Hedley House Hotel & Apartments

Very clean studio apartment with loads of hot water and very friendly hosts. Didn't try the jacuzzi. Our studio was in the basement so no view but only 10 mins walk from the city centre via Museum gardens. Cost was reasonable

Recently stayed here for a night to have day/night in York. Great location, walking distance to the city centre (nice walk through Museum Gardens when open). Our room was a good size, bed was comfortable and everything was clean and tidy also quiet too. Would recommend.

Hedley House is in a fantastic location. It's in a peaceful street with parking at the back of the building. The lady who greeted us at reception was very nice, friendly and helpful. Our room was fantastic, very spacious and the bathroom was equally spacious and very smart. The beds were so comfortable and the bedding crisply clean. I slept extremely well which is unusual for me in a strange bed. Breakfast is pre-ordered. There was a really good selection of hot options. Continental choice was fresh fruit salad and yoghurts. There were 2 boxes of gluten free cereals on offer and different milk choices (soya etc.) The public areas downstairs are beautiful. The garden with covered seating is beautiful and peaceful. My daughter used the really well equipped gym. We didn't avail of the yoga classes or spa therapies but were really pleased to see they were on offer. There were just a couple of issues I would like to draw the owners' attention to. I would have given my review 5 stars however in our room I was disappointed with housekeeping. I'd asked for our room to be made up on one morning of our 3 night stay. This was done apart from towels I'd left in the bath not being taken away or replaced, the bathroom bin not being emptied and tea bags not being replaced. However the nice lady at reception (mentioned above) dealt with the towels/tea bag issues within 5 minutes. The only things that really let our room down were the curtains in the bedroom, blinds in the bathroom and an empty plastic bottle outside the window which remained there for the duration of our stay. I have attached photographs. The curtains were badly ripped on one side, had huge marks of some kind on the other side and desperately need replaced. The bathroom blinds had threads hanging down in a couple of places. In an otherwise lovely room these things were a big disappointment and not what I would expected from what is sold as a superior room. On our next visit to York I will not hesitate in booking Hedley House. Overall I was really happy with our stay, it's a brilliant hotel.

Laundry service! Worth every penny. Good bar and breakfasts. Walkable distance to the train station and all downtown attractions yet on a quiet street so no nighttime noise. Also has a lovely, contemporary back garden. Our room was comfortable and clean.

Lovely place, the staff are very accommodating and the food is great! The hot tub was lovely, we managed to get in on our own even though it's a shared one. If you want it to yourself it's better to go in just as it opens or before it closes, they even provide warm towels for it. The hotel is very close the the centre (about a 15 minute walk) we couldn't hear any traffic at all and the bed was so comfortable! The only thing we didn't expect was that they cleaned our room whilst we went out for the day, we did however appreciate this because we got extra milk, sugar and made sure we were stocked up (they also have a coffee machine in the room too). Thank you, we will definitely come back!

Through their website, I booked two nights at the cancel later option rate. Even though their policy stated that no money will be taken from my card at the time of booking, they took a $90 deposit. When the confirmation came to me by email, it had dates that I did not select while booking online. When I contacted them about this error, they said that my desired dates were 50 GBP more per night. They did offer to refund my deposit but offered no explanation as to why their booking system did not work properly. I requested an immediate refund as I did not want to pay the higher rate. Over the course of the following two weeks, I contacted them three more times (email and Facebook messenger). All of my efforts were ignored until I disputed the charge through my credit card company. Magically, they returned my messages with a non-apologetic reply that my refund would be processed. Of course, that amount was lower because of a different exchange rate that day. Beware of their bait and switch tactics and uncooperative attitude!

I cannot recommend Hedley House enough. Location is 10 minutes walk to the centre of York. Very clean,beautiful and quiet rooms. Excellent hardworking staff and helpful friendly hosts. We stayed to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and had an amazing evening meal cooked by the hardworking Chef Dale. Looking forward to our next visit.

We booked this literally an hour before arrival and could not fault this lovely guest house. Very clean and the staff were just wonderful. Lovely garden area and comfy seating to enjoy a drink in the sun (beer from the bar!) and breakfast choice was fantastic. Thank you again for being so accommodating! We will definitely be returning soon!
