This was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.

It was better than any other inn I've stayed at so far. The futons were fluffy, the bathroom was clean, and the breakfast was full of vegetables. It was the best inn. I was surprised more than anything by how nice the people were.

Wow this place is INCREDIBLE I have no idea how it doesn't have SO many more reviews. This ryokan has literally the sweetest people, absolutely beautiful onsens, and YUMMY food. The room itself is very spacious and has it's own private view into a garden, and it has it's own A/C unit you can use - it's also very clean and included a full set of teas and snacks. The shared outdoor and indoor onsens are absolutely gorgeous, and overlook mountains in the distance. I went to 10+ onsens in Japan and this was the best hands down - beautiful with those mountain views, and extremely clean. The food was also so delicious, and I felt stuffed after every breakfast and dinner. I super highly recommend this place!

According to these circumstances, it is okay to give 4 points, but I don't recommend everyone to live, because this house has hidden charges, and in winter it will charge 500 warm house fee and 150 hot spring water tax. There is no mention on the booking page. If the hot spring tax is not unfamiliar to people who frequent Japan, what is called the warm house fee is very strange. Communicate with the store. A very unique ryokan experience at Kusatsu. I've never seen wooden floors that shiny. The room is LARGE. Plenty of space that is also partitioned, and can sleep up to 6. There's a toilet in the room, but no shower. They've got a top notch onsen bath downstairs. The hotel staff were kind and used a translator to communicate with us. Location wise, it is very good. It's near enough to the Yubatake. Like 1 min walk away. But it's away from the noise and crowd and sulphur fumes. The perfect choice for guests who like to go back to the hotel for a short rest and come back out again

Wow! What a wonderful place, and wonderful people! I loved the view of the green rice fields out of my window, with a beautiful mountainous background. My room was great, clean and organized, had everything I needed. Location wise it takes about 10-15 minutes to get to the train station or to a nearby seven eleven. The train schedule is quite sparse, so time it correctly. (Or rent a car, would be the easiest) The hosts were extremely nice! Helped me in any way they could’ve for example in my checkout day, it was raining heavily so they gave me a ride to the station.

Opposite the hotel, there are about 10 free parking spaces, suitable for self-driving people, the hotel's large bath is only for men; In addition, the lady stays, if you make an appointment to a private style, it will be good. Breakfast is in 8/F, so the view is very good.
