"The hotel is located in the old city, which is great for daily strolls, allowing us to easily return for a rest whenever we wanted. They offer triple rooms, and while breakfast is simple, it's filling. The staff's English is excellent, making communication seamless, and the service is good. You can call the front desk to book airport pickup and drop-off. The hotel terrace offers fantastic sunrise views! However! When we arrived, the hotel was undergoing simple renovations, which Trip.com and its agents failed to inform us about! This seriously affected our health! But once we checked in, it was non-cancellable! And at that time, we weren't even sure if we could find another hotel. There were paint cans in the hallway, so our room had a strong renovation smell. I immediately contacted Trip.com customer service, but regrettably received no response, absolutely no response! Not even from a human agent! It wasn't until I checked out that they offered me a so-called 'solution'! I expressed my dissatisfaction to customer service and hoped Trip.com would take international bookings seriously and fulfill its responsibilities! Regarding the hotel service, after I reported the issue, the front desk attendant showed me all the remaining rooms, but unfortunately, they all had the same smell. He then helped us turn on the ventilation fan; in short, he did everything he could to help. We had no choice but to make do for one night. If you plan to stay a month from now, I would still recommend it!"

"Pros: -The swimming pool is very enjoyable in 44° weather. -The hotel runs a free shuttle to the old city of Itchan Kala (and will pick you up from there within 5 minutes of calling them). The ride takes 7 minutes (but it takes about 30 min on foot, which makes it less convenient than staying within the old city proper -- but cheaper). -Nice and friendly staff. -Bathtub! (Although weak water pressure) -The mini fridge in the room (first time in Uzbekistan!) was brilliant: makes for much colder water than you can buy anywhere in the country! -Staff very kindly allowed me to stay a whole extra day (before my evening flight) for free! (Low season has its perks) Cons: -Unexplained and lengthy (20+ min) power outages, at random times (but often around 10 pm). I suspect this had to do with their electricity generator. During those outages, there'd be no water in the bathroom either. -Lots of wasps in the garden and around the pool -- no issue while enjoying the pool, but when I explored the garden I bumped into a nest, got swarmed and stung thrice... -Breakfast was included but did not impress."

"Mercure Khiva opened just this year and features a courtyard-style layout covering a very large area. Unfortunately, the room size itself is a bit small, which is a bit of a pity. I originally booked a king room, but the check-in slip showed a twin room. After communicating with the staff, they pushed the beds together, which delayed our schedule slightly. The front desk is advised to double-check reservations more carefully. The soundproofing is indeed very good, but there is still some lingering new-renovation smell, though fortunately, the windows can be opened for ventilation. The breakfast selection isn't exceptionally vast, but it includes local specialties and fruits, and the taste is decent. The location is the biggest highlight—right at the North Gate of the ancient city, offering a quiet yet convenient spot with effortless walking access to the old town. However, the most unexpected aspect was the hotel's atmosphere: it borders a large tomb/mausoleum, and right outside the lobby, there is a stone sarcophagus—presumably left in place because it couldn't be moved during renovation. It definitely maximizes the novelty factor, though it doesn't affect a normal stay. The only real concern is the construction quality. Being newly opened, the bathroom walls are already cracking, the baseboards in the room are warping, and the suction on the bathroom glass door is so strong that the entire door frame shakes when opening it, making it a bit worrisome that it might collapse. Hopefully, the hotel will inspect and reinforce these areas soon. Overall, the location is excellent and the atmosphere is unique, but the hardware details need improvement."

Our room was remarkably spacious, spotless, and impeccably maintained throughout our stay. "Cleanliness: The hotel was thoroughly cleaned, and I didn't encounter any unpleasantness throughout the property. Location: It's one of the few hotels located within the city walls of Khiva. Amazing! Staying inside a World Heritage site was a truly precious experience. Since it's within Khiva's city walls, you might have to walk a bit from outside the walls, so that's something to keep in mind. Service: Very good. When I mentioned I wasn't feeling well during check-in to the gentleman at the counter, he asked me about my health the next morning. We also had a great cultural exchange, discussing topics like Japanese cherry blossoms and soccer. Facilities/Amenities: Generally satisfied, but I'm giving it 4 stars because there were no slippers in the room and the shower door was extremely heavy."

"Absolutely loved everything! A new hotel, sparkling clean, with fresh linens, towels, and a comfortable bed. There's a safe, and the breakfasts are fantastic. It's just a 5-minute walk to the main attractions. They greeted us with tea and local sweets upon arrival. Check-in is officially at 3 PM, but we arrived at 12 PM and they immediately let us check in. They even upgraded our room without any extra charge! When they found out it was my husband's birthday, they brought a complimentary hotel treat to our room – raisins and nuts. In the evening, we ordered dinner on the terrace with a view of the old town. We were the only ones on the terrace, making it incredibly romantic – the old town, delicious food, and the moon. The hotel staff wished my husband a happy birthday and even gifted us a bottle of wine. We absolutely loved the hotel and the service; everything was top-notch. Thank you so much!"

"The location was fantastic. It was easy to walk to the North Gate, East Gate, and West Gate. I highly recommend it, as you can also enjoy exploring the city streets outside the old city walls. The room was clean, and I stayed on the first floor, which was incredibly convenient. The reception was right outside my room door, making it easy to communicate with the owner. It was also a huge help that the mineral water in the fridge in front of the reception was free. It seems to be a family-run guesthouse, and everyone was friendly and kind. I received such warm hospitality, like coming home, so I often returned to my room to relax during the hotter hours of the day. They greeted me with an ”Okaeri!” (Welcome home!) each time I went in and out, which was several times a day. On my checkout day, my train wasn't until the evening, but the owner told me I could use the terrace (which was actually indoors) until 5 PM and even gave me some water. The mother also offered me fruit, naan, and snacks. Finally, the owner, Aut-san, offered to drive me to the station, which was a huge help. Khiva is very far from Tokyo and a challenging journey, but if I ever come back, I would love to stay at this guesthouse again."

"I was flustered by the sudden messages and even phone calls on WeChat. I asked for an extra key card just in case, but was refused. The room I was given was large, but I didn't find it particularly good. The bed was covered with a mere cloth, not even a thin duvet. There was a tiny mini-safe sitting there instead of a proper safe. In the evening, when I ordered a bottle of beer at the rooftop bar, someone brought me leftover beer. I asked for a replacement, and they did, though they seemed unaware of the situation. I felt uncomfortable because they kept trying to sell me other products. It would probably be better not to include breakfast. However, the location is excellent."

"A wonderful hotel right in the heart of the old town. The rooms were surprisingly spacious, as we had expected cramped quarters given the nature of guesthouses within the fortress. The rooms were very clean, with new furniture and good plumbing. Breakfast was good, with plenty of options. However, the coffee machine wasn't working. We had read reviews previously that coffee would be chargeable, so we even had money ready for it 😂. Though, honestly, it's a really poor decision to charge for the main breakfast beverage. It seems they decided to 'solve' the problem radically 😅. Nevertheless, I give this hotel a solid five stars. Highly recommend!"
