Nirvana Hotel

Charming, beautiful, peaceful, clean stay at Nirvana. Location is right beside Labrang Monastery and also on a quiet road by the river / foot of mountain. Owner really goes above and beyond to welcome and take care of you and helps with navigating the town. Lovely western coffee, meals and drinks! Safe and secure for solo female travellers. I stayed in the hostel which was spacious and showers/bathrooms are impeccably clean. Fast and consistent wifi. Everything you need for a great stay in Xiahe.

Very nice hotel located right next to the monestry. Room was big and comfy. Shower was hot! It was a shame the restaurant and bar wasn't open.

My stay at Nirvana Hotel was very pleasant and certainly different to other places I have stayed in the past. Wandhi Khar, the owner, is very welcoming. On the first day, he offered to take me to Sangke Grasslands as he was heading to Nirvana Resort. Eventually we started talking and I ended up at his resort which actually overlooks the grasslands. He was kind enough to stop along the way for me to take pictures and at his property, he showed me the path to take to go for a walk and enjoy the grasslands. He even offered me his coat as the temperature was cool. After my walk, we (including Joe) kept talking over a few glasses of beer after which, Joe dropped me back at the hotel in Xiahe. Wandhi Khar invited me back to the resort the following day but after walking all day long around Labrang monastery, I was very exhausted and sadly could not make it. I highly recommend Nirvana Hotel and Nirvana Resort. I’m well travelled (+50 countries) and it’s not often you meet people who will go out of their way. Wandhi Khar is very generous and welcoming. At the hotel, his staff was very helpful. For example she called the bus station to double check the departure time etc. I hope to come back and visit again in the future.

Everything was fine. The location is the best - you can walk over to the monastery.

Ideal location, closer to the monastery, quieter side of the area neat and clean. English is spoken, so it is very convenient for the foreigners to communicate and get suggestions. Western style food is served I think. I did not eat here. However there are some eating places are also nearby, so, there are plenty of options. I have no hesitation to stay here again if I visit Labrang again in the future.

This hotel & the nearby resort are owned & run by Dutch Clary and her Tibetan husband, both of which have been thoughtfully designed and decorated by the couple. The tapwater is drinkable, the hotel food had good Western options (banana & chocolate pancake for example) and the lobby bar is a nice place to relax with a huge library for guests to use. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable. We went to Nirvana resort for dinner which is an excellent option if you're not staying at the resort for the superb 360◎ views of the Sanke grasslands. Location is right beside Labrang monastery and Clary told us exactly how to find the trail over the mountains north of the town. Highly recommend.

Very nice place to stay in Xiahe. Very well maintained, western food options and English speaking. Very kind service. Definitely recommended.

Very practical hotel with perfect and quiet location to visit the Labrang Monastery. Very friendly staff supporting and proposing ideas for helping us with their experience and knowledge. The hotel is beautifully decorated. The room is simple but good. Recommendable
