After a nice stay at Cannon Park Motel last year in 2020 , I rang to book for this year. Tariff had increased by about 10% and the business had changed hands. I advised that I would pay cash on arrival and no objection was mentioned on the phone. On arrival, at around 4pm, the reception was closed and I had to obtain the key from a safe near the reception. It was not until I entered my room that due to Covid my room will receive only weekly service. Tariff up 10% but service down 70% !! Hmmmm. There's more. In the room I was provided with just one bath towel and one small motel size bar of soap. And not enough milk for a cuppa each day. Last year during the peak of Covid, my room was serviced daily I was provided with two towels, two soaps and tea making supplies topped up every day. That's 14 towels and 14 soaps per week last year compared to one towel and one soap this year. Needless to say I had to buy extra soap and milk. For the first three mornings I stayed at the motel watching for the reception to be open so that I could settle my account with cash as advised when I booked. After 3 mornings without the reception open, I checked my credit card account and found that my card was charged with a weeks accommodation PLUS a fee for paying by credit card. I was not advised of any credit card charges as I was going to pay by cash. What do you call it when someone takes your money without you knowledge or approval ??? Clearly the worst motel I have ever stayed at. The people running the business have no idea about service , hospitality or goodwill.
