Nihi Sumba

We spend 7 days at the Nihi - the views, the beach, the surroundings are great. The hotel , the room, the facilities are not so great, everything is a bit old and it feels outdated. The food, the service was also good, the buffet dinner was beautiful. The management is not very visible and we felt not very much cared for. Very expensive and therefore we would expect top notch care and attention, but nothing like that. Mixed feelings about the Nihi.

One sentence: absolutely stunning! Eines der besten Luxushotels, die ich je besuchen durfte. Wer auf der Suche nach höchstem Komfort, Privatsphäre, traumhafter Natur, ein wenig Abenteuer und Kultur ist, wird begeistert sein. Die etwas längere Anreise (von Bali mit Wings/Lion Air nach Tambolaka, Sumba) ist es definitiv wert. Auf Sumba gibt es kaum Tourismus, geschweige den Infrastruktur. Die Insel ist sehr traditionell, man lebt in einfachen Unterkünften und teils uralten Dörfern. Tradition, Feste und Zeremonien prägen das Bild. Die Insel verfügt über Traumstrände mit der perfekten Links-Welle: Surfer werden und sind begeistert. Das Nihi befindet sich an einem langen Traumstrand umgeben von Regenwald. Ich konnte mich von der Aussicht und Kulisse nicht satt sehen. Für mich die perfekte Szenerie: türkises Wasser, heller Sandstrand, grüner satter Dschungel, keine Gebäude in Sicht. Die Villen sind im tradtionellen Stil designt (äusserlich) und sind innen noch viel schöner als auf den Fotos. Extrem grosszügig, ich liebe die Outdoordusche, alles hochwertig und neu, traumhafter Ausblick und man schläft mit Meeresrauschen ein (dank der perfekten Surfwelle am eigenen Strand). Das Team ist unheimlich freundlich, der Butlerservice funktioniert einwandfrei. Vielen Dank auch an das Surfteam des Boathouses, die mich zum mehr Surfen angefixt haben, an Lina und ihre Yoga Lessions am Morgen und auch an das Spa Team und die Guides, welche mit uns gewandert sind. Apropo Spa: dieses ist abgelegen vom Resort an einem traumhaften Spot mit Strandbucht, umgeben von Reisfeldern und herrlichem Ausblick bei fantastischer Massage. Spa-Safari ist ein Muss! Zudem kann man unheimliche viele Aktivitäten machen, neben Sport, wie surfen, reiten, wandern, auch z.B. die vom Nihi ins Leben gerufene Sumba Foundation Projects besuchen. Die Kultur sollte man unbedingt kennenlernen. Das Essen ist köstlich und bietet auch viele gesunde Optionen. Vielen lieben Dank Nihi Sumba, dass es diesen Fleck Paradies gibt

Nihi and Sumba Island was an experience of a lifetime. It was great to experience the local culture and the resort was amazing. The weather didn't work in our favour but the team made our stay special regardless. The service and food was amazing. The Spa Sarafi was next level. I hope we can come back again some day. The place is unique, the Sumbanese people are generous and heartwarming hosts and the prevailing culture is enriching and present all around the resort. The team does a magnificent job from rooms to food & beverage, the Boathouse catering the famous surf spot occy’s left, an incredible activity program with amazing choices and not to forget the latest edition of wild wellness with equine therapy - a must do. Nihi Sumba / The Edge of Wildness is a place to recommend in full conviction. I will definitely be back 👌. Thank you to the entire Nihi Sumba team for a fantastic welcome and stay experience. 🙏

This was my second time and won't be my last. Such a spectacular experience we all had. Everything about it was outstanding. We were upgraded and we were completely overwhelmed by the breathtaking views. Yummiest food, the best freshest menu. Staff are so very kind and helpful .The horse activities are a must. shame I don't surf, next time i will try.

NIHI was amazing in every way. From the room, to the beach, to the food and all the great staff, it was as close to perfect as you could get. The resort felt completely secluded with nearly two miles of beach all to yourself. Combine that with the great cause they stand for and the opportunities they have brought many of the locals to Sumba and you would have a hard time not choosing this destination over any other in Indonesia. We will be back!

It’s hard to know where to start with this review. Everything was wonderful. We stayed in one of the Maranga Villas. The interior spaces were beautiful and well designed. The Villas has a nice private pool and a terrace with bale. Great places to peacefully hang out. Walking through the garden, you’ll come to your very own hut by the shore with a bed, minibar, and loungers. Great place for the sunset. The whole vibe of the place very relaxed yet very professional. The restaurant was outstanding! Every morsel that went in my mouth was perfect. We didn’t try the spa—next time, definitely. For me, the highlights of this stay was visiting the Sumba Project and the English lessons. Our visit to the Sumba Project included one of the malaria clinics, and going to a local school to serve a special high-protein lunch to the kids. You can read about the Sumba Project elsewhere, so suffice it to say that they do great work. The English lessons were the highlight of the stay. We spent item answering questions that the kids had, and got to participate in the lessons. The kids are super curious and asked great questions.

Best holiday ever. Luxury barefoot holiday with a great vibe. Location is stunning. Staff is doing the best so you have a wonderful holiday. Best food we had in Indonesia. Lots of activities for adults and children. The villa’s are so beautiful and comfortable. Couldn’t find one glitch to this amazing holiday. We come back next year, for sure.

Simply the best place I've been in my life. Nihi Sumba és sin exagerar la definición perfecta de paraíso. Todos los detalles son perfectos, el personal nos hizo sentir super queridos, están atentos a todos los detalles y siempre transmitiendo energia positiva. Nunca me atendieron tan bien, estoy también super agradecido a Sarah Jane y a Melisa y el personal de tras de la sorpresa que nos organizaron! Sarah (F&B manager) y su marido Maurice (Chef) fueron simplemente encantadores desde nuestro primer dia, además de su hospitalidad nos encantó conocerlos, nos hicieron sentir como amigos de toda la vida. There is no price for what Nihi Sumba gives to they're guests. Un gran saludo a toda la Familia Nihi! Ya estoy deseando poder regresar de nuevo.
