Elysian Luxury Eco Island Retreat

We spent 4 nights on Elysian. The perfect spot to chill by the pool looking out across Paradise Bay. The food was fantastic,hats off to the Chefs. Valarie our hostess was amazing, she really made us feel welcome and her Yoga classes were great. Josh the manager was also great giving us plenty of advice and making sure we had a great time. I would certainly recommend Elysian if you want a relaxing holiday with limited guests and no kids.

My mate and I spent 3 nights here as a stepping stone to various activities in the region. Whilst the ambience, meals and rooms are outstanding value, it’s the staff who put this wonderful gem on the “I must return “ map. These young people are complete assets, living and breathing their pride in being a part of an unique hospitality experience. Let it be known: you are completely beautiful people and it was a privilege to be part of it, albeit too briefly.

Fabulous Stay Our adult children, my husband and I stayed at the Easter Holidays, the end of Summer. We arrived by helicopter experiencing the most spectacular scenery untouched by man. Retreat is a very good description. You turn off your phones and stop. Every decision is made for you. The rooms are beautifully furnished in a relaxed way. A place to rest and restore. The drinking water is beautiful filtered rain water and the entire experience is one with nature. For nature lovers. But the food is an education of healthy eating. Every meal is a fixed menu with personal preferences considered if you wish. Can't recommend it more highly. The relaxed and attentive staff were all beautiful. We would visit again in winter whale season.

Beautiful location. Secluded and peaceful resort. Excellent food. Good base for trips to all the key features of The Whitsundays. The cabins are large and comfortable with wi-fi and TVs. Arrival by helicopter was very enjoyable. Thanks to Valerie, Jade and Josh for a great holiday!

Our stay at Elysian Hotel was truly world-class, thanks to the exceptional staff, especially Lillie. We extended our stay last minute, and the limited access was no issue at all due to their incredible hospitality. The food was unparalleled - the best we've ever had, with each meal being a unique culinary delight. Despite the many available tours, we opted for a spa treatment, which was fantastic. The service provided by the staff was truly outstanding, and their genuine happiness was infectious. I highly recommend Elysian Hotel for an unforgettable experience!

I was injured during a boat ride to Whitehaven Beach coordinated by Elysian. Elysian Manager, Tracy, as well as the captain of Paradise Explorer, John, failed to disclose the potential conditions and how rough or long of a ride we could be in for on that small of a vessel. We were taken through 5 - 6 foot swell for 2 hours, tossed around in the small boat like we were on a rollercoaster without life vests, as John only pointed to where they were stowed at the beginning of the trip. When we finally made it to our first stop, I knew I could not handle the two-hour return boat ride back to Elysian. I went off to lay in the sand and asked my husband for help to arrange another way out with the captain. After they spoke, the captain walked up the sand and approached me. I told the captain that it was irresponsible to have taken us out in such rough conditions without giving any kind of warning. His response was to call me a “stupid girl” and tell me that it was up to me to disclose my medical condition, that I should have told him to turn around sooner and that it was my responsibility to understand the conditions of the water. I am a tourist on vacation and this was sold to me as a relaxing 1hr long trip to a beach, so no, I did not know it would require a medical disclosure, nor was I in a position to tell him to turn around while I was clinging to the boat fearful of being tossed out. While it was a good thing that Elysian covered the helicopter ride back to the island ($1200 AUD), sadly they refused to remove the ($700 AUD) boat ride from our final bill, or offer any other kind of compensation. The only thing offered was the captain’s email address so that we could “request an apology” from him. Take this story into consideration when staying there, completely under their care on a remote island. Aside from this, outlining the other less serious issues we ran into during our stay, in hopes that others will avoid the disappointment and stress we endured at Elysian. Though there is little to do on the island but eat and lounge, seating options are limited and uncomfortable. Cushions are thin and don’t fit the chaise lounges properly. When I asked if additional cushions could be provided, I was told they’d look into it, but none were ever brought to us. Hard, white plastic chairs that are difficult to get out of circle the fire pit, where smoke will blow in your face, while the exactly two per person canapés are served each night. There are no ottomans to speak of to prop legs up. The chairs in the dining room are also uncomfortable and dig into your back, making the lengthy meals uncomfortable. The pop music played in the dining and lounge area is grating and repetitive, not conducive to an elevated or relaxing time. The tiny infinity pool is unheated and unsuitable for anything but a quick cold plunge as it’s too small for laps. There is exactly one hiking trail, ill maintained, along a dry shrubby forest, that juts you off onto a roc

We had a an amazing experience at Elysian. The location is so beautiful and the staff were simply amazing. We were spoiled with great food and the bungalow we stayed in, had all comfort we needed. The walk in the rainforest was super, despite quite some impressive spiders! Special mention for the ‘two Lilies’ and Olivia who provided a fantastic service. It is also worthwhile mentioning that Elysian helps out in the transportation from mainland, and even on the mainland with taxi driver Michelle. Just saying, Elysian really does over exceed on numerous levels. Thank you!

It’s hard to describe paradise, one person’s happiness is not another’s so I can only describe what we found. Without exception the staff just wanted us to be happy and content and for us to enjoy ourselves. There is nothing they wouldn’t do for us. The food is of the highest standard, there is no menu, just food of good quality, everything we wanted, asked for and more. The lovely little beach villa was cosy perfectly well equipped and had a wonderful view. Action packed this is not, it’s relaxing cosy and a great place to write a book.

The staff were so warm. We appreciated Alee and the team checked in on us to see how we were several times during our stay - they really cared about making sure we were enjoying ourselves. We enjoyed kayaking, yoga at 7am facing the ocean, outstanding meals and a wonderful feeling of really immersing in nature. Jane was an amazing host and cocktail maker. She made her special peach cocktail for us which was delicious. The rooms were very clean - serviced twice daily. I definitely recommend anyone who is looking for a relaxation escape to visit Elysian Luxury Exo Island Retreat. You won't regret it!
