste!!!) machte uns süchtig! Liebe Grüße nicht nur an die lieben Gastgeber Linus und Thomas, sondern auch an Barkeeper Stefan - es war uns ein "inneres Blumenpflücken" (Zitat: Stefan)! Danke von Herzen und bis bald, zum leckeren Tobleronemousse, das ja hier schon an anderer Stelle gelobt wurde - zurecht!

Lors d'une randonnée panoramique de plusieurs jours autour du lac des 4 cantons une de nos amies (nous étions trois) a dû être hospitalisée le matin du 15 septembre. Nous avions réservé 2 chambres à l'hôtel Rigi. Suite à cet événement, j'ai écrit le jour même pour annuler notre nuitée du 17 au 18 septembre. L'autre amie qui parlait couramment l'allemand a aussi téléphoné à l'hôtel afin de leur expliquer la situation. Il avait été convenu que nous devrions payer la somme de CHF 140.- qui représentait la moitié du prix. En effet, nous ne pouvions plus continuer notre périple dans ces conditions. A ma grande surprise, j'ai reçu immédiatement une facture d'un montant de CHF 270.-- et ma carte de crédit avait été débitée. Je trouve regrettable cette façon de procéder, contrairement à un hôtel à Küssnacht qui s'est montré très compréhensif. Au vu de ceci, je ne pourrai recommander cet établissement.

wir wollten am abend als paar gut essen gehen auf der mehrstufigen terrasse des restaurant "rigi" in vitznau.wir sind beide raucher.wir haben uns einen apéro bestellt und um einen aschenbecher gebeten.da wurde uns mitgeteilt,dass wir am abend draussen nicht rauchen dürfen.wir haben bezahlt+sind gegangen.es geht uns langsam gewaltig auf die nerven!den ganzen winter muss man draussen rauchen und wenn es dann das wetter zulässt und man endlich draussen sitzen kann,darf man da auch nicht rauchen?dieses lokal gilt es auf jeden fall zu meiden liebe raucher!
